i just want to say very cherry truck .. i built 12.2 monte carlo ls dont have that much in to it but i had to do everything on budget but safe.. i have 400 sbc in it
This is the nicest, and most complete rebuild/ conversion i have seen. Very nice work man, i cannot begin to tell you how bad i want to see this completed. Keep it up man, great truck.
very nice... i hope ur happy with it i just got my first car... i got a 1992 s10 with a 355 small block... little much for only bein 15 and my first car... i gunna do work to it but prolly never sumthing serious like u did... im prolly gunna do a good runnin cruiser but ill still bust alot of ass lol cant waint to start drivin me and the father r gunna do alot together hes got a 1973 stingray cant wait to have my truck the way i wont it. agin very nice truck
THANK GOD you got rid of that stupid effin spoiler when you made it a truly fast truck. I really dig it man, Ive always wanted a V8 S10 as a daily driver or something. I run a 69 Chev C10 shortbox stepside now with a 450hp 479 ft lbs 383 stroker and its a good time. What does an S10 weigh anyways? my C10 is 3980 with me in the driver seat so roughly 3800. curious how much lighter one of these are.
how easy does a bigger v8 fit in the s10 and the blazers...i would like to put a 350 vortec from a mid 90's pickup in my blazer but i cant find anyone who has done it to tell me what i would need to do.
@MagicalMrSkylar big block is way better basic build on the motor will make over 500 hp..my s10 has a 468 that makes 560 hp on 92 octane drive on the street all the time. my truck with the big block ways 3000 pounds all steel no plastic.
@MagicalMrSkylar with my lightened crank, aluminum components, aluminum heads and so on...the weight is closing in on the weight of a stock iron headed 350....the 100 or so lbs of extra weight is well worth the power and torque available from 150 more cubic inches. 550lb ft of torque at 3000 rpm is rediculious, then it holds over 600ft lb until after 5800 where it creates 725hp at 6700. Not in yet, still have some building. Its hard to come up with the money to work on it as a college student.
I have a question if you dont mind answering i have a 305 in my truck and i had it rebuilt and put a lunati cam with a 268 duration and 489 lift with other mild performance parts and i was wanting to go with a bigger cam but my friend said it could cause me to lose horsepower is that true
I need to know the intake manifold type, vehicle weight, carburetor, exhaust type, basically anything you can tell me...then i will have a better idea as to what you should have for a cam
I have a Edelbrock perfomance intake and carburetor blackjack headers 2 1/4 inch aluminum pipe with flowmaster with turn down and a mild cam lunati cam 268 duration with 489 lift and lifters would it hurt if i went with a bigger cam
im building an 1984 s10 drag truck. 454 bored .060, big cam, weiiand intake and dual demon 4bbls. i need to know where u got the narrowed rear frame rails and how much. i need some, because im not prepared to custom one up myself.
S&W racing...about 1250 for the frame...about 650 for the housing....400 for the axles..700 brakes, 1300 center section, 2000 wheels and tires and labor
Thats a nice truck you have there, I am also from Maine. I live in Gardiner. Im also building a V8 S10. 1st gen '86 shortbed. All fiberglass fenders, bumper, roll pan, 5" cowl hood, custom aluminum core support, 1 7/8" husler fenderwell headers,,, building a nasty 700HP 434ci sbc.. ALL FORGED, 15.3:1 comp , Ported ph.6 Alum. bowtie heads, w 2.10" - 1.65" titanium valves, Solid roller .700" lift cam, 1050 carb, complete msd, 5500rpm stall, posi 4.88's, 28x12 slicks should be done soon
I am working on an 87 as we speak, it was the s10 sport, extended cab...I'm just putting in a 350 out of a Z28 for a guy in NH. I took the bed off and totally redone everything...it should come out pretty nice. It is on a budget but all the makings of a nice daily driver is there. It is really tight on the passenger floor board for header clearance I have realized. I wish i had some fenderwell exit headers- but the $150 heddman's are more budget friendly to the guy. Keep me posted...make a video
The big block fits on standard small block chevy mounts...however it was something like 1.5 inches wider and about 1.5-2 inches longer (just at the head surfaces) the firewall is being pushed back about 3 inches for weight distribution and header/ basepan clearance. Thank you
ur not alone going over 383. me and my dad are thinking about restoring and building his 89 s-10 into a drag truck. but we are gonna put a 406 small block in it. 581 hp
i have a 400SBC beside my house in the elcamino im thinkin about. I kinda like the idea of having a 700horse (after i convert it back to gas) motor in a s10 though...she would be STUPID fast
Now your talkin.... I like the sounds of that too. I guess I am going to step it back on the valve lift due to stress on valvetrain- from .714/.714 254/268 @ 110 to something around 680's with about 5-10 degrees more duration
Yeah, my cousin has a 383 s10...woulda been lame to copy him. I thought about building a 434 small block but ended up with a 4 bolt main 89 chevrolet 454 block in my hands...then it was all history from there.
Id hate to say....because people on here can be stupid when numbers come out. I can tell you the frame kit is 1200, the rearend with brakes is about $3000 the wheels and tires were about 2000 and it took quite a few hours work on the back half...also cosmetically i had a lot in that too...PM me for specifics...
back again man i had to watch this shit a 2nd time man. it pumps me up i cant wait to be where your at. SOON. ps hurry up and put that block in there man so we can se it hit the track CHEVY FOr LIFE
I my bro-in-law want's to do something like this with his straight side, except he want's to use a 350. My best friend has an 83 that he wants to drop a 400 Small into and probably go Fuel injection. Me... I'm one of the unlucky few that owns a Ford... So mine is getting a 4bt Cummins, or possibly if I fell up to it in a few years a 5.9 Cummins. I prefer diesel... Very nice truck btw. I'll have to show this to my bro-in-law later.
