The Last Guardian is a third-person perspective game that combines action-adventure and puzzle elements. The player controls the unarmed boy who can run, jump, climb and perform other actions similar to the gameplay in Ico and Shadow of the Colossus.
I think its cool they are keeping the same art style. If you read the article in the PS mag, they say they are keeping the art style used in both ICO and SOTC but improving on it with the power of the PS3, instead of going with an all new concept and idea like alot of developers do...
Out of the whole video, you souded stupid when describing the creature. Animals with high light sensing in their eyes reflect the light right back out. You see that "glow" in the dark at certain angles. The creature is not changing it's eye color.
I wish I had the patience to play games like this, I had SOTC never got to far into because it just moved to slow for me. To me this is a type of game I would rather help somebody else with (I know that's weird)

What is all of this crap I keep reading in the comments about this game being canceled? This game isn't canceled, not by a long shot. Sony said themselves that they are waiting until the right time to show the game off where they can really give the game the full attention it deserves. It wasn't at E3 because their lineup was already too packed. As a result, many expect to see it at TGS2010 in a big, big way. I can't wait! :D

if the wings are grown at the end of the game, i would pay full standart retail price just to be able to fly and swim in a scenerie that team ico created, it must be amazing, but with team ico's game you dont just get a beautifull game, you also get an emotionnal story, epic boss battles, complexe puzzels, team ico is by far my favorite game developper EVER!
I have had this theory, that the guards may not be human. In the 'beta' trailer, the guard sounded like he 'grunted' after being attacked. But in the new version, there was no sound. And the way they look, almost seems like they may be some kind of animated statues.

what if there were many different kinds of these animals and each had a guardian(you the player) and somehow they all died (shadow of the colussus) and this is the 17 colussus that was scrapped from the game? i know this game might take place thousands f years after shadow of the colussus, but an eye opener of the story would be soooooooooooo cool.
SotC was indeed brilliant. and it came at the perfect time to remind developers that small, simple, concise and origional games are greater than any "hyper epic" FPS. petty no one took any notice (looks at halo)

i was actually looking at the single player, i dont much care for MP on consoles. halo 1 was indeed a revolutionary game. and i look back at it very fondly. it redefined the FPS genre in many ways. but it was also the game that started the shovelware / cloned FPS revolution. and every halo after the original failed to innovate like the first one had. i used halo as an example more for 2 onwards where the game remained much the same for a decade with few real changes.

I wouldn't say that Shadow of the Colossus is a sequel to Ico. I'd say that it's another game from the developers who made this, and it's somewhat related to Ico.
What I mean is, it's good they didn't make an Ico 2, or SotC2. Get it now?
@REVLEX321 Yes, I'm also currently playing Resistance 1. It doesn't matter if it's a few years old. It's still a lot of fun, and it has an amazing storyline. It's my favourite fps game of all time.
Sometimes, realism doesn't serve as much fun as it should. CoD's gameplay seems so mediocore and boring to me in my opinion. Games like Resistance or Halo are a lot of fun since they let you strategize on how you want to get around your enemies.
@EnglishTurtle True. But it's not like the game may necessarily be a big tie-in, it could very well just be another tale in the same world. Since it's quite true that ther'es not much else to wrap up between Ico and Shadow (aside from how the horned kids started being sent to the castle).

I think wander is Ico.... at the end he turns into a baby with horns, and Ico is a child with horns...... I'm just saying I think Wander grows into Ico.

Those are not arrows sticking out of the monster. Feathers on birds grow in with a sheath looking like spikes the feathers are breaking out of their sheaths slightly and thats why feathers are sticking out of the ends of the sheaths.
This game is the only reason I would want to buy a PS3. I love Team ICO, I can't wait to play this. Their games are so gorgeous, it's hard not to fall in love with them!
I want to say this happens after Shadow but before Ico. I don't know why... I just get that feeling seeing as how Shadow took place decades before Ico.
from my understanding, each game takes place hundreds or even thousands of years apart. That's enough time for kingdoms to rise and fall, for cities of stone to be built and ruined. And there's no reason to believe the locations in each game are necessarily in the same place. I imagine that each setting is probably on the same fictional continent, with different regions being more developed/inhabited than others.
It's all guess work though as Fumito Ueda has not given many solid answers.
@videochemist Fumito stated in an iterviev that shadow of the collosus is a prequel to ico and when youre reicarnated in the en of shadow you become ico.
I love learning about this mythology he has created for this unique world. I knew about SOTC being a prequel, and I am aware there is a link between Ico and Wanda, either through reincarnation or direct bloodline.
BUT Fumito never stated the baby at the end of SOTC is Ico. In fact, I do remember reading an interview with him where he states that the games take place hundreds of years apart.
Although I can understand why you might think it's Ico, the game is ambiguous. But it 100% isn't him.

Ico is the other game. It was released on PS2 like 8 years ago. It was really good but didn't sell that well, especially in the States. Team Ico developed all three.

Shadow of the Colossus is a prequel to Ico, as it shows many plot elements connected over a timeline to Ico, such as Wander getting horns from Dormin, and Ico, his descendant, having horns.

There doesn't need to be a sequel for everything. Some sequels actually turn out to displease fans. :/
Games like Resistance, CoD, and Killzone do need sequels in order to keep their fanbase and online play strong due to competing games.
But Ico, SotC, and this don't need sequels. They're more focused on bringing about a new world and story.

I wouldn't say that Shadow of the Colossus is a sequel to Ico. I'd say that it's another game from the developers who made this, and it's somewhat related to Ico.
What I mean is, it's good they didn't make an Ico 2, or SotC2. Get it now?

sotc is actually a prequel, set in an unspecified time or place before ico.

Because they have interesting stories and way of acting and storytelling.
Cant say the same about Cod. COD players dont care about the story, they just want the multiplayer.

@REVLEX321 Yes, I'm also currently playing Resistance 1. It doesn't matter if it's a few years old. It's still a lot of fun, and it has an amazing storyline. It's my favourite fps game of all time.
Sometimes, realism doesn't serve as much fun as it should. CoD's gameplay seems so mediocore and boring to me in my opinion. Games like Resistance or Halo are a lot of fun since they let you strategize on how you want to get around your enemies.

@EnglishTurtle True. But it's not like the game may necessarily be a big tie-in, it could very well just be another tale in the same world. Since it's quite true that ther'es not much else to wrap up between Ico and Shadow (aside from how the horned kids started being sent to the castle).

@PopyseedStudios Which is just a term devs use to escape the word "sequel" if they're making a game that takes the gameplay style of a classic game whose rights they don't really own, make some tweaks, and release it to a new audience (Bioshock), or if they're just trying to be artsy (this game.) :P

I think wander is Ico.... at the end he turns into a baby with horns, and Ico is a child with horns...... I'm just saying I think Wander grows into Ico.

Those are not arrows sticking out of the monster. Feathers on birds grow in with a sheath looking like spikes the feathers are breaking out of their sheaths slightly and thats why feathers are sticking out of the ends of the sheaths.

Just because the buildings in this are new,
On ico the buldings are quite damaged(from time apparently)
And in SoTc are almost destroyed(by the passing of time eventually)
At least that's what i heard from some people.
And i think that it makes sense.

from my understanding, each game takes place hundreds or even thousands of years apart. That's enough time for kingdoms to rise and fall, for cities of stone to be built and ruined. And there's no reason to believe the locations in each game are necessarily in the same place. I imagine that each setting is probably on the same fictional continent, with different regions being more developed/inhabited than others.
It's all guess work though as Fumito Ueda has not given many solid answers.

I love learning about this mythology he has created for this unique world. I knew about SOTC being a prequel, and I am aware there is a link between Ico and Wanda, either through reincarnation or direct bloodline.
BUT Fumito never stated the baby at the end of SOTC is Ico. In fact, I do remember reading an interview with him where he states that the games take place hundreds of years apart.
Although I can understand why you might think it's Ico, the game is ambiguous. But it 100% isn't him.

ok i forgot what prequel meant but i aint buying this...cuz i want shadow of the colossus 2 dammit :(........ or maybe they could port it to ps3 version like god of war 1 & 2 got upgraded and ported as a ps3 version and maybe with a leaderboard to test your skills against people on how fast you can kill a colossus

lol dont u get it that team ico will never make games like" ICO 2" or "SHADOW OF THE COLOSSUS 2" its jus not them, but they do connect all games though. for example in the sotc ending wander is reborn with horns, thus connecting it to ico. the last guardian, just like sotc, will be conected to sotc and ico. we dont know how it is connected yet but well find out soon, so stop whinning.

Ico is the other game. It was released on PS2 like 8 years ago. It was really good but didn't sell that well, especially in the States. Team Ico developed all three.
