#282 - Q&A: Will the 5870 Video Card fit in mid-tower cases?

I bought a case that says will hold up to 11inch of video card... I already bookmarked a card that fits it... but I changed my mind and decided to get this better card which is 11.7" will it fit my case?

i have a small case, but its at least 20 inch long and 5 inch wide and 15 inch high so i can easily fit it in guess

@pikathomas It doesn't go by that. It goes by the inside of it. From the back PCI plates at the back to the hard drive cage. Most mid tower cases will barely get 11 inches!

My ATI Sapphire HD 5870 fits inside my Cooler Master Elite RC-332 KKN1-GP perfectly :D And by the way : MSI is gonna reduce the lenght of the PCB for the MSI Radeon HD 5870 Lightning Edition.

yes, just like the gtx28/9/5 but what if the power connectors would end by the hard drive cages? I think you can remove the drive cages out and screw the faceplates back on. I only miss the dust filters. Are there any for sale for the nine hundred?case?

it only JUST go inside the cage , so dont worry about it , the power connectors go no wear close to the fans =] , yeh u can just buy a normal 120mm dust filter

@Recoil121 depends on your mobo composition, if it allows you to use the very top pci slot, then yes, because the card will slip into one of the cd drive bays, otherwise you will have to cut off some of the hard drive slots to make room, i fucked up and got the radeon hd 5870 and the storm scout without doing my research, actually i didnt fuck up, it's still a great case, even missing some of its hard drive slots

Get our your hack saws your cases are not good enough. XD In one case I can fit a 12.5in card and in the other (rust bucket from the 90s) it can fit a 15in card. I like my thermal take xaser v. So how fast could one assume a 5850 is because if I am able to land a soon I'll will be picking up one instead of another 8800gtx and a better psu.

Rodney, you get the stupidest people asking questions. Will it fit in a mid-tower case when there's hundreds on the market all with different sizes. Google search the dimensions of the card and get a ruler and measure your case. These kids need to learn how to actually find the answer.

I own the mid-tower case and 4870 and i had problems with fitting them in. Also, my PSU is located in front bottom. I currently have about 1-2mm between my PSU fan protector and the card itself.
