  • So the Mad Hatter was a face character/Character Look A Like, but later on he became a fur/Character Performer. Know back to a Character Look A Like. Very well then. So Peter Pan was first played by a girl at Disneyland Oh very we'll then.

  • omg at 4:50 you could see the dumbo ride to your left that did not open that day, because the size of them that Walt ordered were very heavy that they coudnt be lifted.

  • Why aren't all the disney movies nowadays still musicals? And have people singing like this, for at least one song? I wish I were born 50 years earlier...

  • when my sister was 8yrs old she puked on the tea cups i was sooooo funny!! ahhh memories....

  • what an amazing legacy walt disney left to the rest of mankind

  • Fantasyland certainly had the grandest opening of them all.

  • the kids had to wait for the bridge to lower? why couldnt they just go around through frontierland. beat the crowd. hahahah

  • Happy 56th Birthday, Disneyland!

  • What a badly made-looking Dumbo here.:P

  • Opening day of Fantasyland. YES!!!

  • Over 20yrs ago, 20/20 with Barbara Walters did a special called: "The first kid to enter into Disneyland or cross the bridge of Cinderella's castle."

They had over 40,000 people call in and say that it was them... At the end of the program, Barbara Walters said that no one fit the physical description, including a description on how they were invited to opening day...

    "That kid was my Father..."

FACT... and have all the evidence to prove it, including my father who is still alive.

    Amen

  • Bring back the quality that was once Disney. Hopefully they burn out the rebuild the damage done by Eisner.

  • @tek1001 I agree Disney really went down hill when Eisner came in and took over he thew all of Walt's oringal ideas out the window and to me seemed to rule Disney with a iron fist stamping out all of what Walt worked on all of his ideas and dreams he just did it for money thake Home is Where the Heart is for example It was in the full version of TaleSpin Plunder and Lighting then for the TV version Eisner made the writer of that secene Jymon Magon edit the song out fro the TV version

  • i wanna go on the castle.. =[

  • I'm booking a surprise for my family I did my research at bestvaluethemeparks (.) com

  • Fun to see this video. Those kids must have been out of their mind excited.

  • I saw Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Pluto and Chip 'n' Dale in the telecast, but where was/is Goofy?

  • 0:26 Isn't that the American Eagle ABC Logo?

  • Proud to be a disney family!

I remember being a 9 year old, and visiting Disneyland with a family friend (the son of Mr Bushman, one of the original Imagineers).

It was the most amazing experience, he told us things and showed us parts of Disneyland that most kids didn't get to see.

It still dumbfounds me that I can honestly say that Mr Disney was a friend of a friend of oursXD!!!

  • oh hell no, tell me peter pan isn't being played by a.. GIRL.

  • The Stage Play of Peter Pan that I went to was played by a girl.

  • Traditionally, Peter Pan *is* played by a girl.

  • But that was before Walt came into the picture and had a boy do the voice of Pan for his animated movie version of the story.

  • @colbygarrrett

Well, I think it ought to stop! ; )

  • Yeah, I think he is...

  • Tracy, I hope you take Prescilla to Disneyland and take her through that magical castle. I think of you often and i miss you. Tiss

  • Me: Wow! this is gonna be great, full fo laughs! so enjoyable

    0:36 Seconds:

    *weeps*

    so beautiful!

  • the operators used to stand in the middle of the teacups and just dodge them?

  • Well, they rotate on three plates- the cups don't move position at all. if you stand in the right spot, you don't get hit.

  • o wow this is old

    i like i though=]

  • I love that classic line: when you wish upon a star..

  • in 1985 20/20 or barbara walters did a special report on the opening of the draw bridge and to find the first kid to cross the draw bridge and were nameing that kid as the "first kid to enter disneyland." They had over 50,000 people call in and say they were that kid! NONE of them were able answer the question given too them... Why? Because that person is my FATHER! Im the son of the first kid ever to cross the draw bridge, how awesome! We are a disney family and always have been.

  • omg look at those old chip and dale costumes! and the white rabbit has a human face! lol

  • I love how everything is just out in the open. So bare, so primitive. Awe inspiring to see how Disneyland has evolved over the decades. Great stuff...

  • 2:52,Captain hook dropped his his hat!It was so funny!=D

  • omg, this gave me chills.

It's amazing to see how far disneyland has come. The costumes back then were soo different. haha, look at dumbo!

  • Its wonderful to knwo alice and Wendy were there from the get-go to see them Un-freeze for the very first time.

    SIGH

I wonder fi they were anything like our modern Alice's and Wendy's

  • the princesses dont look anything like the cartoons

  • way back when being president meant opening disneyland...

  • where is capt hook pirate ship? it is coming to disneyland!

  • Is a girl Peter Pan?

  • Yes it is, it was a normal thing to have a female play young boys parts to create the illusion of male youth before puberty (that and they don't have to rehire every few years)

  • Peter pan never grows up remember?

  • this kabc 7 los anglese

  • Heck, Art Linkletter is still alive. He was at Disney's 50th anniversary. I was there too =) and maan, those tea cups must have spun HELLA fast!!

  • most people live more than sixty

  • I like the Mad Hatter, Alice, and the White Rabbit! Those were the better of the costumes.

  • Boy, the costumes have come along way since then!

  • Of course they are. It was only 52 years ago. Most people live to sixty.

  • lol

  • Imagine being one of the kids that for the first ones to enter Fantasy Land and ride all of the rides? Wow...do you think is anyone of them alive? That would be neat...i'd make a documentary about it.

  • My mother who is still alive and healthy went to Disneyland a week after it opened.

  • Unfortunately you are a bit late. They have already done a doc. on the children who are still alive now, only a handful of them are left.

  • wow do they have it here on youtube or can i see it some way?
