I LOVE this video!!!! I've had Bell's Palsy for one month now. Watching it puts a smile on my face... ok, a half-smile! :) Thanks so much for posting it!
I had it over the summer, I took medicine and did physical therapy. I got cured in 2 months. I think physical therapy (messaging, exercising, and electric therapy) really helped me to recover from this quickly.
i just came home from the hopsital today with Bell's Palsy, and after seeing this video, and having the SAME exact problems, I've laughed my crooked face off knowing someone else is having the same problems..
I got Bell's in the summer of 2005 and recovered by 2006. Don't worry, it gets better. I just had a relapse but now that I know what it is I have great advice. get the medications from a doc. (steroids and anti-inflamatory) BUT go see a CHIROPRACTOR! They know exactly what it is and how to resolve it. Adjustments will eventually give you
most motion back. when my relapse occurred the first thing I did was to get an adjustment - the cranial nerve pinched will open up & help it heal. email ?'s
i was just diagnosed with bell's palsy an hr ago and it's a litl ridiculous. my friends are asking me why im not freaking out and acting like its the end of the world when its not....just because half my face doesnt work doesnt mean i have to wallow in my own self pitties...and im glad to see im not the only one with a positive out look on this
Good attitude can help you get over it quicker - so keep smiling and work those facial muscle with a cheery grin! Have Bell's Palsy for a few weeks and at first was very distressed and upset - now I just give a rooked grin and laugh makes all the difference - so be happy!
Your sister has a wonderful personality, i was diagnosed with BP today, my stepdad had it a few weeks ago so i knew to tape my eye at night (it realy helped) but thanks to watching the clips on here im going to save myself the trouble of getting water in my eye in the shower, i didnt even think of that... While in the Doctors waiting room today my son acidently poked me in the eye (because i couldnt close it in time) It feels good to be able to see the humorous side instead of stressing.
my brother had that when he was a child. he was always making up illnesses so my mother thought that he was just mucking around. he sounded and looked so funny and she kept saying to him if you dont stop talkin funny you're not goin to the pantomime! in the end that didnt work so she threatened him with the doctor. when that didnt work she took him to the dr and he diagnosed him with it. almost had to have his eye sewn closed! my mother felt soooo guilty for calling him a liar lol
I love her spirit... bells palsy changed my life. I was 16 when I got it... it is the time when you want to look beutiful! Bells palsy ruined my life 5 years!
I had Bells Palsy once. I had to go to school like that and for the first week people would make me smile just to see my crooked smile. Ha ha, it was funny!
yea i just got diagnosed today and you it didn't really bother i've just kinda rolled with the punches, it seems to make my family kinda sad i'm not sure why. i just laugh at myself i guess if you can't keep a good sense of humor you'll drive yourself nuts anyways thanks for the laughs
My worry is that I don't see any sort of STEROID in the doctor's prescription. I'm afraid my friend might be getting a neglectful prescription.
From what I've read in the posts made by the wonderful Youtube community, when it comes to treating Bell's palsy time is of the essence, so I urgently need to know if there would be any danger in using steroids along with Tegretol?
P.S. My friend does not have Trigeminal Neuralgia, of that I am very sure.
My friend was soon sent to a clinic where he had various sorts of scans, MRI, urine/blood tests, etc. Finally, the doctor sent him home and prescribed him with Tegretol ONLY.
Tegretol turns out to be an anticonvulsant, which works by decreasing nerve impulses that cause seizures and pain. So if I understand correctly Tegretol is a sort of analgesic meant to treat nerve pain. Continue...
My best friend has got Bell's palsy 5 days ago on 25 September 2008.
I'm not sure what the precise cause of his palsy was, but I suspect that as he was having a panic attack (under a huge stress and tiredness) one of the arteries that runs through the brain near the cerebellum got swollen and touched/rubbed/pressed on the 7th Cranial nerve. I'm not sure if the artery also touched or pressed on the Trigeminal nerve but I think not. That was the scenario 5 days ago. Continue...
miss emily can u help me its my 3rd day what day it will be ok im undergoing homeopathy and i guess its slow im taking up traumeel and vitamin b please do help
i have some sort of facial dysfunction, but it isnt bells palsy. i look normal but cant hold a smile. it's really awkward during social events. but it's good to see your sister has a sense of humour about her condition and make fun of herself. ive done the opposite and felt sorry for myself. maybe i should take a note from your sis.
Lovely video! Your sense of humor is amazing!!! I was first diagnosed with BP on 4/30/80 when I was 16. It effects my self-esteem dramatically. I am very self-conscious, especially when people stare at me. I have it on my left side. My left eye is smaller, the cheeks is cheekier and the nostril is bigger. Having a photo taken is nerve-wrecking which makes my left face even tighter and twitch even much faster and the result is disastrous looking photo :-(
God bless you. You have a great sense of humor. I have a brother that got BP a few months ago. And he also has a great sense of humor. And that's good cause it helps you get better quicker. Take care.
It's awesome that u're so humourous about it and that probably did help with ur recovery. I can't help but stress over this. :( It has me really depressed:( How can I get over this? :( I miss my smile so much:(
I was diagnosed with BP on Feb 25.08 :( It has affected my left side of the face. When I talk my mouth doesn't really shoot to the rite.. and my speech isn't slurred as much. It's just that I cannot close my eye at all and cannot left my left eyebrow:( I am in my 3rd wk now and no improvements.
She has a very mild case. Unfortunately, I can't raise my left eyebrow or furrow my brows at all. The left side of my face does not move at all. She still has some movement.
There's no "known" cause of BP, but it's thought to have something to do with the inflamation of a nerve around the ear on the effected side. It does come on suddenly, usually overnight, and can last anywhere from weeks to months. Emily's now (2/22/08) is hardly noticable anymore. I'll try to get another video sometime!
xD we're the same i got bell's palsy like that myself -_- to much computer and not enough rest ^^ by now i'm recovered YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!! it took me 2 months to recover how bout you
Exactly Same :D Around 2 months. Yep, I remember I was in front of the computer alot when I got it. Actually I first felt the right side of my face wasn't moving, when I was staring at the monitor, I was like what the hell.. lol
