Yo you don't need to create a midi track first to do a midi learn. Also if its the default Instrument input you never have to select it in the input midi list. Just drag it and you're done.

Hey there.

The Axiom 25 Midi Controller is simply that, just a midi controller. I think you may be confusing audio interface with midi controller.

This video simply addresses how to link a midi controller.

From what I have seen, if you have a presonus audio interface, it simply detects it. Although the knobs on the interface are not for controlling any sort of midi, they will control the levels of the instruments/mics in.
