One of the many reasons John Hughes is beloved by my generation because he had absolutely the best taste in music, bar none. This was when alternative truly meant alternative, songs that were not played on any mainstream radio stations in the U.S. The Cabaret Voltaire poster in Ferris Beuller's room is what got me.
