When pressed, the Clash also do an admirable job deconstructing ska. (See "Guns of Brixton")

As I posted somewhere before, this song was written by Mick as a response to a song by the Slits called Stand By Your Man (not Tammy Wynettes). He used to date Viv Albertine from the Slits. It uses a blues riff and the "In Vain" invokes Robert Johnson's "Love in Vain".
