I'm surprised anyone still listens to Radio 2. Their music choices are abysmal. The majority of stuff they play is aimed at the under 25s. I switched off ages ago. I prefer to listen to Absolute 80s now.
Great stuff this and I cringe as I hear it cos it brings back memories from when I was lucky enough to get through to Ken on the air on pop master back in 2005 only to go on and have a thick as two short planks moment and score 3points my self also. I think the chap that beat me scored 36 and I was proper gutted cos I knew his last question that he got wrong and I so wanted him to win 39 so I could come back for a numpty shot at the radio top prize haha. Its much harder on the air than at home!
Ey Up Lee; When I was on the show I got 6 points. Mind you, I was too busy showing off doing Zippy and George, Prince Charles and Jimmy Saville impressions! I asked the researcher, before I went on, if Ken had a sense of humour. She said he did. All I can say is, he must have gone to work without it that day! Best Wishes, Billy Gibbons. (I'm not the one from ZZTop...I'm the one from Cheshire)
I've stopped listening to Ken Bruce. He used to play 60s, 70s & 80s music but now he plays current chart crap for teenagers. Typical BBC! Obsessed with youth culture when it's the over 30s who mainly fund the bloody organization.
I went on a few months back. I normally score in mid to high twenties. Scored fifteen however, it's so much different when you're playing it on the radio.
Only one more that i know, The Living Daylights from the Bond film of the same name. Bad luck old chap, i'll send you a cd wallet for your efforts lol
I got 15! By the way Lee, what was the 3 in ten that day? Here's one for you.10 seconds, three answers, and in that time please give me the titles of 3 uk charts hits forrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr..........................A-ha?????? And be honest!! lol
@spreadthelove77 I honestly can not remember. I can only think of 2 A-Ha songs off the top of my head, Take On Me and Sun Always Shines On TV. Did they have 3? Lol
Blimey. . . .tough questions. . . . beat you though I got 9 points out of those questions. At least you din't get a Norwegian Eurovision score. .. . . . . . ! ! !
jeepers dude, they were tough, I get around 20 ish on a good day like yourself, but only managed 6 with these questions! bet its 10 x tougher too live, i wouldn't have the balls to do it live so hats off to you!
Phil Swern who sets the questions used to do a really good quiz on Capital - You Aint Heard Nothing Yet. Hes actually made the Radio 2 questions seem slightlu easier than I remember the Capital Programme ones.
if you ever get to be live, its so hard. when you question wrong the producer is talking to you as well as ken...... i was trying to think of the answer, and i has a guy saying "keep calm keep calm, dont swear"
i am not making excuses i know i did shit and i dont care.. it took me 3 years to get on pop master..... i got on and posted it in the funniest way i could......
i got 30 but its easier shouting at the computer,i`ve listened to popmaster for years but am to afraid to go on i`d be a bag of nerves lol, someone actually got zero the other day so fair play to ya.
@seftonwallet he like most bbc radio people the show is OLD FASHIONED OUT OF DATE people only listen cos there are no decent alternatives ?? BBC reign of shit
will come to an end one day i hope then britian can move on ! evolve ! become more !! better !!! all this bullshit does is slow down progress.
the worst? i'd say he's the best! jeremy vine and steve wright are the worst. both take themselves far too seriously and chris evans just swaps a few words around and he's got the script for the next show
yes i can tell by the popmaster jingle this is an old one. when was this? we listen to this at work although i usually just catch the one contestant but somedays its easy but these questions were hard. id've got maybe 6 or 7 points.
How can you be the worst contestant - Ive heard several people get zero. At least you didnt get Mike Dickin, who used to do a notoriously hard quiz when on Capital, I`m sure it was done deliberately so he could berate people who said "and any one who knows me" when doing the dedications after failing it.
"middle of the road radio 2 type music", they probably picked the tough questions after that one!! Well done for having the bottle in the first place.
I had a similar experience about 6 years ago , on local radio . Luckily they did not use my surname on air so i was able to keep it a secret from my mates.
ha ha, i made the classic mistake of calling my mates, the works depot and family members.....
they all heard my die on my arse, and they even had the decency of recording it on cd , so they could put it on as i walked in my local pub, that afternoon.

I got '84 at first but changed my mind to '87 ... so I got that wrong. Damn! Nul points.
I'm too scared to go on Popmaster, I can get up to 27, but 3 is not uncommon either, I'm not consistent enough!

I agree, it is harder playing for real, but great fun. I got 15 too.
