I remember her in 'Life with the Lyons' with her husband Ben Lyons during the '50s on the BBC Light Programme. She had a delightful speaking voice too.
@barry946 Me too! Ben and Bebe were both well-respected in the UK because they stayed in Britain during the war, rather than returning to the safety and relative prosperity of the US.
How good was the 30s in terms of music? In my view there's never been a decade like it - even the 60s which was exceptional, didn't produce as many musical classics as the 30s.
@paulkate72 I'd add the 20s to that a well. What an astonishing era it was for popular music! The difference is that back then it was written by adults for adults.
@aldiboronti - Thank you for your comments here. Yes, no doubt the 20s should be in that list. It's such a shame that modern music doesn't produce many cl;assics. Most of the music of the 90s and the last decade is pretty forgettable.
TALENT & CLASS! A thing that is long lost, and I'm afraid is gone forever! The garbage of 2010 will be long forgotten, when they'll still be looking and listening to good music & dancing! EXCELLENT PERFORMANCE & Great posting-thanks!
Great song--one that transcends time-- and it's performed well here. It's sung twice in "42nd St." by Ms. Daniels (both times in rehearsals!) and is heard as background music in her scenes with George Brent, her love interest in the film.
Bebe Daniels cut her teeth with Harold Lloyd's films. Before she moved on, She and Lloyd were ballroom dance partners who won most if not all the dance contests they entered.
it is amazing to see her as the "old pro" after watching her in the Lloyd films when she was in her teens and early 20s!
Listen to her voice as Miss Daniels moves about the stage - this was recorded right on the sound stage, not overdubbed. How many actors do that nowadays?
I just stumbled upon her. She died the day I was born.
