There is time and care put into making it and care in selecting the woods used.Epiphones are a Korean guitar that will only depreciate in value and deteriorate with age. Made from average stock woods and crafted in bulk by Asians who could case less the quality of the finished product. Thats why the send them back to the states to be assembled. Epihones are ok but to compare them with a Gibson is horse shit!!

@gothyke Personally I play with Ernie Ball Coated, actually its the same kind Slash indorses if i remember correctly. Great for life, sound, durability, and amazing for those with a Kahler or Fender Tremlo design, because the ball ends are enforced to be stronger, I use a Kahler on my custom guitar and I have never broken a string since i switched to the Coated Balls.

@danecook321 The pickups are different, the headstock too but that's not all, the woods are better, the finish is better, the wire, the playability = better neck, better frets with binding, the tuners are also more stable, the Gibson reacts in such a way that an epiphone doesn't, it's a different feeling, and you can get more sustain on the Gibson. When you buy a Gibson, it's for life, because they are durable instruments that age well.

i have the epiphone slash and its great but gibson has a deeper sound
