  • my favourite movie of all time, i always fancied Mary Stuart Masterson

  • 25 years later-Keith and Watts married w/5 kids, Amanda is the principal at their kid's high school. Keith runs his dad's business that are chain stores. Watts wants to play the drums again and forms a band of other hottie moms from the neighborhood. Hardie losses it all in the recession and he gets a job working for Keith. The Skinhead is a Juvenile Court judge who presides over one of their kid's who gets busted for hacking. Cindy, still the annoying little sister and lives at home.

  • @beksblzr cindy is not annoying.. she warned keith.. Cindy becomes a social worker.

  • Amazing 80's movie, watched it over and over at the time, got it on ebay for a quid ! Also got fire with fire, virginia madsen and craig sheffer,if you like the 80's get them, you won't be dissapointed !

  • I LOOOOOOVE this music - couldnt find it anywhere else. Does MSM actually do the drumming - looks like it!

  • @ThePurecommando Yep! She actually learned how to drum for this movie!!

  • WATTSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!

  • the only drummer that I've ever fancied,...

  • i can listen to this songs without ever getting tired of it, great intro sequence.

i love john hughes, and love his movies but don't think this one is his absolute best. still really really good though

  • Song : Abuse

    Artist: Propaganda

    Album: Wishful Thinking

  • Cool as beans eric stoltz doesn't have to move when a train is coming...he moves cuz he wants to. (:

  • that guys eric stoltz it's hot

  • Deffo the best intro to a film. I like Duncan at the party near the end. "I'm gonna make him cry a little bit. '

  • Trivial Pursuit :

This song is not on the soundtrack and the book says its Frankie go's to Hollywood.

  • Trivial Pursuit :

This song is not on the soundtrack and the book says its from Frankie gos to Hollywood.

  • @tck661s what is the name of this song? I was going to buy the soundtrack but this song was the whole reason for that venture.

  • Friends like watts is what every guy needs to go through highschool

  • Einfach nur - GEIL !!!

  • Some kind of wonderful > Pretty in pink...

  • I miss both the 70s and the 80s music and movies.

They don't make 'em like they used to!!!

P.S. Now hollywood is trying to make remakes from the 70s and 80s. Nothing original anymore!

  • @firstclasslady50 Not in the slightest. They can't even come close to making a decently comparable rendering. They seem to always miss the essence of either period. The put 70s or 80s, famous, songs on the sound track and give them crazy hair but that's about all. A modern movie in costume.

  • I had such a crush on Miss Masterson and I got the chance to see her a couple of years back in a play at the Old Vic.

  • For those looking for this exact version of the opening song, it's called "Abuse" by Propaganda which is a remix of their own song from '84, "Dr. Mabuse". "Abuse" is from Propaganda's 1985 album "Wishful Thinking." It is the A-side 3:26 "Abuse."

  • @lolz2561 Thanks, I needed that!

  • @pwells: ...but he ends up with her by the end so it's cool. They should have made a

  • met mary stuart masterson about 8 years ago very nice,

    mark.

  • I MISS THE 80'S, ESPECIALLY FILMS LIKE THIS, JOHN HUGHES RIP

  • The 80's were great times. Very fond memories.

  • This is so effin awesome.

  • To win big what do you have to do? Lose, lose big. What are we doing now? We're losing big. Why don't you take me outside?

  • I love mary stuart......i Love this movie....I love the open scene....

  • Whoops forgot! When I meant this specific version. I meant this mix without the backround noises of the film. (the train etc)

  • I know there are several versions of this song. I was wondering if anyone knew if this specific version is available on CD, or even MP3?

  • @kryptonian55 I think it's on the soundtrack. one of the best scenes of the movie. MSM is way hotter than LT.

  • love this movie.. i miss the 80s music so much!

  • Eric Stoltz has aged well. He was way hot back then. Remember this from high school..

  • Teens today don't have movie like we did. Grateful to be a teen of the 80's.

  • ugh why can't it be 1987 right now!??

  • @seventeenboi Yeah, why can't it be 1987? I miss the '80s bad-ly

  • I love this movie and Lea Thompson was so hat amazing in this movie.

  • I always wondering how i end up to be a drummer all these days. After watching this movie again, it's recalled back in my brain that i've been inspired by Masterson 23 years ago..

  • i think "mary stuart masterson" is very pretty. also Lisa Kudrow- i would like to have the pleasure of kissing lisa kudrow; just her lips, no french kiss!

  • mary stuart masterson was gr8 in this& in benny & joon

  • One of the best openings in teen agnst filmdom!

  • Just watched it again, fantabulous!

  • eric stoltz was cute here but i have no idea what happened to him now......but hey more power to him eh?

  • @pennylane1174.....Don't know if he is still doing movies but I saw him in Grey's Anatomy and Caprica.....

  • watts is da best!

  • this was an epic beginning=D

  • Of of the many awesome 80s movies that screams RAD 80s out loud!

  • I have seen this movie like over 50 times!!! Thanks for uploading this yay!!! This totally rocks!! <3333

  • Pretty fucking racy opening scene, MSM makes one hot tomboy and ES is a smokin' boy from the other side of the trax!

  • love this film, it is my all time favorite

  • John Hughes named the movie after a song.

  • best fucking opening song ever

  • Such a great film! Bring back a lot of happy memories :)

  • My favorite movie! My favorite character: Watts! My favorite on screen kiss between Keith & Watts! BTW, her character name was based on Charlie Watts, drummer of the Rolling Stones and she learned how to play the drums...so cool!

  • SKOW: watch?v=c3noOR00E64

  • To win big what do you have to do? Lose, lose big. What are we doing now? We're losing big.

  • i want to marry watts.

  • I have a question...why is it named "some kind of wonderful"?

  • i love this movie!!

  • Gran theme

  • A hot chick playin' the drums...yeah !!!

  • kick butt!!

  • R . I . P. JOHN HUGHES crackin film

  • cool music. love the bit where eric stoltz is walking up to the train

  • same here

  • I love the drumming in this and far the best film of the BRAT PACK FILMS.....R.I.P SIR JOHN HUGHES X

  • love this! thank you for putting it up

  • R.I.P John Hughes;((

  • its why i feel for girls in doc martins n rolled up jean shorts when i was 14

  • its was a great movie!

  • I LOVE this movie!

  • I loved this opening. My friends and I saw this movie 4 times in the theatre. Mary Stuart Masterson looks good playing the drums and the song is very cool (although obviously synthesized drums). RIP John Hughes.

  • Comment removed

  • JOHN HUGHES make movies for a generation,,,WEIRD SCIENCE,PRETTY IN PINK,SIXTEEN CANDLES,FERRIS BUELLER and of course THE BREAKFAST CLUB,,,men!!! what a movies!!!

  • @romeonarcizo agree thou i never liked pretty in pink. But strikes me as odd that back in the 80s nobody tried to use weird sience as a computer comercial.Considering all the really nerdy people would probable like the idea

  • Mary Stewart Masterson was way hotter than Lea Thompson and she's definitely aged better.

  • @pathfinderLXXIV , I never really thought that Lea Thompson was all that hot...even in All The Right Moves...

    thanks for the comment.

  • @pathfinderLXXIV not in the movie are you crazy

  • @MRPOOPDOG100 ... Yes... in the movie. MSM >LT

  • @pathfinderLXXIV The one problem with this movie was that the best friend was indeed WAY hotter than the popular girl, and this guy's an idiot for not fucking Watts.

  • @pathfinderLXXIV Yea tomboys RULE!!!

  • @pathfinderLXXIV i think that Watts chick is hot but Lea Thompson is wayyyyy hotter. we're talking marty mcflys mother here bro!

  • This is the best movie ever made. I came of age in the 80s and this film defines our generation. The 1980s were the best years ever.

  • @Verdunhunter agree with you h.hands down no question about it. no era has made sutch an impact on things as the 80s

  • @Verdunhunter Damn right!

  • @Verdunhunter you are so right...

  • @Verdunhunter Have you LOST it man? It's a complete disappointment. Unfortunately Hughs didn't direct it, and I always wonder how much better it would've been - had he done so. (Total and absolute disappointment.)

  • @totallytommy Hughes lost his magic directoral touch in the late 80s. I think Deutch did an amazing job with this.

  • Aways loved this movie and the music...AWESOME

  • Great Music.

Masterson as a drummer was cool

  • Awesome song!

    RIP John Hughes.

  • I loved this opening of this film. It's one my all time favorites from John Hughes. R.I.P.

  • One of the many reasons John Hughes is beloved by my generation because he had absolutely the best taste in music, bar none. This was when alternative truly meant alternative, songs that were not played on any mainstream radio stations in the U.S. The Cabaret Voltaire poster in Ferris Beuller's room is what got me. I had totally forgotten about this opening song. Killer.

  • What a producer....R.I.P John Hughes

  • This was a powerfull tune to me in 1984. Still is.....

  • the stoltz eye makeup just kills me.

  • i totally agree!

  • the song is from their album Wishful thinking and its called Abuse.

Essentially its an instrumental version of Dr Mabuse from their album A Secret Wish with an alternative beginning.

  • Thank you very much for the info. You just put out a 20 year mystery for me, thanks again

  • thanks for posting, best opening scene to a movie ever!

  • my no. 1 movie from the 80's..a great one..simple but so much to talk about..

  • i saw the film about 1990 and loved it ,i was rearly into teen flicks in those days, the opening song is cool, reminds me of first time i heard it,about 1985 out shopping with the parents n tescos ,it was was blaring out from the hifi dept, great stuff always wondered what the song was called and who performed it.thank god for you tube.

  • I Agree with thuggin83!!!!

  • @Fleddermause Me 2!

  • Im not going to lie this was a great movie yes leah thompson is rich and good looking but come on that tomboy chick can play Propaganda songs on drums and was very tough!!! One of tha best movies from tha 80's and shouldnt be RE-MADE Hollywood!!! so leave this one alone!

  • Agreed!!

  • It's Propaganda all right, but it's called Dr Mabuse. There's a great live clip (at Wembley) on YouTube if you like this.

  • The Songs name is Abuse by Propaganda

  • the 80s were simply the best! The music was just so out there-

  • The tune to this song is so catchy. I cant help but to tap my foot or rock back and forth or something! =P

  • exactly! - a lot of 80's teen movies had bad music but this just had the beat - and the damned great "tomboy"....he - tomboy yeah right - first movie love here:) - they dont make movies like that anymore...

  • such a good song

  • eric stoltz looked so good in this...

  • to everybody looking for this song it's called :Abuse (aka Dr Mabuse)Performed by Propaganda

It sounds much bettar here than the orginal song does

  • This is the remixed version of "Dr. Mabuse" which is included on Propaganda's album "Wishful Thinking". Track 1 "Abuse". It's the movie version.

  • One of the best movies! I feel like I'm 14 years old again, when I watch this. Keith reminds me so much of my first love. They have that same lion look, basically the same kind of blue eyes, the only difference in looks in that, Igor had blond hair! OOO how I miss him, I rant. thanks for the upload! Eric, and Mary did a wonderful performance!

  • I 2 was very upset that this awesome opening song isnt no where 2 be found-NOT RIGHT 1 OF THE BEST 80'S MOVIES EVER

  • my dad said i can't marry a footballer bcos he does'nt want anyone in the family who's got to wash off dirt after a days job no matter how much he earns T_T

my dad was born small and fragile and sickly he's the only one in the family who was'nt able to play footie he is the academics type

T_T but he plays lots of golf but never became a pro he hates my mommy

  • One of the greatest movies ever made, period. I related to Keith so much when I was in HS. Hey j8dy, you're right about the song on both counts, but this particular cut is Abuse (which is better). Dr Mabuse has the same music but is longer with vocals.

  • My favorite movie and my favorite character. I wanted to play the drums when I was younger.

  • Lov this opening, LOVE this movie!! Mary Stuart Masterson did good on the drums, and Eric, mmm..mm..mmm!

  • she's not playing. If i'm not veary mistaken the sound you hear are electrical drums. NOT like the once you see her play on.I could be wrong.but it do sounds a lot like it

  • I'm sure a professional drummer played the track but she does a good job of performing to the playback. One can see that she's taken the trouble to learn and play the details. That's always nice to see.

  • the only thing realy frustratiing about this song is that is did not appear on the Original Soundtrack, tragic

  • hardcore 80s beat right there

  • If somebody like the 80,enjoy my Playlist, have fun!!

  • Thanks for your message j8d

  • This is such a cool movie

  • I'm so glad I'm not the only person who thinks this is a brilliant scene in this movie. Watched it recently on TV and I'd forgotten how good it was!! cheers m8

  • I was so retarded crazy about this movie when I was in HS. I loved this part of the movie.

  • Great stuff, I remember well, Propaganda from Düssedorf, Best german band ever beside Kraftwerk.

  • Please tell me the name of this song, please!!!

    Thanks!

  • Abuse by Propaganda.

  • Sorry but it's "Doctor Mabuse"

  • I second that correction!

  • I just re-checked the info and you're absolutely right - It's Dr Mabuse!

Thank you for clearing that up!

  • my favourite teen movie! i was shocked when i watched it back then, watts' character was so similar to mine, the drums and everything! mary stuart masterson became my favourite actress just for this part!

  • gist of it

  • This intro scene is my favorite part of the whole movie, haha. Love the drums. Thanks for posting it up!

  • I remember seeing the full movie here posted on YouTube, broken up in like 10 parts.

  • OMg! I'm dying to see this movie!!! Can somebody please upload the whole thing! PLEASE!!!

  • I've always liked this movie, but most especially for the opening song. So cool! Thanks!!

  • One of my favorite openings it's just awesome!
