  • WTF was that???

  • Hey open your minds a little...she sings it with a tinge of a jazz, pop, and classical to make it something that's hers...great job...you try hit those notes live!! wonderful

  • ¡¡¡QUE HORROR!!!

  • ES TERRIBLEEEE, QUE MAL GUSTO Y ADEMAS CANTA BASTANTE MAL .

  • This is terrible - it's not good opera singing nor is it good pop. She croons through the music in a saccharine approximation of music. It is truly quite the worst singing I have heard. I must repeat I am not an opera snob, but this is so very bad even for pop singing. It is hilariously bad. It is really funny. Gives opera AND pop a bad name.

  • ay, pero que Dios la perdone, ajja

  • i am in awe of this amazing lady, having listened to all other available versions by legendary names of opera nuthing can change my opinion Fillipas interpretation and tone, expression and hermodern approach can only open the door to a far wider audience, absolutely stunning !!!

  • @philpo her voice is pure and full of emotion! just because she interprets the music differently doesn't show a lack of respect or "disregard"!!!! you are ridiculous.... cheap popera? an italian slut? i'm not going to stoop to your level by writing a paragraph of pathetic insults but i will say that the world has no place for unnecessarily hateful people like you so go and gain some form of musical expertise and then get back to me

  • @Rhi90210 Are you deaf? Pure voice - she wobbles and shakes, no support and has no real passion - all unsupported whispering. She is manufactured by the record company - she has little voice.

  • Really? This screaming mess, by this little Italian slut, is Casta Diva? The musicians behind her do not rise to lynch her? She is the ugliest example of cheap popera ignorance and stupidity, Italian or otherwise. Do people not hear the ZERO voice, zero technique and style, and blatant disregard for an aria which is an operatic gem? Send her back to the whorehouse, with a bottle of gin, to screw sweaty Neapolitan truckers.

  • @philipc67 You are 100% correct - this is terrible (it's not even good pop singing)

  • @philipc67 Well said - I just wonder why people cannot hear the truth? This is bad opera AND pop singing - whatever she is trying to do she can't do it. In fact she's not even trying.

  • asco pilipa!

  • my dear flowersings, you should learn before to have respect to people who works a lot and loves music like Filippa does...you should know, and I know for sure, that filippa can sing original opera in an astonishing way, I heard her once...but she decided to personalise opera in a very unique and impossible to imitate way. do not judge if you ignore!!!!!!!

  • Just awful. Filippa shame on you! Go back to singing Mambo songs, Italian pop and other Euro pop music. This is serious bel canto opera owned by Maria Callas, Joan Sutherland and Montserrat Caballe... it's not for you. You make even Cecilia Bartoli's little light whispery version sound better. You totally killed this song by lowering it to the level of a wedding singer's pop version. Disgusting.

  • love her first album, one of my definite favourites, i never get tired of it.

  • I don't like this even for a pop version. This is one aria that all popera singers should steer clear of. It's not mean't to be sung by a pop voice. Her voice is fine for pop and popera songs, but she needs more training to carry off an aria. I'm not sure that she even has the instrument for opera, but that's okay because there is nothing wrong with popera singers. I like popera, just not arias sung by popera singers.

  • ciao Arpeggio,,,,I am glad we are on the same level...Not that I am an opera expert, but one needs ear plugs to listen to this 'horror'..I just listened to her version of 'O mio babbino caro'..I almost threw up..an abomination!

  • @felsineo1 All of these popera singers are an abomination. Have you listened to Katherine Jenkins, Sarah Brightman, Tarja Turunen, Andrea Bocelli, Charlotte Church, Hayley Westenra, Russell Watson, Prince Poppycock? thery're all ghastly and an insult to opera.

  • @arpeggio1358 ..Prince what? No one with a name like that should ever be allowed to sing, opera in the least!!..I am only familiar with Brightman who should stick to 'The Phantom of the Opera' and Bocelli who should stick to classic songs or neapolitan...I think!!

  • @felsineo1 Yup, Prince Poppycock. He apparently was on one of those "Whoever's Got Talent" shows, dresses like a dandy, and tries to sing opera arias. Look him up on YT.

  • @arpeggio1358 At least Prince doesn't pretend to sing opera arias seriously - his is a comedy, opera parody act... He'd be probably would've been OK as a comedy feature in the now-closed Asti cabare, similar to the owner's pizza act. He obviously can't sing arias, but unlike others he doesn't really pretend to do anything but over-the-top comedy. Plus, he did get a lot of people to look up these same arias sung by opera singers - I've been watching the comments, so he deserves credit for that.

  • @felsineo1 If you ever heard Bocelli without amplification, you would cringe. put "Andrea Bocelli Metropolitan Opera" into your YouTube browser, click on La donna e mobile. He doesn't use a mic because the Met has no mics. Bocelli's voice is thin, reedy, and amateurish without the amplification he always uses in other concerts and on recordings. Don't worry, Prince Poppycock will never sing a role in an opera.

  • @arpeggio1358 I agree with this statement! They should all stick to pop repertoire!!!

  • @felsineo1 Completely agree!!!!

  • ..this is a 'travesty' of 'Casta Diva'!!! the whole musical operatic score and enunciation of this aria has been 'f..... up'..please don't mess with opera!!

  • @felsineo1 Finally someone who agrees with me on this. The popera singers do make a travesty of opera. They have no concept of how opera should be sung. Giordano, along with Katherine Jenkins, is one of the worst.

  • @arpeggio1358 I don't have much love for Jenkins, but IMHO Giordano is considerably worse. It's all relative...

  • @jewelmarkess Somehow, Jenkins managing to mangle opera the way she does despite a RA education, absolutely boggles the mind. Giordano and Jenkins are both pretty bad.

  • @arpeggio1358 True, if we consider that Jenkins has RA education, they yes. But Giordano had apparently opera singers for parents. Also, she goes after difficult arias and just butchers them. It's like no aria is safe from Giordano. I think she wins the ghastliness contest.

  • realmente hermoza voz

  • wow...people can be so cruel....and disgusting! Whether this is true 'opera' I don't know. I am not a fan of Opera...however...I love this woman. She has a wonderful voice and is gorgeous too. I just love listening to her sing.....but then EVERYONE is different :)))))

  • @XxBecCourtneyxX She has very little voice - even for pop. This is objectively terrible - artificial, manufactured, passionless and out of tune. Dreadful.

  • @XxBecCourtneyxX No, sorry this is just badly sung - any genre, pop or opera.

  • Wow! I can't believed 185 people liked this video. Unplug your years. You don't have to be an opera fan to notice that this is at least incredibly cheesy.

  • I like it, I like it! Thanks for posting this!

  • Maria Callas would have died of a heart attack had she listened to this. If she said that comparing her with Renata Tebaldi was like comparing champagne with cognac, what would she say about Filippa? Diet coke?

  • i love this song done by her

HORRIBLE!!!!

  • Filippa Giordano's fans in Italy probably see her as their Sarah Brightman. The British pop singer Brightman also sings a lot of opera arias but she's not an opera singer; just a Broadway singer who made a career out of singing pop or alternative music. Giordano's version is not true to the Bellini original; it's not an operatically trained or experienced voice. She doesn't have the dramatic coloratura voice like Callas, Sutherland, Caballe etc. It's lovely but it's only a pop concert

  • If you are going to TRY and write in Italian , at least get your tenses correct, moron.

By the way your Greek sucks even worse than your Italian, seems like sucking runs in your family.

So Mr wise guy, what sort of credentials do you have that makes you think you can judge ? Do you sing yourself ? Singing in the shower don't count

  • Listening to Filippa Giordano singing her version of Casta Diva led me to exploring other people's interpretation of this particular piece of music. Callas and Sutherland sing it particularly well from a purists perspective. I still come back to how Filippa Giordano sings it though, I think it has something to do with the passion in which she sings the song, perhaps it's her Italian background. Regardless, Filippa brings a fresh and different way to listen to opera.

  • @guako1990 ASÍ ES, YO DESCUBRÍ EL GENERO MÁS HERMOSO DE TODOS, LA OPERA, DESPUÉS DE ESCUCHAR A FILIPPA GIORDANO, Y SI, ULTIMADAMENTE SI NO LES GUSTA PUES NO LO ESCUCHEN Y YA, LAISSER VIVRE

  • it is a sticky version of pop.... IT IS NOT OPERA!~~ JEEZ

  • it´s very unusual but is beauty, but i prefer the original versioon

  • Well not always must we deny when someone tries and rich this ebene that we wish to have. She is really good in her art-level. I love operas but here I have someone who disserves to be applauded. This song is really very difficult to sing seriousness. She richest the maximum and I love it.

  • this is a modernisation of opera. I like classical music but do not like opera. I own this album and it is good. I think it is a good introduction to those who are not great fans, or not fans at all of opera.

  • hahahahaha..orribile!!!!!

  • @vicky58greece1 Callas is the best but there are still many great Normas who followed her. Joan Sutherland, Montserrat Caballe, Shirley Verrett, Jane Eaglen. This singer, Filippa Giordano is not a professional opera singer. She is an Italian pop singer. She can't sing opera.

  • This is terrible. This is not true to Bellini's Norma or bel canto. This Casta Diva is the Karaoke version or American Idol pop version

  • @AmericanEvita - nobody is the same, we are living in collor full world, why you dont listening only to Maria Callas. She was fantastic in this aria, but she is not alived. Nobody will sing like Callas and nobody will sing like Filippa Giordano. New Voice, new feeling, new time, new expression, more beauty women then Callas as well.

  • @AndrzejIsinana44 Yes but Joan Sutherland, Montserrat Caballe, Shirley Verret, Grace Bumbry and Renata Scotto are still alive. They are retired opera singers but they are still alive and sang true opera. Filipa is not an opera singer. She is an Italian pop singer without any formal opera training. This is a pop version of Casta Diva so if you like pop, that's ok, but THIS IS NOT OPERA.

  • @AmericanEvita AMEN

  • @AndrzejIsinana44 There are zillion singers alive today who sing better than this, not just those which are dead or retired. She is a pop singer, but it's not opera. Listen to Angela Meade singing this, for example, or Daniela Dessi. ANY opera soprano today can sing this better, even those who don't sing this role in opera, even those that are criticized most severely. Look up "Casta Diva - Norma contest" and listen to some 20 singers singing this.

  • @AndrzejIsinana44 Oh darlling. There are PLENTY of REAL opera singers who are not dead or retired who sing this aria operatically...and beautifully. Let's start with Renee Fleming....

  • @musikenergy Cecilia Bartoli, Anna Netrebko, Angela Gheorghiu, Natalie Dessay, Diana Damrau, Sumi Jo: these talented opera singers are still actively singing. Giordano is not an opera singer; she is an Italian pop singer. Didn't you hear her version of Mambo Italiano ?

  • @AmericanEvita That wasn't my point. Its obvious she's nothing close to an opera singer. But you implied that operatic singers were pretty much dead and irrelevant in singing this aria in your post. I had to correct you on that. And Mambo Italiano definitely isn't opera, so her singing that makes no point to me. I know pop and I know opera. Obviously you can't discern the two.

  • @musikenergy You're the one who's confused. Of course I can distinguish btwn opera and pop. I love opera and have loved opera for many years. I collect opera recordings, I love the big 20th century opera stars more so than today's stars; I'm a Callas fan, Corelli fan, Del Monaco fan, Domingo fan, Leontyne Price fan; I like several singers and know about the history of opera and everything about opera - so don't accuse me of knowing that. I know the difference btwn Tebaldi and Madonna

  • @AmericanEvita Darling I have nothing to be confused about. Your comment were negative about REAL opera singers and that's why you're getting negative feedback from not only me but other posters. Saying you know opera and your comments display two different things. Therefore, you can argue with yourself. You can reply and I will just ignore you. ROTFL!

  • Mi piaci molto Filippa Giordano è affascinante davvero.

    eccelente!!! abbracci...

    David.

  • Beautiful rendition. Seems to me to be more in the spirit of Bellini than some of the current crop of legit Normas that neither vocalize it well nor express anything. She reminds me of Adelina Patti's freedom to elaborate and improvise heard in her 1906 recording of Casta Diva.

  • Oh dear this is terrible...

Leave bel canto to those who know how to sing it!!! Please!

  • one of my favorite singer, beautiful interpretation thanks , Me gusta tambien con Maria Callas. Pero Filippa tiene una voz muy dulce.

  • Perfect! I love this voice... and Filippe.

  • que porqueria, this sucks!

  • how can anyone DISlike this?

OSCENA!!!

  • @matrixteo86

Non mescoliamo legittimi pareri con sentenze definitive!

  • This song, sung by this amazing Diva, transports me to another place, a place of soaring beauty and intense emotion.

  • Godddd. Pleace stop commenting if its not gonna be a good critic.

    And keep it friendly!:)

  • This is not quite as bad as her record of this. Personally I don't like her version of this but the record (which sold millions) was truly awful as it tried to be classical and was almostly comically inept. This is pretty embarassing also - not quiteFoster Jenkins but parts approach it. It's not that I am a purist but if people mess about with things it's got to work. This just doesn't and people think it's opera or pop - when it's neither. I don't know what it is

  • This was used as an advert for Irish opera station. Result!? thousands more listeners! Enough said!

  • Oh dear.

  • lovely voice

  • @Angeleyesabba

if this is a pop version why the orchestra?!!

    this is terrible!!

  • i love filippa! i first heard her on a free cd sampler abut 5 years ago and have been a fan ever since!

  • Comment removed

  • bravo... I see some comments about 'trained operasingers' etc., but Flippa's voice/formance is mesmerizing and passionate , makes me want to listen to classic music more ...

  • ma questa chi è??ma cs vuole?

  • Amazing Filippa!!!!!

  • A diamond in a different necklace can shine as bright.

  • @Glenmed Bad analogy. Giordano is an insult to the opera music she continually butchers. She has no respect for the way the composers intended this music to be sung.

  • Bel Canto,Bello Cantante, Bella Donna!

Sorry Kervineus, perhaps Maestro Bellini might just have changed his intentions had he seen, and heard, this beautiful woman and her wonderful voice!

  • aiuto! accorruomo!

Però è graziosa e piena di buona volontà.

  • Au secours !!!

  • I don't like at all. I prefer this wonmerful air sunmg by a very trained operasinger. here it has become a Pop-song. That is perhaps beautiful but has nothing to do with the intentions of Bellini.

    Kervineus

  • i agree with you, and giordano ..... well for me that's a nigthmare

  • very beautiful - reminds me of the scene with the blue alien from "Fifth Element" singing opera.

  • A living legend. But I can't find her CDs in music stores in Rome! How could that be? I resort to listening to her voice thru you tube!

  • Sometimes you hear a piece of music and you go on a search to learn about the singer and her music. This is how I found Filippa Giordano. I heard this whilst in a store in London. I found out about her and bought the CD. This was five years ago and I still listen to it more often than I do with many other CDs that I have. Thank you for showing this and letting us see her as she sings. It is simply magical

    Brava!

  • I too heard filippa giordano`s beautiful voice about ten years ago when i borrowed a cd from a lending library where can i buy her cd`s from i live in leicester and tried a few music shops a couple of years ago but none of them had her music in stock at the time would i have to order a cd do you think?

  • She is just reinventing opera. I LOVER HER STYLE.

  • Absolutely fantastic

  • If Opera songs need to be popular - should be performed like this - fantastic -congratulation Filippa.

  • Pure, pure joy to listen to

  • es un angel verdad de Dios

    saludos a mi novia Filippa

TE AMO FILIPPA GIORDANO ERES UNICA BEBE

  • Why isn't this rating higher? She is incredible. I get goosebumps listening to her sing Casta Diva!

  • I know, she is amazing,

By the way, I also love the cube of 7 and Vetiver (especially chez Guerlain). I am now listening to FG again, absolute bliss!

  • oh, shes amazing.I love this song .

  • Probably one of my favourite Filippa renditions, I love it.

Every word completely intelligible, every note spot on. Not what would be defined as opera in its 'pure' form so the style won't be to everyone's taste. But forget that, take it on its own merit and you can't deny it was a beautiful bit of singing.

(I think what puts some people OFF opera is the fact that it's often difficult to make out what female singers are trying to sing. No such problem here though, as I said).

    Brava!

  • WODERFULLLLLLLLL

  • I don't get why I love this unusual singer treading on thin ice - but ending up gliding across the frozen lake to land beautifully on the other side. As an opera lover, I guess I'm supposed to hate how she sings this famous aria, some purists might say butchers it, but I don't, I'm mesmerized by her version. I guess if anyone has such a unqiue, original style I'm ready for it these days. And really, the quality of her voice is quite beautiful.

  • grandiosa voz!!

  • omg i love her and her music... i cant understand her but its amazing!

  • Beautiful woman, beautiful singer, and so much passion! I just love her! Truly an angel of music.

  • ????

  • soooo beautiful I love fiippa singing casta diva it penetrates deep into the fibres of your very being si bella

  • brava Filippa Giordano, Palermitana D.O.C

  • Casta Diva.

  • We saw a Christmas concert of hers in Tokyo... Girl had a lot of nerve singing Disney crap and carols... even the Japanese audience was over her! She sang Casta Diva as an encore and we finally felt like we'd seen something...

    me encanta

  • aaa noi vooolgiiii il beeeeel sembiaaanteeeeeee *___*

  • una de sus mejores interpretaciónes! mencanta!

  • Thanks 4 add this videoo!! we need more videos from filippa!!!

  • Absolutely BEAUTIFUL! I love Filippa, ok, so the key is lowered by a third, but still...she sings with so much feeling, it is absolutely beautiful.
