  • Nothing is ever as good as an original. That's like wanting a Monet immitation over the actual painting.I'm banking on Johnny Depp,I think he'll stay close to the original as he can. Can't wait till it opens! Thanks for the sneek peek.

  • At this rate, we'll be lucky to get this trailer before May 10.

And, honestly, as much as I love Johnny Depp, I'm only watching the film for two of my top 10 favorite actresses--Helena Bonham Carter & Eva Green.

  • I love Dark Shadow, watch it when I was 5 year old when was new and I still watch all the reruns of Dark Shadow as much as I can.

I would like to see Dark Shadow the movie,Hope Johnny Depp got Barnabas Collins down pack or I'll be pissed

  • I think we all know that a GENIUS like TIM BURTON would never mess this up! not to mention JOHNNY DEPP <3 DEAR GOD he looks so young (and gorgous by the way <3) when he is i costume for this new series!

  • nice hatman !!! :)

  • ...

  • well... regardless of what everyone may think of this... im sligthly expecting this movie, i´ve watched the original series and i loved them, but until the movie comes out, i think no one should critique hardly Tim´s work, he´s an amazing director he did amazing on all the movies he has done either if they where remakes or originals. And besides, everyone has they´re own likes, why figthing over trivial things, just stop the hate and wait to see the final result.

  • I'm a little worried they're ruin DS by appealing to the Twilight crowd :/

  • @hserokdivad I agree and I hope they dont tweak the story.. for the Twilight crowd... This was our Twilight time for us old skoolers. This was way ahead of its television time to have a vampire soap opera. I use kinda small when it came out but later on I saw it with my mom. She loved it... I think Barnabas Collins is way better then Edward on Twiight. The 1980s version sucked.. Ben Cross was no Barnabas Collins.

  • @TheTalentedMrRipley1 In another interview he did talk about how with these movies and tv shows coming out now with vampirs it left him wondering what happened to vampires? He talked about how he liked the vampire movies with Bela Lugosi and Christopher Lee and watching Nosferatu. I don't think it will be anything like twilight at all.

  • @ianworris I will say this, if you enjoy someones work, then that is great, I should have been more specific in what I said, all of Hollywood has turned into either safe remakes or re imagining of other ideas, I just picked Burton cause it's his movie, all I ask is something original, it would be like if the majority of all music coming out was cover tunes, it would get old very fast

  • When is Tim Burton gonna stop re interpreting other peoples ideas and just do something original? He is nothing but a hack

  • @MrOliviasdad

The work he made on Alice is the best I've ever seen in a movie. And he also caught the true spirit of Sweeney Todd.

By the way, he already did something original (Edward Scissorhands, The Nightmare Before Christmas, The Corpse Bride, Beetlejuice), and is already doing it (Frankenwheenie).

At least you should admit he's not making worthless serials.

  • @MrOliviasdad He's going to be doing Frankenweenie this year which is an original of his :)

  • If any one can carry off Barnabas Collins, it would be Johnny Depp. He is awesome in every thing he does, even in the bombs. Hope fully this will be true to the original...

  • I hope this version will have Sara, Barnabas' little sister ghost.

  • i cant freaking wait.... :P johnny depp as a SCARY AND GOTHIC VAMPIRE? um... YES PLEASE!

  • Seriously, nowadays some kind of obsession of vampires is going on...It will be interesting to see Johnny Depp as a vampire.

  • You guys can say what you want about Tim Burton, but he will do an amazing job on this movie, just like he does with every movie.

He'll stay true to the original series, but still find a way to make it his own, and put his mark on it. I'm so exited for this films release next year. Sending love your way Tim! -3

  • Vampires are overplayed nowa days, Tim Burton is just trying to make another terrible movie for all you gay ass homos to make a quick buck outta you.

  • I love how humble he is, and that he can tip his hat to other great actors. One of a kind.

  • i hope Tim Burton creates like when Ben Cross was Barnabas Collins i enjoyed that version the most wasn't too much like a soap opera then and more like a movie series

hopefully it'll be dark like when Tim and Johnny did Sweeny Todd so it would be more suspenseful i think

  • i hope Tim Burton creates like when Ben Cross was Barnabas Collins i enjoyed that version the most wasn't too much like a soap opera then and more like a movie series

  • Don't screw this movie up Mr. Burton. Stay true to the original series.

I don't think anyone could ever be as good as Angelique as Lara Parker was.

  • @janandaa..me too,I hope it'll be good,I gonna see it!

  • I don´t know dark shadows :o

  • OMG IM SOOOO EXCITED!!!! The Amazing Mind of Tim Burton Collides With the Sexii Johnny Depp Once Again!!!!!

  • Thank you Johnny for bringing back Dark Shadows!!!! I can't wait for the movie, you will do Barnabas proud :) When I was a kid I always wanted to name my daughter Josette because of the series LOL (no, I did not actually name her Josette but if my hubby would have let me, I would have haha). I can't wait to see what characters make it into the movie (there are a billion from the show).

  • Both Tim and Johnny are really big fans of Dark Shadows so I don't think they will change it too much, but you have to remember there has to be some adaptions...

  • They're doing it as a comedy.

  • I pray for this movie to be good. PLEASE DONT SCREW UP!

  • I just hope that Tim Burtin stays true to the story and not screw it up, But With his remake of Planet of the Apes, I can't help but worry.....

  • I hope they stay true to the original too. It was Depp's favorite growing up (mine too!) The movie info is at imdb.com do a search for dark shadows - i couldn't post link on here.

  • the movie comes out some time next year i think

  • No, he won't stray very far from Frid's portrayal because all Depp ever does is impressions of celebrities (Keith Richards in Pirates, Michael Jackson in Charlie & the Choc Factory). He's more an "impressionist" than an actor. At best we'll get a 2 hr Jonathan Frid imitation. At worst we'll get a slapstick slopfest.

  • I have heard about Johnny Depp playing Barnabas in a Dark Shadows remake movie for years. When is the Johnny Depp Dark Shadows expected to come out?

  • @TDS4UT The news seems to be sometime next year 2012. They were supposed to start production in April of this year. But I was unable to see the dates of some of the uploads on YouTube. Johnny Depp will play Barnabas and Tim Burton is directing it.

  • As soon as I learned they were doing this, I started trying to figure out who could play Angelique..the only person I came up with, is an actress from Days of Our Lives. Arianne Zuker plays Nicole..and if you look at early photos of Lara...she looks a LOT like her..granted nobody can come close...but I think Arianne would do a great job.

  • I wouldn't trust anyone to make this movie other than Depp - and this movie is his baby - because he's made it clear he's every child that sat next to other kids every weekday watching DS.

Saw Mr. Frid is hoing to London next week for his cameo. I want photos!

  • Please Tim Burton stay true to Jonathan Frid's Barnabas and the storyline of Dark Shadows and don't screw it up !!

  • @dance1955 AMEN!

  • @dance1955 , I agree I hope he stays true but from what I've seen as far as pictures of Deep As Barnabas in this god awfull white make up and then a cast picture on youtube that just came out about a month ago and to me it looks terrible Burton is going to screw it up I feel.

  • @dance1955 I agree with you 100 percent...

  • I hope Johnny Deep doesn't screw up Dark Shadows like he did with his version of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.. both Jonathan Frid and Lara Parker were prefect for the roles of Barnabas and Angeligue. maybe both will have a cameo in the movie I hope so.

  • @Astraldragon1 I hope Depp won't screw up too but he was a pretty good Willy Wonka.

  • Honestly..I don't think anything can ever be as good as the originals. I'm 13 & I absolutely LOVE the original. I watched the 90's version & didn't really like it. Don't get me wrong I love Johnny Depp, and I think he'll be great as Barnabas. But I'm worried about Eva being Angelique. Lara Parker did great as Angelique. I don't think Lysette Anthony was fit for the part at all. The original Angelique (Lara Parker) is one of my favorite characters. Can't wait for the movie to come out though [:

  • @slimshady5712 I was disappointed. I suppose the 1991 series didn't last long enough to warrant any criticism. The daytime soap was on for five years, and it ran every weekday. The 1991 revival was like a TV mini series. It did lousy in the ratings as the coverage of the first War in Iraq dominated the ratings. It was nice to see a modern version of the story. But I think they filmed it on the West Coast and it didn't have that Collinwood, Maine feeling at all. It was just too sunny. Too Cali.

  • @TDS4UT that's true. I'm really excited for the movie. Do you know when its supposed to come out?

  • @slimshady5712 I can remember Dark Shadows fans talking about Johnny Depp playing Barnabas from as far back as 2007. He's been busy with other projects. The Pirates movies and stuff like that. I have no idea when it's coming out.

  • @TDS4UT They were supposed to start working on it right after POTC4 came out. Hopefully that's true. I'm really excited for the movie.

  • @slimshady5712 Of course the original will always be the best, but don't forget the 1991 version was also created by Dan Curtis. The camera work, acting, and costumes were breathtaking! AND the casting. Come on, BARBARA STEELE as Julia Hoffman! Sure, it was a revision of the original, but it stands on it's own as a monument to the talents of Dan Curtis, may he rest in peace. I only hope they do him justice with the new film.

  • @Shivasavasana I'm not saying it was bad, it just didn't compare to the original to me at all. Barbara Steele was amazing as Julia I'll admit that. I've been obsessed with this show since I was 12, I'm 14 now and keep re-watching the entire show. It's the best show I've ever watched haha. I'm so excited for the movie, I think Johnny Depp's perfect to play Barnabas.

  • @slimshady5712 Lara Parker is hard to beat as Angelique. I'm just glad someone your age enjoys it, keeping this wonderful show alive! You are a credit to your generation.

  • @slimshady5712 believe me Eva Green is one of the best actresses out there! And when it comes to complex and dark characters she's brilliant :) You shouldn't worry about Angelique character when it's on Green hands ;)

  • Depp has got the right attitude about the character. And the 'Vampire in the modern world' angle is going to be interesting.

Eva - She's a good choice as a jealous witch. My only concern is the hopelessly-in-love part. Lara Parker was able to portray Angelique's love for Barnabas very convincingly, although the Barnabas character had a hard time believing it. It was all in Parker's eyes.

I hope that Eva can do something similar, that she can make us sympathetic.
