  • Nice. I'd like to try one. So that was a test flight after an annual overhaul and then take it back to the owner? I haven't flown for years. I found myself looking up at the sky at a 407 (as far as I could tell) hovering overhead this morning waiting outside a customer's residence for an appointment. I look forward to anything else helicopter related from you. After a long break from flying, it's hard to call myself a pilot. The good thing is, it only takes another hands-on flight to be able to.

  • @ComputerGrant yes returned it to Liverpool with my instructor. A rare opportunity for a student to fly a turbine especially that distance. All toward my hour building at the time. I promise I will be uploading more very soon, it's the editing i'm not very good at!

  • @UKHelicopterPilot OK mate. Stick with it. One edit at a time. If there are any flight schools in Japan that use the Schweizer 300 - I want to have a flight. I can't afford a course or anything but would like to get back in the saddle at least once so I can call myself a pilot again. After such a long break - I am curious if I can still fly.

Talk again. I'll keep an eye out for updates from you.

  • ya cut out half the start up?? thats the whole point to listen the a startup turbine.....

  • @blackmesa25 That's because in this case the startup included service work and lasted ages. And I didn't get the camera rolling early enough to catch the beginning! Sozza!

  • @UKHelicopterPilot

hey no worrys maty! It's a wicked video anyway and thanx for ya reply ;-)

  • hey is that Walton Wood airfield???

  • @punjab555 Correct! ;-)

  • @UKHelicopterPilot Flew a 44 in there this year from Dublin, very nice little setup there!

  • @punjab555 Yes it is but I think it's just a Private one for getting to the Service Hangar!

  • Whats the advantage to the fantail?

  • @HunterTomke1234

A Fenestron or fantail, is a shrouded tail rotor that is essentially a ducted fan. It counteracts the torque of the main rotor. Originally conceived by Eurocopter. While conventional tail rotors typically have two or four blades, Fenestrons have between eight and 18 blades and the noise is distributed over different frequencies and thus sounds quieter. The housing allows a higher rotational speed than a conventional rotor, allowing it to have smaller blades. Ok? ;-)

  • Yes, it's a very quiet helicopter, being a fantail machine.

  • good copter .

How much for this kind ???

  • @boonthip100 A lot! approx between £550,000 and £950,000 depending on age, condition, etc etc, this is a best guess so please treat it as such!

  • TO BE THAT CLOSE, AND ALMOST NOT A SOUND

  • Wonderful, without music!!

  • can u plz tell me what helicopters are muti-purpose for like different uses

  • They have one of these as a rescue helicopter here in Queensland Australia. The Westpac surf lifesaving chopper!

  • @driftlab How cool, Im training to fly the AGL Rescue Helicopter.

  • @SlittyDrake For real? That would be an amazing job :)

  • Nice helicopter. Is it based at Liverpool? If so who owns it?

  • Excellent rise helicopters from Staverton we went with it was fantastic

  • how much?

  • damn.. thats a cool looking heli!! I'd love to fly a copter, how do you go about getting flight lessons??

  • british pilots fly on the other side of the sky then the rest of the world ....:-D

  • eurocopter are the best :)

  • ec-135 eurocopter for air support unit &helimed 99!thats its big brother.

  • can somebody explain the purpose of the jet engines on helicopters?

  • @peacepcf yes same principle as on fixed wing aircraft!jet turbine connected to gearbox ,gearbox connected to rotor driveshaft.

  • @tetramoo ahh, thanks

  • @peacepcf More power with less vibration, and better efficiency

  • I think I just saw a R44

  • vean en este video al 1:41 pasa a lo lejos un objeto no identificado por la parte de abajo del helicoptero ala derecha

  • Needs more weight up front. Who wants to go for a helicopter ride?

  • @briansmobile1 Looks like he took off with a tailwind.

  • ke chilo el helicoptero

  • Cool video - Europeans design some sexy helicopters! Love hearing the whine of the turbine when you push the starter and the clicking of the igniters. Too bad the rotors spin the wrong way.

    Signed, The Flying Filmmaker

  • beautiful landing. love the helicopter

  • Contrast that with a bell 206 which hovers nose low depending on fuel.

  • is it just me or is the rotor trim really high??

  • I've also shot a video of a EC-120B. Kinda coinsedence, I was just outside and they landed near a farm and started doing round flights with it.. Such an awesome heli. I really need to at least get my RPL(H) SOON. Or ehh.. Try a first lesson to see how I do haha

  • What a beauty, gorgeous sound....I'm not too knowledgeable about helicopters but have suddenly got much more interested in them. I once saw an R44 land close to where i was sitting at an airfield, the guy refuelled then was off into the big blue again....what awesome little machines.

  • Have done my first 10 hours in the 120 that 3 partners and I are purchasing (ZS-RZZ). Mostly on a trip around the islands off Bazaruto in Mozambique and then the ferry back to Johannesburg.

She's a stunning machine although when hot and high somewhat limited, but not too bad.

A big jump from my R44!

  • Thats awsome. I think these birds are so cool. I fly a R44 now and its fun but wanna get into a turbine.

  • héhé plaisir de votre notre ancien HB-ZEZ :D il va bien :O toujours aussi beau en tous cas !!!

  • HB-ZEZ has the same paint job but it's not the same aircraft, there are a few 120's with this pain job in Europe, clearly popular as they do look brill when pimped like this!!!

  • sweet helicopter! my city's police department fly's and E120 very unusual sound from the tail rotor

  • Love the paint job around the fenestron!

To expensive on self fly hire though....

  • Yep, keep buying the lottery ticket. I got a very favorable rate the one and only time i flew this aircraft and the memory will stay with me forever...

    They are awesome to fly...

  • All I can say is yes, i'll play me Lottery and you lucky Bas****!!!

    I'm truly jealous!

  • Can't get enough of EC 120's. Am in the process of buying one even though at altitude (5,500ft and hot) it is rather limited. But he best looking chopper around.

  • Couldn't agree more, i will never forget that day flying it back to Liverpool Airport was an absolute dream and a pleasure...

  • depends where you are though right. If your in the UK, when I you gonna fly a EC120 above 5000ft?!

  • I don't think he's in the UK Spidey ;-)

  • ah no, I see he's in South Africa now.....

Still I hear there not as under powered as people say..... usually the people who havent flown them say that. I dont know though as I havent flown one either :(

    One day....One day.... ;)

  • my ex boss owned this helicopter before it was re-painted, it used to be red and white

  • yes i know, thats what a £**K paint job does for you! Brilliant results, regardless of paint, it is an awesome machine to fly...

  • I love woeking around the ec-135 what a joy when air one comes into kmmu. air one is a aero medical helo based out of Morristown Hospital. also great vid.Tim

  • That's my machine - although not at the time you fimed it. Now located at Redhill aerodrome, Surrey.

  • Excellent! Hope you liked the video, pm me with an email address if you want and i'll send you all the photos!

  • wonderful vid..thanks for postin

  • I noticed it also. they generally pick up pretty level. U can see the slope in the first few seconds. this is a nice one. I love the 120,130,bell222,355, and the 355 heli-lynx conversion. EC makes a good very responsive unit.

  • I never realized they were so heavy in the rear....it picked up heavy on those hind legs...Cool vid

  • Well spotted, difficult to appreciate on the video but its actually sat on a 5 degree slope! which accounts for the tail heavy take off. cheers for the comment. More to come in Feb/March.

  • Oh, good job then...My heart might skip a beat if something I was piloting picked up that far back...lol. Yeah when the spring comes sounds like both of us will be back to flying then...!

    be safe!

  • If you think that is nose high, take a look at a Blackhawk (UH-60) hovering...We usually hover around 7-10 degrees nose high. It's weird to get used to at first, but it's truly a dream to fly. The Cadillac of ALL helicopters, IMO.

  • i wanna try the rah-66...i will i know

  • this video is gr8
