But I also affirm that the U.S. did not play under FIBA rules, as the referee declared the game a long time ago have orders not need to beep if it the USA and Spain. And how is the USA's olympic performance bad? They're ENTIRE olympic basketball record is 89 wins and 2 losses before their embarassment in the 2004 olympics. That is the only year I would say USA basketball was terrible. And they still got a bronze.
And the USA wins the overall medals in the olympics almost every year. And the USA olympic team has 2,514 medals all time.. the MOST. Second place is Britain with 736. It's not even close. USA has 1,008 golds.. 2nd most is Italy with 226.

This all star game there were only 4 international players (only 3 Europeans) so it will not be fair to take away about 8 spots from American all-stars to give to international players. The all-star game is to reward players playing like all-stars, FIBA is for international competition.
I know that international players have brought alot to the game... Dirk, Nash, Gasol, Tony Parker, and Tim Duncan can be considered international. But if there was a matchup like that it would be Nash, Parker, Turkoglu, Dirk, and Gasol versus Chris Paul, Dwayne Wade, Kobe, Lebron, and Dwight howard with Carmelo, J kidd, etc on the bench. There would be no contest.

How come the videos I view on YT regarding Spain usually has something to do with racism? It´s not necesary to get that far! I´m from Spain, and you have to understand that these players(Gasols, Rudy, Calderon, Navarro, Ricky...) are makin´us very proud with a very little number of followers(I promise). For the first time we are competitives (like you in soccer), and, thought USA is unreachable by now, Spain faced strong, giving us a great match. I´d like thousands more finals like this.

I think my rather, uh, vociferous, fellow Americans are missing the point: the US used to dominate basketball with totally amateur players - well, actually, just dominate the Olympics. The improvement in the rest of the world since the early 90s has been amazing. And it makes one wonder how a soccer mad country like Arg. can produce a world champion basketball team, but the US can't produce even a world class soccer team. Or rugby team. Our international performance overall is quite bad.

No my friend, you are wrong. The international players have gotten better, but not by as much as it appears. The Europeans embrace the concept of "team". The USA throws together a team of athletic superstars as individuals and expects them to mesh and play together. Ain't gunna happen. Jordan and company used to be SO GOOD that they could get away with it.

Think about it.. the Americans as individuals.. Kobe, Lebron, Chris Paul, Dwight Howard, Dwayne Wade, etc.. are still head and shoulders above the rest of the world as individuals. As a team, they don't mesh as good because they are so good as individuals. The Europeans still have a lot of catching up to do. I'd rather see a real team like the NBA champion represent the USA in olympics. That would be a team who has played together a whole season and has been tested.

And how is the USA's olympic performance bad? They're ENTIRE olympic basketball record is 89 wins and 2 losses before their embarassment in the 2004 olympics. That is the only year I would say USA basketball was terrible. And they still got a bronze.
And the USA wins the overall medals in the olympics almost every year. And the USA olympic team has 2,514 medals all time.. the MOST. Second place is Britain with 736. It's not even close. USA has 1,008 golds.. 2nd most is Italy with 226.

I agree with everything you have said except about the all-star game. This all star game there were only 4 international players (only 3 Europeans) so it will not be fair to take away about 8 spots from American all-stars to give to international players. The all-star game is to reward players playing like all-stars, FIBA is for international competition.

I know that international players have brought alot to the game... Dirk, Nash, Gasol, Tony Parker, and Tim Duncan can be considered international. But if there was a matchup like that it would be Nash, Parker, Turkoglu, Dirk, and Gasol versus Chris Paul, Dwayne Wade, Kobe, Lebron, and Dwight howard with Carmelo, J kidd, etc on the bench. There would be no contest.

I have to disagree with that. If you took the best international team against Team USA, it would be about even. I would probably give USA a slight edge. You're forgetting Yao. Parker is right there with Paul or Williams. Kobe, Lebron and Wade would be the difference in the game though.
