I made one thing with this piece of shit and the the coating on the pan tore off. I still want one, i just can't force myself to spend the money again :(
The first 2 times I used the GT Express it was great just like the commercial, however, by the third time the non-stick coating doesn't work anymore and it's a nightmare to clean so it's just packed up in the cupboard. I see they have the new and improved Redi-set-go and i'm sooooooo mad I'm bought the first edition one. Great video though!
I guess I have supervision because I clearly saw residue unlike the commercial's claims. Fail. Good review though, I like how the reviewer admitted that he had no taste in food. A simply well made chocolate cake is not enough? Really? Wow.
Yo how Danky is this cooker?? This sHlt is changing my life.... You can pretty much mix all kinds of random sHlt and it comes out like pure straight headies bud......
I bought the newer version, the Redi Set Go, and we really like it! My kids love the Cini-Mini's that Cathy makes on the infomercial. We also make grilled cheese sandwiches with it. No complaints at all. I'm definitely going to try the cake mix with the candy bar recipe. Looks heavenly.
I have one question Why does the top of the machine does not stay up? did you break it?. I Like your video and you take step by step and that's important so people can learn to use it and make meals. I have a Express Redi Set Go Machine and it is almost the same that you are using in your video. Your meals look delicious ! only thing is that my button timer melted off and so now I have to eye ball when the meals are done. Fast and Easy I use it everyday .
No problems with the non stick. I never use anything metal to take out food. Usually use hands or the provided plastic spatula. My favorite thing to make in the GT express are sandwiches. Take a hoagie roll cut in half, put some mayo, basil leaves, turkey, onions, cheese. Put in the GT Express comes out melted and bread is crispy. Dip sandwich in a balsamic vinegar dressing.. delicious!
oh and i always use PAM to spray it before it gets hot so the food wont stick not that it doesnt but to be safe and well evreything wipes right out! with a dry or wet paper towel if it get real real burnt like a cake or cornmuffin mix i just lightly scrape it off then it wipes out fine. so yeah non stick cooking spray helps! big time. but i am going to get the new redi set go model soon! since the middle large cooking well i can make my burrito wraps bigger and not worry about it being to small
I already had an omelet maker that I had purchased 2 years ago. Looks just like the GTX 101. I only used it for omelets so it was rarely used. One morning I saw an infomercial on the GTX 101 which I was amazed. I've been using my plain old omelet maker once again for more than omelets. All you have to do is download the GTX 101 recipe book. My omelet maker only cost me $15.00 at CVS pharmacy.
Oh and you could remove the omelet easier if you sprayed the wells with non stick cooking spray.
I've seen too many infomercials in my life. My current sypnosis is that if the product eventually makes its way to retail stores (I've seen the GT Xpress in a couple places here), then it works. The only reason they start on TV is because they cannot sell it nationwide to all the different stores, right?
I've always been convinced that the machines used on the infomercial is much better put together, more non-stick, etc. to make it look better than it actually is. They could sell it that way, but it wouldn't be as cheap then. My main concern, it looked awfully small when I saw on at my store the other day. Do you think it's too small or as big as they say?
i have one of these and yes cakes dont come out good in it it cant expand very well like in a oven so the cakes come out more like a drier brownie cookie type texture. but it works great for things that i make in it like omlettes and tortilla wraps and cornmeal mix with hot dogs inside.. Although i do flip it when cooking since it sometimes it dont cook very well from the top part.
the way i did my choclate cake was i used Duncan hines white cake mix i did as instructed on the box to make the batter put it in the GT express then i poked it with a toothpick came out clean but the INSIDE was still soft like not as cooked like the OUTSIDE IS so i put it back in. cooked it more then the outside got darker and a tiny bit burnt then the inside was cooked but still soft not raw though then you let it cool down the texture of the cake was more like spongy not the same as in a Oven
that was me "needadisguise commenting on here wll today i made a cake a Betty crocker LEMON cake, and it was to DIE for! it cooked Perfectly! i filled the wells with 1/4 batter. cooked for 8 min and did the toothpick test. when i took out the toothpick it was not wet so means it was ready. once i opened the cake it was done "perfectly cooked" inside and moist NOT spongy nor dry. so easy to make. my folks liked it alot as well. now i know how to make cakes in it correctly.
Great job...just a note that the spatula goes in easiest if you come in from the flat side...also, there is a recipe in the cookbook to divide a box cake into 3 sections so you make only enough to cook 2 cakes at a time. Also, I usually always use a light spray of non stick just to be sure and prevent build up by wiping out while still hot with a damp cloth.
The reviews on Amazon mention the non-stick coating chiping and bubbling off; the date of your post is only a few weeks ago, but have you had any problems with that so far?
Did your xpress 101 need any cooking spray for the Chocolate cake? Looks delicious! I bought an older one, hadn't use much though, it had 4 shells and the lid can hold up when opened, (so good for that). But I realized it wasn't really non-stick, not a big deal, I just need to spray some pam or similar. Please share with us some recipes in the future.
it works! , but can food be burn in it? and does the food lift up when its cooked or u have to time it? is the only way washing it is wipeing it with a wet napkin?
Well, they have a newer version of this that has a built in timer. It is called the Xpress Redi Set Go. In this version of the product, you have to time it yourself.
You can wash it however you want, but isin't it easier to just wipe it out?

your expressions while eating the food is so funny.
i think it mightve been difficult to spoon the omelet out because youre supposed to spoon it from the middle outwards? maybe.
anyway, great review; sounds like a good investment!

No, that's the way it came. The top doesn't stay up at all.
9malls 2 years ago
Hi 9malls, Thanks for your reply. Wouldn't you rather
have the Express Redi Set Go Machine that the
top does stay up. The company sent me another
timer knob for the machine. I love my Machine
and I use it every day. Think about this machine
because I do not see how you can use a machine
that the top doesn't stay up that's too much trouble
to keep holding the top up.
