Overall i think they both look awsome.Crysis got more beautiful graphics than BF3, but not so realistic like BF3. BF3 has more realistic graphics such as the sun and texture and off course the destruction

I totally agree on almost everything. BF3's lightning is more life-like. Whenever I saw the lightning in Crysis, it looks beautiful but...there is an aspect that doesn't make it REAL. The lightning in the Frostbite 2 is so neat and beautiful. I agree on the water thingy too. One thing about BF3's destruction is that it is a bit exaggerated. You can break things with irrelevant methods sometimes. But I do understand its a game and all so it cant get perfect.

BF3 has the most annoying 'lighting' in the world. Seriously, lens flare doesnt even look like that, its just over the top and exaggerated. and 'sun ray' effects? Its just an image pasted on top of the sun. Crysis 2 uses volumetric lighting, which actually simulates sun rays. Destruction in Frostbite 2 is almost a step down from BC2, and is mostly scripted.

Of course it is scripted. All of it is scripted. From the instancing to the Caspian tower collapsing. The stress that would be put on servers trying to update all these different objects being blown to random pieces, retracing their path and movement, calculating the physics and applying them for all players in a server would be unbelievable. There has to be conformity. Otherwise there will be no multiplayer for this game at all.

@HaloModder555 Yeah very true. However, people use destruction in Battlefield 3 as one of the main reasons why Frostbite 2 is more powerful than say Cryengine 3. The argument is 'Destruction requires more processing power than good visuals'. This is true, if the destruction in BF3 were purely physics based, but as you said, it is not. Both are great games by the way.

@killergram33 well that's retarded ya know just because crytek didn't added destruction in the game doesn't means fb2>ce3.Well crytek's destruction can be seen in ce2 which revolutionized the gaming world.However I don't support crytek since they went being greedy assholes and giving a console port but that's another case but that doesn't means fb2>ce3..

@haad999 Oh definitely not, i think CE3 is way superior to FB2, in terms of dynamic destruction as well. You have to remember, Crytek runs a business. Crysis 1 was pirated so much on pc, so its a no-brainer why they decided to expand their market to consoles.

@killergram33 It wasn't pirated as much as people think, they just made a huge deal about it. They were already planning on doing console stuff beforehand, that was kinda the extra push they needed to go multiplat.

Ironically after they said that Crysis went on to be one of the top selling games and sold 3 million copies (and the expansion 1.5 mil), and Crysis 2 is yet to catch up.

I agree with Battlefield 3 having better destruction but Crysis 2 with DX11 & The official HD texture pack wins in textures, water, shadows, tessellation, bokeh depth of field and particle motion blur. I was a bit pissed off with BF3's lack of tessellation

Lighting is debatable because they are very similar, alot of people think BF3 has better lighting because of that 'glare' filter.

Both games are awsome looking on PC, I play alot more BF3 than Crysis 2 online.

Everything explained about the "lighting" in this video has nothing to do with lighting at all they are just visual effects explained. In Terms of actual dynamic lighting of environments, Crysis 2 is 100% real-time and thus a better technology. BUT bf3 does look better in that respect as the light visuals look better.

@adinblackhawk45 Crysis 2 graphics succeed in the water department, but BF3 wins in Textues, Lighting and destruction because

1. much more 'visible' textures (meaning you can see it more clearly, the pixels are smaller

2. lighting is better, (Realistic sun rays and better object lighting)

3. Destruction is better because you basically can blow up anything

but im not saying crysis 2 has crap graphics. Frostbite 2 is just a bit updated in the graphics department. Eg: Destruction

I disagree fact that lighting is better in BF3 than in C2 .

I played both games on high res (1920x) and I must admit that Crysis 2 rules with water,lighting and actual gameplay.

BF3 has better destruction (although in Crysis 2 you can destroy many things,and bullet prints in walls or objects are much better shown.)

Visible textures are the kinda same(small advantage for BF3,because CryEngine 3 had to reduce textures because of strenght/complexity of CryEngine 2.

@narutofroever Just because KZ3 looks good in the trailer doesn't mean its going to actually look like that. It's very easy to run pre-rendered gameplay on a ps3... and sony has been known to do so in the past. I like how people assume that a trailer is actual gameplay. A lot of times it's pre-rendered on a pc (since pcs are used to make console games). every game ive played that's been a sony exclusive has sucked (except for God of war 3)

@narutofroever yet i played the beta and it looked no different than uncharted 2. when are you people going to figure out that a console with 512mb of ram, a 256mb graphics card, and a shitty processor just can't run the things you expect them to. when the xbox 720 and ps4 come out, then it'll be able to run trailer footage.
