this is one of the best tips when at thrift stores.

I found my prom dress at a thrift store and it fit me perfectly. At first I thought it was too short but once I tried it one it was at a perfect length. I also used one of your guys' tips to shop with a friend.

another tip: know your measurements by heart! sometimes you don't have the time or the space to try it on (some little stores) so you can take with you a measuring tape and check the items measurements to get the idea if it fits you or not.

@Eunji90 No, though they are second hand items, they aren't just accepted right after someone drops them off. They're inspected, washed, repaired etc. If it's too far gone, then they're just thrown out by the store and not even put on the shelves. Most places won't accept clothes that are too far destroyed so you won't see clothes with all these holes in them. You can sometimes find new clothes with tags still on them! I have a few times!

about the smells, or dirtiness, the clothes are most likely clean because thrift stores are required by law to wash the clothes in water that's hot enough to kill bugs, parasites, germs etc.

@JEMMSSS1 charity shops are our equivalent to thrift stores, but i think they are getting more expensive as they have caught on to the fact that a lot of people like vintage clothing. I went to the East End Thrift Store in London recently and there was no clothing priced under £10 :( but that is the only 'thrift' store i have heard of.

This is so true. There are so many clothes that look really blah or unattractive on the hanger, but look phenomenal when you try them on. You're more likely to find awesome pieces this way, because most people won't bother trying something on if they're not immediately attracted to it.
