Is that motor a brushed motor?

Ever put that controller into something like a bike and run it?

@paytontech it was only an initial test with just one transistor and no current limiting. I've done a proper PCB and a larger test power section and just missing the current limiting code before a more proper motor drive test. it is ultimately intended to be a full fledged design for cars.
