@ECMLexpress I see what you mean, they are lovely pieces of work, and I always feel a lot more comfortable on board a 91 set. Their looks are slightly more modern although still rather dated. Much better than any of the boring new stuff we're getting!
Its looks seem to have dated very fast. They just remind me of the late "Thatcher" era.. I dont know why?
I think they will be around for a a few more Years.
Will I miss them when they do go??? No....Why They were not groundbraking.. OK so they have a top speed of 140 MPH (225KM/H) But the Class 43 (Which it was supposed to replace had a top speed of approx. the same) Plus can you use these on non-electric lines...No
@matsui2001 I see where you're coming from - there isn't anything that really shines out in the Class 91, just a worse sounding, not as pretty, electric version of the Class 43. Had these trains been able to operate at their design speed of 140mph, then it might be a different story.
@RailsimProductions But 1 thing I can say. I suspect these will be the last ever loco,s that will ever be made... Now all we get are DMU,s and EMU,s
It will be very interesting to see what happens when these Class 91,s do retire from service, Even though they are now 20 Years old I suspect they will be around for a good few Years yet. As you so rightly said.. There is nothing that shines out on the Class 91. I do wish the APT-E had been a sucsess story. That was so advanced it was unreal.
91s are better than HSTs, much better, and in my opinion, they are a lot prettier than the HSTs! Even though the HSts are great also.

Is it just me or does this 91 sound a slightly bit broken when it starts?

@RailsimProductions That's how they always start.
