I haven't read the book, but this video by itself didn't seem too bad. I don't agree with the first 30 seconds or so, but after "audacity of being a good man" it starts to make a little more sense.

"The audacity of being a good man?" I think skateboarding could for sure teach this better to youth, but it doesn't do too bad of a job either. Is it the job of wakeboard companies, or guitar/drum companies to teach youth how to behave too? Skateboarders are diverse, and who they are is shaped by much more than some company or magazine.

Many sk8ers share their values in their interviews, and that is great 4 kids, I think. But no skateboarder represent ALL of them. I don't, neither do u.

The industry is several messages. Look at the difference between life styles that Bob Burnquist and Dustin Dollin portray. Polar opposites, b/c they are different people.

What the whole industry does portray is freedom, b/c that is what sk8ing is. Being a Rebel is American, not skateboard specific. And being a Rebel means self-governing and free. I don't hate cops, most my sk8 friends don't either.

This book talks about how all skateboarders are druggies and immoral and bashes everything from the industry to the skaters, he never made it in the industry and they never accepted his stupid company so now he is getting his revenge. what a fag he is

God! Yes! Finally someone that understands that skateboarding just has to go to becoming a sport with rules and diciplin and special days in the week were you go practice with your skatecoach. There should absolutely be a major legue for skateboarding where professionalls compete and earn points to put in score table. This is were he want's skateboarding to go. Were skateboarding isn't a unique sport anymore, just another one in the bunch. And that is just taking away everything fun about it.
