  • What is the difference are they the same product? I have Corel PaintShop Photo Pro X3 box version purchased last year and you sent me an e-mail this year saying upgrade to Corel PaintShop Pro X4. I noticed it is missing the ( Photo ) bit from its name it looks the same product. I purchased it from your website anyway and now I seem to have two rather than a overwriting with a upgrade. I'm confused about the name.

  • @PigsyCyberBully Hi! We intentionally avoid overwriting the previous version of PaintShop when you install a new version. You can choose to have both X3 and X4 installed at the same time or you can uninstall X3 and stick with X4. X4 is completely compatible with your older PaintShop files.

  • does this have a RAW processor...I wanna compare it to LR4...

  • @CRANKYONE100 idiot - i shoulda watched the whole thing first...going to download the demo and give it a try...

  • @CRANKYONE100 PaintShop does support RAW processing and adjustments, but is primarily an image editing program. You may want to download a trial of AfterShot Pro which we just launched this year and is a photo workflow application more along the lines of Lightroom or Aperture. Free 30 day trials are available from corel.com

  • Just got PSP X4 yesterday on sale for $39.99. What a "GREAT DEAL"! Thanks allot Corel! The new features are awesome. Adding the option to change workspace colors was a very good idea. The default dark was a strain on the eyes. Please add the abilty to lock the top toolbars. If you are not careful when dragging slider settings, you can undock your top toolbars accidentally. Also make the Recent Materials window default to open over the right dock space, not center screen as it is now. Thanks

  • @JDHeavysteel Thanks for the feedback! We'll forward your suggestions to the team.

  • @CorelPaintShopPro Thanks again. One more issue that is very annoying. The layers that are continually auto created. When I add text or simply adding an effect the program randomly creates new layers. I have to continually merge or delete layers that were not intended. I am a huge fan of working with the layers tools available, but there appears to be some rather non consistant glitch going on. Also if you attempt to move a layer, sometimes another layer is created.

  • @JDHeavysteel Using any vector based tools, like text, pen or preset shapes, will add new vector layers automatically. It's curious that you're getting unwanted layers being added when applying effects or moving layers. Would you be willing to help us investigate? If so, please email us at social.media@corel.com and mention "PaintShop Pro layers problem - YouTube" so we can flag it appropriately. Thanks!!

  • Better than Photoshop CS5????

  • @mariokart468 Try it for yourself! Go to your local Corel website and download a free full 30 days trial

  • @mariokart468 never.

  • So when will you have some other options for workspace colors. I HATE THE BLACK I can't see anything. Very hard on the eyes. I would think graphic design software would realize people want options with their software.

  • @retiredinnkeeper We're just finishing up some new workspace options based on the feedback we've been getting. We'll be giving a sneak peak of it very shortly. Stay tuned for more!

  • you cant now have pallets in closed state ready to mouse over it and open it fully. I loved that feature. Now you have all panels either floating and fully open or docked. :-/ that mouse over open was a big place saver.

  • Wow.(0o0) i'm not sure if everyone knows the term 'fandub' but i am a professional (sort of XD) at it and need this sort of technokogy for certain parts. I love this and can't wait to buy it!

  • ..It seems Facebook uploading in X4 is not working under Windows 7 64bit. The popup internet explorer window opens, I sign in and once I allow Corel Paintshop to interact with Facebook the explorer window turns white with the word "success" in the upper left hand corner. That's it and every time I try to upload that's all you ever see.

  • @jeffreygxd Sorry to hear you're having problems uploading to Facebook. We've had a couple of similar reports come through recently from other FB users and have a fix in the works for you. Stayed tuned - we'll let you know as soon as it's ready.

  • dislike cople things they have change...

  • Make it compatible with Color Efex Pro 4 please.

  • ...please lower the price for an upgrade!!!...

  • I have X3 now and like it...X4 looks freaking amazing!! I was going to get photoshop suites and lightroom but after seeing this video, I will upgrade my X3 version to X4!!:D

  • Like the look of the UI. Although I was initially disappointed with the first Corel release of PSP, they do seem to be getting better and better. Played around with Photoshop over the years, but prefer PSP. It beats the crap out of Elements and is a fraction of the cost , much more usable and almost as feature rich compared to CSx.

  • I agree with "bitkarek" - no real changes since Corel took over PS from Jasc. Looks like X4 may be better in that it has decreased it's memory size but it is too late with real upgrades. I'm moving to Photoshop Elements 10.

  • @nacjr65 but price wise, I'd rather pay 90$ for this than $300+ for elements 10. I'm not sure how much elements is but I'm guessing it's over triple the price of X4.

  • @SunfireGTX25 Actually Adobe Photoshop Elements 10 is $89 a lot of places I looked and VERY WELL worth it I must say.

  • @jeffreygxd cool! I still prefer Photo Pro x4's UI over Elements. I have elements 7.0 and I don't like it.

  • PSP could be a competetion for Photoshop, but since corel bought it, it just survives but has no evolution, all is just for an eye. Just to have anything new there to make new version. Wake up Corel!!! you are killing PSP all those years. I would like to be project leader of PSP and change all I dislike! but thats just a dream. Best was version X made by JASC, then it started to go downhill. X4 is an update, not a new ver in real.

  • As a long-time user of PhotoImpact, I'm somewhat disappointed that PSP will _still_ not read and/or convert UFO files. Since PhotoImpact is being phased out by Corel, and as I have hundreds of UFO files containing layers that I may want to change in the future, it's the least I would expect of a company like Corel. If I was phasing out a program, I would at least have the class to upgrade to the supported program. It's kind of sad, really.

  • @mweisger42 We hear you. Even though PaintShop Pro and PhotoImpact are both image editing products, they were initially developed by two different companies, so making their file formats completely interchangeable is a challenge. But for the first time, PaintShop Pro X4 has included the ability to open .UFO files. The layer conversion for complex UFO files not perfect yet, but we're working on it. You can download the trial version of X4 and test it out on your own files.

  • Wow... it's not exactly an appropriate name for it. It could be PhotoShop because it's main functions - as I see - editing photos. Photoshop is a drawing-painting software so it would be better if its name is PaintShop. I accustomed Photoshop but this PaintShop is really good for $99 (or approximately this price).

If anything is wrong sorry for my english but yet only those words in this comment wich I don't know (so searched on Google Translator).

  • Was hoping it would have Animation in it since Corel has not every updated Animation shop or came up with something better, looks like Photo shop is the only ones listening to the crys of many PSP world.

Guess it's time to give up on Corel & go with Photo Shop.

  • Going to purchase this soon, great product ;-)

  • Thanks so much for our message and great that you love using PSP. Hope you enjoy the latest version as much as we have been! We'd love to see what you've been working on so feel free to join PaintShopPro on Facebook and share your work

  • I have used Paint Shop Pro and upgraded numerous times throughout the years- since version 3.1 (I think- boy, that was a long time ago!). I am a huge fan of this program and have always been 100% satisfied. The program is easy to learn, user friendly and quite honestly, preferable for me over Adobe. I am downloading PSPx4 right now and can't hardly wait to start using it!
