Shoot I Remember telling Joe, I'd see him play the Fabulous Forum (That was the forum The Lakers played at. and many top bands ) Back when he was 16. (I would always stop and talk when I rode my bike past his house, He always had his guitar) I just knew it. He always was finding flaws in his playing and trying to correct them. Just something in the math of the guy. Later I DID see him play with Ozzy and he saw me and pointed back. haha . He was a cool guy to grow up with, I wish him the best.
It's nice to hear Crazy Train without "da da da da da da squeal, da da da da da da squeal!" Sorry but Zakk really screwed up Crazy Train worse than any other Randy song.
@vaibanez17 Indeed, and he even took lessons from Randy. (Though when he played Iron Man with Ozzy, it always had a squeal on the last note of the riff every time he played it, which got annoying, but still less squeals than Zakk)
@HalalKafir ..my boy Brian from our hometown Boonton NJ...I can't believe has done so well..actually I can..he always was so talented.Went to high school with me...very cool dude.
@peteelliedaisy Joe is very underrated but Tichy is a monster indeed. He just organized a Tribute to John Bonham in L.A. last week, 'The Groove Remains The Same' - check him out on 'The Immigrant Song' watch?v=gf1VPEqWRV8 . Btw, Brian is also a kick ass guitar player and an even better singer - he's got some audio clips of his band Ball on his website. Great stuff!
roberts is so talented cant he tell his tone sucks soooo bad?? its always muddy ! and joes guitar is out of tune during this whole song ! srat is the wrong giutar for this
is that brian tichy on drums? he's very underrated in my opinion,has played with billy idol,foreigner and now with whitesnake keep beating the skins bro...
@Livenlaff Zakk recorded Ozzmosis. The right before the tour Zakk got an offer to be in GnR. He talked it over with Ozzy because he couldn't make up his mind. So Ozzy made it up for him and told him to try the GnR thing. Zakk played (or rehearsed) with GnR for a while and decided it wasn't for him. Joe Holmes was already with Ozzy on tour. So Zakk started Pride & Glory. When that fell apart he did his solo record, Book of Shadows. Around '98 he started auditioning players for BLS.
@Livenlaff Because Zakk was not decided about entering Guns'n'roses or going in this tour with Ozzy..... So he waited and at last nobody took Zakk : Guns'n'roses nor Ozzy !
Did Joe record on Ozzmosis or was that Zakk and Joe just did the tour?? I love Joes playing a lot. I like Jake lee the best of all of them, but Ozz has had some amazing guitarists that is for sure.
Joe actually helped write or wrote a few songs for Ozzy. Not sure what album though. Joe is a very talented guitarist and Ozzy definitely has had some greats in his lineup
@hirschy93 Actually Zakk was with Ozzy for Ozzmosis. Ozzy didn't put out another studio album till Down to Earth in '01. He attempted writing with Joe Holmes, but the chemistry wasn't there (according to Ozzy). So Joe was let go and most of the writing was done by Ozzy and producers before Zakk was called back in. That's why that album isn't as cohesive. Zakk was more or less a hired gun for that album. Black Rain is a much better alum in my opinion.
@4JayeP u must be the dumbest little fuck. i bet u only know like zakk wylde and randy rhoads and nothing else. this was a great line-up and joe holmes is such a beast
Ozzy's band are:
Joe Holmes: guitars;
Deen Castronovo: drums;
Robert Trujillo: bass.

The Strat was not made for these types of songs. I know; I have three of them! Although I do like his '73.

@peteelliedaisy The drummer is Brian Tichy who is now with Whitesnake and played with Zakk in Pride & Glory. One of the baddest cats in the biz.

@hirschy93 lol. None of us know ANYTHING for a fact because we weren't there. lol. But I DO believe Joe is credited on a couple songs on that album.

Joe maybe the most obscure of all of Ozzy's guitar
players, Jake E. Lee at least had "Bark at the moon",
but nevertheless, he rips, thanks for putting this
video up hirschy93, i love hearing different
variations of "crazy Train" and this one kicks ass.

I like how Joe Holmes was supposedly the next Randy and he never even did an album with Ozzy. What a bad guitar for this kind of music.
scarymike51 2 years ago
he wrote three songs with ozzy. and the bad guitar part, that doesn't really matter. he's switched the pickups so it has a metal tone.
hirschy93 2 years ago
Of all the Ozzy line-ups this is the weakest.
