Sid with a ponytail...WOW! ;-) Actually, I don't recall seeing 'home bands' used as much by visiting artists as Paul & Co. over the past 20 years, which may go to show how 'trusted' they are ( I know Sid used to be on of Peter Gabriel's touring guitarists).
Robyn is an acquired taste, but to those of us who get him and listen to his music his songs have depth, emotion and quirky, intriguing allusions. An intelligent rocker.
I like it!! Lost madonna of the wasp. I had this loop playing in my head for seven years, Thank god that we can capture memories like this treasure. Art....

Yet another attempt by the corporate establishment to co-opt or rather pre-empt the butterflies in our stomachs which methamphetamine doth obscure... a bon vivant industrial accident in the brain of the artists, who is you and me, a cataclysm at thirty four frames per second and the camera was shut at the precise moment and it was made by those who made the camera and the camera keeps it the camera is shut... i'm so tired of people who think paper towels are a passing fad.
I would have paid money to see this on Letterman at the time. It must have been quite a shock. Queen Elvis was my first intro to Robyn, and I have not looked back since. brilliant man.
Ballon Man was the first song I heard. I ran to the record store like a squirrell loading up for winter. I bought everything they had out. Queen Elvis is a masterpiece. This is a desert isle cd. I recommend it to everyone. I saw Robyn & The Egyptians at Bogarts in Long Beach, 91`ish? THAT was a fun band to watch. My date thought He looked like Paul McCartney. I dunno, kinda?
Same here with Queen Elvis. Then it was off to buy everything else.
I am sure the audience was thinking "what the hell is this?" when he first came out. Great song. I have seen Robyn many times over the years and he never disappoints.
My friend when I was young played this for me. I have been looking for this song forever. I mean for a long, long time. Thank you so much for sharing this video with me. You made my night. This song is awesome. God bless you and your family.
I love Will Lee, but they should'a let Andy play here ... One thing I never liked about musical performances on Letterman. Let the whole band play, darn it!
interesting..considering this was '89, then i guess it was at least 5 years ahead of its time if it is, as you said, 1968 meets 1994. Whatever it is, though, it is one of the most seemingly effortless pop gem songs. And, btw, in the mid-80s, the influence of 60s music was very prominent in progressive music, so what's your point? Few did it as well as Robyn Hitchcock.
If he treats you horribly, he's probably a Scorpio ..he's a long kebab through your ovaries. Words to live by.

I think Arcade Fire made it to Conan O'Brien because some other band was sick, but that's still a couple degrees away from art rock. So, yeah.
