@lisagazz they made queen of the damned into a film ! im just confuzed as to whether u have seen that 1 just coz u said its a shame they only got 1 of the books to film xlol x
@fruitloop4eva QOTD was made into a film and Anne Rice lent her name to it, but did not have a part in the making of it as it was haphazardly pieced together with bits from "The Vampire Lestat" and "QOTD". It didn't follow the books--and all because of money; studio didn't want to produce two movies and Anne was not on board with that. Its a shame too because I really would have loved to see what more Stuart Townsend could have done with the role as I thought he was wonderful Lestat too.
I have to say I was suprised when they chose Tom Cruise to play Lestat all those years ago, but he really was breathtaking and played it perfectly. I love Anne Rice's novels...too bad they could only get the one book onto film.
@lisagazz I totally agree. Tom Cruise couldn't seem any more... unsuited for Lestat, but he ended up being great, IMO. He played Lestat just the way I imagined him while reading the book.
@lisagazz Actually, they DID adapt the 2nd & 3rd books onto film... In 2002, called the Queen of the Damned. Now, if ur a STRICT fan of the VC novels & dont like change, u prolly wont enjoy it 2 much... it's not strictly accurate 2 the books.
But, if ur open-minded: the characters are beautifully captured, the actors brilliant. The movie itself is interesting and entertaining and the cinematography is great, and I loved it. A diff actor plays Lestat, and he does an even BETTER job than Tom.
I think for Interview with the Vampire Tom Cruise played a good Lestat, but Stuart Townsend captured the aspect of Queen of the Damned better. I think Tom is incapable of playing Lestat's rock and sexuality that was portrayed in Queen of the Damned. They are both brilliant actors though!
@TheAngelintheShadows yes, i did see QOTD and i thought Stuart Townsend was a wonderful Lestat also. the movie was great in its own right; it just would have been nice to have all three books made into complete movies is all.

@lisagazz Queen of the Damned? Shit movie but it's there. I wish they would just start over and make the entire vampire chronicles into film. Get a good unknown cast, get producers with lots of money and have AnneRice present so that every part can be stringed together.
Actually they got Queen of the Damned as well and sort of combined The Vampire Lestat and Queen of the Damned into one movie with Stuart Townsend playing Lestat in that film.
