like say you wanted to take a similar trip from one point to another...is it the same exact path or does the software come with several or more different paths you can take to your destination? just to keep it interesting.
You could do it VFR (visual flight rules) if you were under 18000 and fly it by following the interstates or however you want. you wouldnt have to even have a flight plan. You can do IFR routes (instrument routes) at any altitute which could be VORS which is how all big planes flew maybe 25 years ago which is what im doing or high altitute routes(Jways) which is more GPS style within Flight Simulator X software itself. but
if you notice the piece of wood below the center gauges. Thats where the FMC trip planners will go. Once you have those you can get out you flight maps and plan any route you want and you can get sids and stars online which are departure and arrival maps to help you land and depart each aiport. Some pilots also get actual flight routes that real plans fly from the flight aware website and just pick a route they want. Then you can fly online for more options. but yep the options are endless.
Using the FMC trip planners is how all the airplanes do it today you enter the route in there then let the autopilot fly it or you can but the flight is generally all planned down to a T how it will go but its the most realistic way to do it if you wanna do it like the big boys but I just do what I want.
wow there really is a ton of options then...i figured i'd ask cuz i was sitting here watching thinking "what if you get bored cuz you have to take whatever limited routes are available on the software)
i assume the real airlines take routes that save them time, gas and mileage.
i like your setup , what all did it cost to build this.? i wont to setup something like this.

What they need to do is blend this and all the cool video games in to one awesome game so you can land and go do other stuff.
