There are many Polar Bear sightings on the ice near the outskirts of Barrow. Many visitors do get the chance to view Polar Bears in their natural habitat. I however was not one of them. However in any event I planned to go no further than the road, a good distance from the Bears, and close to my vehicle for a fast getaway.
Well, I don't know whether I should be happy or sad it was the only one :) Live polar bears in free nature tend to be the last thing you ever see, you know.
