Yeah I read a couple of issues, but couldn't get into it due to the really bad taste that the series left. I don't know if I hadn't seen the series I probably would have enjoyed the manga quite a lot, but I don't think that I'll ever be able to get back into Gantz again, aside from the Abridged Series of course.

I recommend that you start reading the manga from chapter 90 and onward. That's where the manga and the anime start to move away from each other.

Everything you hated about the anime ending is completely gone. It continues Kurono's adventures in the Gantz room. Kurono actually learns to stop being a total asshole as he takes on the role of leader when he forms the new Gantz team. A lot of unanswered stuff is explained too.

The Dino Arc is also one of the coolest things I've read in any manga.

You did a great job there! Actually making Gantz anime adaptation interesting and fun to watch is a hell of an accomplishment. One thing though. Did you really thought that a nonsensical BSOD/Microsoft joke was good enough to leave it in the script? There is no reason for it to be there. It's not like Gantz's transferring system is made by Microsoft and there is no reason for the BSOD joke either. Again, you do a great job but you got to understand when a joke is not necessary.
