Someone said the bullet wouldn't have come straight back like that. The bullet didn't come straight back. It ricochet back went several feet, probably like 100, up into the air then bounce off the ground. Most of the energy was already gone when it hit him or his ear protection. I would think you might realize this could happen when shooting at something made of iron. Sounded like he said it was iron anyway.

HOLY CRAP!!! this happened to me...well sorta....i was shooting my BB gun and i used a lead pellet.....the pellet ricocheot off my target and came by next to me by a few feet....it was spinning extremely fast and caused the same noise in the video....wow O_O

It was a ricochet of like a rock or the iron??? he shot. If it was the actual bullet when it his ear muffs it would have busted them in half, or split the guys head. You can see something bounce off the ground like 10ft in front of the guy on the way back, so he probably got peppered by some gravel or a ricochet of a ricochet.

Even at the local indoor range which has a back stop designed to absorb, deflect and/or shatter rounds I still get the occasional ricochet hit me in the leg or smack me in the cheek even. It's kind of freaky. Wear that eye protection people! I'm not sure if this guy did anything specifically wrong but either way he got lucky and luck is good to have from time to time.
