TATA owns jaguar and landrover before they made this car. they have the technology/design information on how to make it safe. Where as chinese car makers started from scratch borrowing material from everywhere. Tata nano began way back in 2003,also previous Tata cars to make it to the European car markets passed to crash test.In case of China, China never gave importance to crash test as customers of domestic Chinese market never considered crash tests important,only after entering the international market Chinese automakers realized the importance of crash tests,Anyway the newer versions of Chinese export cars are doing better i.e driver cabin remains safe.

You will see that it gets a Euro NCAP four star rating (and this is the Indian spec nano). That is really good for a small car. In europe it would cost around 5,000 euros. With airbags, Abs and more. I wouldn't release this car in the US. You people are used to big cars and Tata would just get a bad name just because the car is small.

The smallness wouldn't matter if it could be sold for way less than what we normally pay. Also, the impossibly short Smart ForTwo is selling like hotcakes here in San Francisco specifically because it's small, and can fit in places where you could not park a bigger car.

You mean 10,000, right? 'Cause there's no way they could sell this thing anywhere for 1000. Several months ago, when gas was threatening to go up to $5 per gallon, people were actually interested in the awful, three-wheeled, Chinese-made Wildfire, which sells in the US for about $7000 to $8000. If people will pay that much for that heap of junk, we'll definitely pay $10,000 for the much better Tata Nano.

Yeah but the Tata Nano's main target is the price. They want to keep the price down. There has been reports that the Nano Europa will cost around 5,000. If it is more you can go for a better car (Tata) which will cost around 8-9,000 euros the Indica Vista. So the Nano can't surpass the 5,000 euro mark

hahahaha......u dont need to research for a thing like this. yes i agree tht its small and good for traffic drives.tht dosent mean that i ts a good car. old ppl cant sit in it for a long time(not enough room), young ppl dont want to drive it as its got very less power and the top speed is 90kmph. so ppl who dont have anyother option have to drive this...so tht means its a car which has no meaning for its birth. this piece of shit causes lot of problem relating to traffic in the comin days.
