I love first class in pendolino's! Was lucky enough to travel back from Glasgow to Milton Keynes in first class on Tuesday and even had a meal because it was a peak service!
@turin1 Same for me. Was making trips on here around 3 times a week for a whole year. Used to dislike it as it was tiring. Now these videos make me miss it so much!
That's first class?! Seriously, DB second class coaches (on ICE, at least) look pretty comparable and have in seat audio channels to boot. The seats look plasticy and cramped and not particularly comfortable. However the 15 quid weekend first deal is probably worth it, particularly if you want to use WIFI.
@ballyhigh11 But please bear in mind that not all first class coaches look like that in the UK, The company i travel to London with has much better first class facilities than Virgin trains.
@yellowlab212 If you arrive at a ticket office and just want a first class ticket, it could cost you a lot, as it all depends how far youre travelling. If you travel with virgin, for example, at the weekend, buy an advance purchace ticket (only do singles) - then just sit in first class and pay a £15 upgrade, like I did here. Usually the on the day first class ticket could cost up to £100, but I booked in advance (£7, and paid £15 upgrade payable to the train manager onboard) - big saving!
lol "Sandwell & Dudley" almost sounded like "Sunderland" when the train manager made the announcement. Also interesting to note that the passenger information screens aren't synchronised (look beyond the screen you filmed in your coach to the screen in Coach E).
lol. Yeah I noticed the error on the screens also, I'm guessing the train manager does each coach manually from train managers office (waste of seating space) for display?
Last one of the day from Euston to Wolverhampton. 1st is usualy empty on weekends anyway.I got a whole coach to my self about a year ago from Carlisle to Birmingham International.
r they comfortable?

I just wanna say thank you for posting this.
Used to travel in one of these, about twice a week.
I thought it was tiring then, but now, watching this and looking back, those were moments i will cherish for life.

Did you have the tripod on a table there lol?
GBRailwayWorld 2 years ago
lol yes but it was a special tripod designed for tables as it is so small and compact. I've rarely used it.

Couldn't agree with you more, for the price of £15, all I got was, 1 tea, 2 tiny packs of biscuits and a pack of crisps. Good value for money, not.
Last time I went on Virgin duringthe weekend, I got a hell of a lot more for the money.
Cheers
