@turbonorsking No, there is NO WAY to shortcut learning the skills necessary to actually play guitar. This game simply makes it fun, and actually enjoyable experience. That aside, even if you don't buy it as a game, it's better than my amp and has way more effects than my gain pedal: for literally 1/8 the price. This is an extremely innovative piece of technology, but those who taught themselves are still at the advantage. Nobody will be as good as a true talent at guitar.

I just looked up the song list and it fails horribly. I am probably not getting the game anymore. No metal, maybe 1 hard rock song. They are all pop and gay rock from today, minus one or two good rock songs. This game is going to fail bad.

@bassluver32 Rolling Stones and Clapton are the only ones I like. In Bloom and House of the sun is ok but I wouldn't choose them to be on the game. Honestly all the others to me are crap and I don't want to listen to them let alone play them.

It's definitely the sort of game that will evolve with time and for the noobs, it would no doubt teach them how to play very quickly. I remember when I first started, I didn't have the motivation to play that often, shit, if this game came out then I would've been playing everyday within the first day rather than after a few months of playing. One last thing, it's called ROCKSMITH not Metalsmith.

it asked to play single notes and not at the full rhythm and since that was boring, I would play the powerchords/chords and it changed them to chords by the next section. I'm sure with this much innovation, it's bound to eventually have stuff like Between the Buried and Me Prog Metal difficulty, more classic metal like metallica or gnr. I also wouldn't be surprised if they start adding stuff like Yngwie Malmsteen, Paul Gilbert, Satriani, Vai later on for the more advanced players.

@bassluver32 The songs aren't super great guitar songs but, they aren't bad. I've been playing guitar for 6 - 7 years and regardless the game is awesomely fun. The dynamic difficulty is really cool since it changes the difficulty of the song depending on how well you play. I just got it today and since I never learned to play any of the songs given I just sightread them. I remember playing songs like In Bloom and Go With the Flow and it would adapt to me playing for example:

@Donnner93 yes, the game comes with a guitar  input jack to USB adapter so you can plug your guitar into your xbox. so you can use your ibanez guitar for the game

@lysolbombs470 Pretty much the same with every brand- if you buy ANY guitar for less than $300, it will not play well. As for bashing on Epiphones in general, I for one own an Epi Les Paul Standard Plus Top, and it plays as good as any Gibson Studio (yes, only a Studio, but still). But agreed, low-end Epi's and Fender Squires, feel cheap to me. Opinion. But rip out the guts and toss in some shiny new Pups (maybe change the neck, too), and you've got yourself a beaut.

If you're buying this game, I HIGHLY recommend you save up and invest in a nicer guitar, something at least in the 300 dollar range. Epiphone is generally something you want to stay away from.

Guitars go up in value, now down. Reselling on craigslist is always a possibility.

The point being, this isn't Guitar Hero. The purpose of the game is to be fun, yes, but also be a developmental tool. That said, having a nicer guitar, something you'll be able to use and grow on, is not a bad idea. If you're already considering putting down two hundred dollars, save another two hundred and find something a little nicer. Even try a pawn shop.

@lysolbombs470 Yes I do agree with that fact... but saving up 400 dollars will get you a low end epiphone new, but yeah I agree with checking out craigs list and such for a nice used one especially if you're serious about learning the instrument. All said and done I kinda really want this game lol

400 could get you a low end Strat, and for as much hate I have for Strats, I'd still take them over a $120 Epiphone you pull out of a box. lol. I'm currently looking at old Guild Starfires on ebay. There are vintage guitars, damn good ones, for under a thousand. I guess my point was to try and put in view just how little a NICE guitar can cost.
