short answer is no... you need to have the mac in order to run imovie as imovie is only for macintosh not windows...

iMovie 08 is GREAT, well except for:

No Chapter Markers for iDVD

No Share to iDVD

No Timeline !!!

No 'Save Frame'

No granularity (only global audio changes allowed)

Loss of multiple audio tracks

I tried iMovie 08, I RAN back to iMovie 06, now iLife is good again.

iMovie 06 is a FREE download for iLife 08 owners.

I just downloaded the special 'admission of failure' version of IMovie 06 for imovie 08 owners!

i use mainly imovie 06 to for my slideshows but imovie o6 also has some downpoints too because doing basically anything with movie files is an incredible feat, so mac has done some good in increasing that but as for effects that is when i still go back to the older version of imovie and srry to say the only true things in you statement is

no chapter markers

it is still only half true that you cant share it to idvd all it takes it about 2 more steps to send it there

no save frame

wellll let me think not really both at the same time other than what is shown when you drag and drop your video/audio/pictures in so i guess not really both at the same time only your video or pictures which is default for 08 ^_6 hope that helps
