Such a great jam! This is just the end but they played the hell out of Working Man before they got to this solo. The solo sounds very Bonham esque to me. It's awesome to hear Neil's progression through the years
@Delgift If you listen to the whole recording, you'll hear that it's in a studio for some radio show. There is a live audience in the studio though. Maybe it was for local tv? idk. Anyways, it was recorded by the pros, or at least mic'd and mixed by them
heh, I was going to say this sounds almost 'Peter Criss-ish' and someone else writes Carl Palmer-ish and now i'm torn. leaning more towards Criss, i think. either way, nice! thanks tons for posting!
@tmage01 Actually it should make sense that he sounds a bit like Peter Criss because during Rush's earliest tours they played as the opening for KISS.... for the record this doesn't mean i like KISS better than Rush or that I think Peter is a better drummer than Peter, I'm just stating a fact. Rush is always number one in my book.
i know i thought the same thing, although it wasnt recorded by a fan or anything, it was a professional recording, that could explain the great quality
@Viznel137 At the beginning, before they got Neil, they stank. I saw them and there is no comparison. They were loud and shitty and the drummer blew. Enter Neil Peart to drum, write lyrics and collaberate the way rock bands don't do enough with their drummers, and we all know the results. All the truly great rock bands left their drummers alone to compose their own parts as it should be. Right drummers?!! Bonzo, Copeland, Bozzio, Bruford - don't get me started.
All I really know is that it was an entire concert recorded to be broadcast on radio. The concert has since then been passed along as a bootleg and eventually made it's way to the Internet. Just search on google for "the fifth order of angels" for more info plus downloads.

The panning crap has always bugged me on this recording. Back & forth...L/R . Aside from that, the sound itself is great

Actually, the drummer in Working Man was John Rutsey, but he left the band after the release of their first album.

@justentime actually this was recorded after working man

Very Carl Palmer-Esque. He wasn't mixing it up with the kicks like he would later do in the 'Working Man' solo.
