  • He bitch slapped that cymbal at the very end of the video. :D

  • nice. fucking intro. O_O

  • He was in Idar-Oberstein /watch?v=Zc4X412sqZA

  • This video was watched from Lars Ulrich 5 times :D

  • @mars3005 haha that litteraly made me laugh man. props!

  • for those who BITCH about blasts and such, check out his performance on PATTERN OF FEAR ...then we can talk again if all he can do is blast!

  • I used to be atheist before I saw Kollias

  • 1:25 Holy shit thats a fast fill

  • Sick man. And I feel ya on the description this song has some weird "come arounds" to the riffs especially right before the last "chorus" lol but ya you're one of my favorite drummers keep posting shit!

  • he is so under rated and obviously he is one of the best out there... he amazes me in all of his videos....he should be known a lot more then he is....

  • 1:25: FUUUUUUCCCKKKKK

FUCK ME. I might as well quit drumming.

  • @Danger555 thats what made u quit???? that wasnt that terrible...the other stuff is what made me switch to ballet!

  • He kinda looks like randy blythe

  • Anyone know what specific china he's hitting with the right hand starting at 1:15 or so? I'm thinking the AAX X-Treme 17"?

  • I like the bit where he plays fast...

  • he is the fuckn best!!!!!!

  • flo mounier is not best than george ¬¬

  • drummer awards are for mainstream shits, that`s why george never wins. god fucking damn it ! how is this possible ?!

  • @DarkAddagio lol hes not anything like kollias

  • OMG OMG did i see him put a face in that makes him look like he puts in effort to play this? he plays insane stuff and it looks like he puts no effort in :D

  • @DarkAddagio

bothe have a great technique, but kollias is faster :))

  • Im not a drummer myself (im a guitarist) but I can see that this takes a lifetime of pure 24h a day practise to become...... George Kollias is a fucking machine... He can't possibly be human.... This is beyond what humans can do..

  • @DarkAddagio, Flo is very good & Cryptopsy isn't easy to play, but George has him beat in overall technicality.

  • god I wish I could invite him & his drumkit into the house I'm living in. Everyone's so sound-sensitive. I'd probably never have any problems with knocking neighbours again, 'cos they won't hear shit after something like this! :D

  • Yes¡ You Are a Fucking Maniac ¡¡

  • is he doing his blasts without flying fingers, or is he using gravity blasts?

  • @matthewtop still looks like flying finger but his fingers are all tucked in same technique just the way he does it i guess

  • @matthewtop I think he plays almost entirely with his wrists. I copied his hand technique, and although I can't go as fast for as long, using the wrists in that way gives you a hella lot of power and precision. It's a bit hard to describe, but it's almost a twisting motion in the wrist. Try holding a stick and just turn your hand 90 degrees around the axis that is the arm. That's at least how I first started off, when you've used it for a while it will change, but start slowly and gently.

  • @JonasOfSweden Holy shit, I didn't notice it but you're right, he really does play almost exclusively with his wrists. To go that fast I usually have to use my fingers a little bit. Jesus Christ lol.

  • @JonasOfSweden, looks more like push-pull, alternating between the wrist and finger muscle groups.

  • @DarkAddagio George Kollias is the best in mine :)

    Flo's extremely good though

Would give George a run for his money, like Inferno, Hellhammer, Derek Roddy etc

  • Unreal man

  • @DarkAddagio I just looked up that guy too, HOLY SHIT! That dude's fucking crazy man. Thanks for sharing!

  • You're awesome George.

  • I love he still plays those Blasts with mainly his wrists, makes it so much more Brutal. Im not dissing/bashing guys who Blast with their Fingers, because I'd kill to get at that Tempo ANYHOW. Still, Playing that with wrists makes it so damn brutal and raw. I just love that. Greetings.

  • Probably one of the fastest Nile songs...

  • george was taught jazz by a greek jazz drumming legend i forgot his name but look him up

  • @frankriley17 yanis stropolaugholis(last name spelt wrong lol)

  • I love that china.

  • it´s just you man

  • @dougmurdoch Nah, lol. That was rhetorical.

  • This song may contain shitloads of blasts, but check out the rehearsal for As he creates, so he destroys.

And to people whining about that he only plays fast, does drumrolls, fast double bass, and blast beats. It's the fucking genre, it wouldn't be called brutal technical death metal if they had jazz tracks on the drums.

  • and if people want to call him all speed just refer them to the one where he is jamming on his new pearl masters kit.

Do you really think he just plays metal...

    Does sombody really think that

  • I don't know. But if somebody thinks that, they're obviously retarded.

  • Even The Gods Must Die (Rehearsal drum shot) bit of a slower paced song...but still technical.

  • @pestarmageddon

yes people, this would be an explaination, thumb up!

  • @pestarmageddon He plays jazz! Just not with nile:D

  • @pestarmageddon even if there's jazz on brutal death / technical death, it becomes more brootal, the perfect example: John Longstreth

  • DM is all about blast beats

  • @The420KushKing420 Eh, not all.

  • well i know but seemingly i dont c too many blast beats at all half the song isnt blast beats check out Aeons of burning galexies

  • @The420KushKing420 Blatantly don't know what the hell you're on about.

  • @shanexdrums Well it gives the songs a relentless feel to them. Thing is he doesn't just blast though; he does it at mindblowing speeds.

  • is he useing flying fingers with is snare hand?

  • Absolutely not.

  • 273 was the highest they measured during the recordings....

  • he reached two hundred eighty something on the detest album

  • FUCK, sounds like 270 or 280, ridiculous

  • 271 to be precise :)

  • aporo pos dn bgazeis kapnous re giorgooo!!!!

    eisai mixani re file!!!!!

    oreos!!!!

  • Kollias vs. Roddy

  • it must be such a relief to play the chorus after all that, I`m sure

  • sooooo fast. dammmmit.

  • ahahahaha, this drummer is a like a bulldozer machine!!!!

  • AWESOME!!

  • Crazy drumming skills!

  • Damn great... he is fast, brutal and can blast like a mad motherfucker.. but he also keeps rhythm and effective patterning which is something not too many Death Metal drummers can pull off... George Kollias is my favorite drummer, this video shows you the reason why...

  • glad you shared this vid with me man! fucking kickass

  • papyrus containing the spell to preserve its possessor against attacks from he who is in the water

  • oohh my fucking god!!! this is amazing

i love papyrus containig the spell....

    George kollias it's a God

  • In blasting, this was clocked at 271 actually

  • My god... what tempo is this song in? :P

  • about 250

  • about 250 during the blasting

  • Tem pacto com o diabo... no mínimo :D

  • George Kollias is underrated. I think he might the best METAL drummer of all-time. Notice I said Metal.

  • @NewYorkJets99 u are definaly right, hes the best

  • @nigelic Lol, thanks man.

  • @NewYorkJets99 no prob

  • @NewYorkJets99 hell yea. him and shannon lucas r fuckin beasts

  • @AngryCavemen23 I just looked up that Shannon dude, fucking insane. Thanks.

  • @NewYorkJets99 Gene Hoglan

  • @NewYorkJets99 he's good.. but i think Chris Adler beats him in innovation and style of play.. And in beats xD

i LOVE nile and Lamb of God.. But i think Chris owns this guy xD

  • @MatHan77 Chris Adler is fucking awesome! I saw Lamb of God when they opened for Metallica in NY in November. I think they are great instrumental wise, but after awhile I can't fucking stand the screaming anymore haha. There are many great metal drummers out there, and many people do not realize how hard it is to play metal, they think metal is stupid or whatever. Then I say "METAL UP YOUR ASS!" Lol. Thanks for the comment response! Stay Metal! \m/.

  • @MatHan77 what are u talking about??? kollias plays death metal adler plays heavy metal...so how can u compare them??? did u even listen to papyrus??? kollias inovation in death metal is far from any other ..i listen to alot of death metal bands kollias style is just technical groovy and fast without affecting the music...i havent heard any other who can play like that

  • @marwanxyz123 Heavy Metal? HAHAHAAHHAHAHA!!!!!

I don't think George is uber creative, not as much as lets say Chris. Even tho, they do play a different style, it's not completely from each other.

Listen to JFAC. That is innovation, he is fucking creative and skilled, more than George. I think George is a bit overrated, because he can play fast, but his fields are just... Boring.

Chris is creative, and so is the dude from JFAC.

    Heavy Metal... HAHHAH!

  • @MatHan77 JFAC? are you kidding me you pussy

  • @opiter LOL Fuck no, i personally think he's more skilled :)

  • @MatHan77 You obviously don't know George if you think he is not as creative...

  • @fsxace909 know George? feck no, i don't know him personally, but i'm a dedicated Nile fan.. I mean, he can play fast n shit, but he ain't as creative as Jon from JFAC imo...

    IMO!!!!!!!!

  • @MatHan77 All right yo! Lol chill nig.

  • @marwanxyz123 jajajaja, Heavy metal Adler? jajajajaja most stupid thing i`ve ever read on the youtube

  • @estebanskater123 so what style does adler play ??? lamb of god is a heavy metal with elements of groove in it :)

  • @marwanxyz123 Do yo really believe what you`re saying?

Lamb of Gos is a Metalcore, Deathmetal, with groove elements on it band...

Anyway Adler during his career has played mostly Death Metal

That band is not accepted as heavy metal by the heavy metal fans, personally i think is just ugly metalcore with little progressive parts

And for Adler, he is a really excellent drummer that i believe can play any kind of style, and loves to play mostly Death Metal

  • @NewYorkJets99

I like how you pointed that out, as if to say, "I'm so clever, no one would ever know that I said he's the best of only one genre. I'd better clarify."

  • @Skaflar Is that supposed to be funny or something? I just repeated it to point out that I said Metal, so some idiot looking for a comment fight like you wouldn't say something about my comment. Please, don't start an arguement over something like this thinking you're tough over the YouTube Comment Section.

  • @NewYorkJets99

With a statement like, that, I think you were the looking for a fight.

'Notice how I said metal, everyone.'

That would be like me saying, "Yeah, I think Terrell Owens is underrated. He might the best receiver on the BILLS of all time (when he played for them). Notice how I said the bills?"

  • @Skaflar I still don't understand why that is a big deal to you. I received 46 "Likes" from that comment and counting and everyone seemed to understand it. I'm not proud of that or anything, but I'm just saying everyone else seemed to understand what I meant, so if you didn't, sorry I guess?

  • @NewYorkJets99

I did understand what you meant, but it just seemed ridiculous, and dare I say maybe even insulting that had to point out an enunciation that was clearly visible.

Sorry, I know I'm being a douche bag about this and I do agree with you, he certainly is a contender for the best metal drummer of all time, because you can't really compare metal drummers and, say, rockabilly drummers.

It just seemed asinine and like you were trying to stir the pot. Sorry.

  • @Skaflar It's ok dude, and to be honest I don't really understand fully what you are saying, and I'm not an idiot or anything lol. Plus, my knowledge and opinions on everything drums have changed greatly in eight months. I still think he is great, but I've seen many other drummers since then that may be better.

  • @NewYorkJets99

Lol, well, it's summer and my brain is full of fuck. I've been studying for the past 216 468 107 hours for ACM training for the Swedish Flygvapen. Seems like everything can upset these days.

  • @Skaflar Lol oh ok. No problem.

  • @NewYorkJets99 I agree

  • @NewYorkJets99 there is not best metal drummer. Othervise I would tend to Portnoy. But not because of his technical skills!

  • @netterhaufen Yes, as I said before, that comment is very old. My views and opinions on drums have changed greatly in eight months. I also have noticed that Metal drumming is not very impossible. Most of it is being able to move extremely fast around the kit once you have the techniques down. The thing that probably impresses me the most is the double bass, though. Thanks for the comment! Have a good one. Keep it Metal. \m/.

  • @NewYorkJets99 I don't think he is underrated (for the society of death metal drummers). I think he gets as much attention as he deserves, a shit ton.

  • @NewYorkJets99 Pisses me off with all those knuckleheads who thinks Kollias is a master of all drumming styles, it's an insult to the other masters.

  • @Bio69 Definitely man. Everyone has a different style and should play what they enjoy, whether it be in Metal, Rock, Jazz, Funk, Latin, etc. Everyone has different skills behind the kit and they use them to their advantage based on what music they are playing most of the time. I'm glad to see by your comment that there are still decent people who aren't fucking idiots and know what music and drumming is all about. Thanks for the comment. \m/.

  • @NewYorkJets99 whats about alexgrind?

  • @MileIotecrew He is good too. Keep in mind that I posted that comment about 11 months ago, so my views on things have changed with increased knowledge. However, the fact that George can move one foot as fast as people do with two feet is amazing.

  • @NewYorkJets99 yeah ur right

  • @MileIotecrew Thanks.

  • popo den eisai kala sta muala sou!!!!

    apsogos!!!

  • its awesome how the blastbeats are so fast that he can relax completely when doing ultra fast fills instead!

  • the only time I've seen you in pain... it pains to see Kollias like this! haha he's awesome!!!

  • he looks like dallas toller wade from above

  • - drops sticks, fixes hair-

  • q es eso ???

  • That's so not true haha. At all. I can't think of one death metal band that does only "lame blast beats and double bass triplets." Unless you count Rose Funeral but I wouldn't consider them death metal ;).

  • One of the best drummers in metal \m/

  • This and the other rehearsal videos are just plain perfect, but the sound quality is'nt that sweet :/

  • my balls just dropped.........

  • there are many more. Roddy, Goulon, Vitek

  • Barker, Kollias, Inferno my favorite drummer

  • barker sucks, kollias is the stuff

  • how dare you put barker in the same category as Kollias and Inferno!

  • I think he meant Nick Barker not Travis. So his transgression isn't as bad.

  • who the hell is nick barker?

  • dear oh dear

  • o_O

  • What About Vitek?

  • One of the only along with Roddy, Goulon, and pete sandoval.

  • HOW THE HELL DOES YOU DO THAT?!?!?! it's going way to fast for me!

  • lol at 0:04 I thought he was gonna play only fools and horses or only tools and corpses

  • I just meant that not many drummers can play that fast and for so long.

  • On high tempo he doesn't look THAT comfortable ! But that's normal I think :)

Anyway, he took the Death metal drumming style one step above for sure.

  • im not sure about that... where did he take it?

  • Do you know what it means to take it a step above???

  • yes, more than something else, your point?

  • so if you know what it means... then you realize that George Kollias has raised the bar in extreme metal drumming. He's in the upper half of the elite!!!!

  • hes good, SoP drummer, Human Abstract drummer(Nocturne album) Hannes Grossman i think are more diverse with death metal. dont get me wrong about all this, i <3 nile=]

  • Human Astract isn't Death Metal, well they do have some Death Metal influences... and are progressive as well. They are pretty cool. As for Hannes Grossman, the Necrophagist drummer is really good!!! But Kollias is still better than both, heis much more diverse than you think... watch his instructional DVD and you will find out!

  • The response by Rugidarol was written by me, I didn't know I was logged in another person's account!! haha

  • Damn,I wish I could play like that...or at least 10%.

  • best drummer

  • He looks so comfortable. Good to watch

  • Why i like watching him drum XD Aeons of Burning Galaxies is my fav his foot work i can't swivel my foot like he does =[[

  • its ok..i dont think any1 else can

  • :D i think the same ^^... n i love that vid too .. his feet :O

  • ownage

  • To the drummers out there: Is this one of the most complicated drumming songs to play? (I am not counting jazz drum solos, as they don't really count as 'songs')

  • not so much that its complicated, but it does take a lot of practive to play some of his beats, his blasts arent so much technical as they are just impressive due to the amount of stamina and speed he has.

  • Can you play at his speed?

    What styles do you play?

  • no i cant quite hit his speeds. 225 with my feet 255 with my hands. 280 with my right hand. and i like to play extreme metal but i have played thrash and other shit. whats kind of funny is i have 2 thumbs down things up there and havent warranted them. kinda crazy.

  • only 1 down thumb now ;) i agree though. kollias is amazing, but his stamina is impressive... songs like The Burning Pits of Duat where he blasts for like 2 minutes straight at the beginning is impressive

  • I love that song man =-0

  • im glad you dont think my comment sucks. its not like i was bashing kollias. hes among my favorite drummers.

  • In this one it's not only the speed, but especially the intro part is a real funky time and this is a tough one to learn. If you can get the speed, that's even better.

  • Speaking of speed I think yes, also check out something of Origin and Necrophagyst' s last albums.

Speaking of tecnique and insane rhythms, check Planet X stuff

  • check out flo mounier (cryptopsy) rehearsing Phobophile for really complicated drumming

  • Does he do one or two foot blasts?

  • one foot.

  • if you mean george then, yeah, one foot. if you mean flo then two feet. but he does some blasts that are over 300 bpm and also gravity blasts

  • I seen that shit...its brutal too

  • Hard to say, it is very complicated, I agree, but it's hard to say which song fucks drummers the most. For beginning, try these bands: Origin, Hate Eternal, Brain Drill, or search by drummers: Gene Hoglan, Derek Roddy, Mike Portnoy, Terry Bozzio.

  • geia cou re giwrgo me ta wraia cou..eida paizeic me germaniko tropo cto de3i xeri alla me galliko cto arictero...opwc kai na'xei cpernei...cynexice etci...

  • AMAZING

  • I do that all the times....in my dreams..

  • This man is one of the few drummers you can watch over and over and still be amazed.

  • It never looks like he's just kind of half-assing it, it's always so precise and skillful

    Amazing!

  • You got it man!! I can watch george's videos all day same goes for derek

  • Derek Roddy is amazing but his video are NOWHERE near addicting as Kollias!!! ;)

  • I think Derek's Traumedy-stuff is nearly as addictive :)

  • some of his stuff is really cool!!! yes, I agree... but he can get boring sometimes.
