TheLiveSakura, you say you have to install the patch for mortal kombat to play as these characters, where as your wrong, their are only 4 patches for mortal kombat out to this date, (with another dlc character coming i recon there will be more) and these patches do not enable gameplay of characters.Simple.

Also, online is casualplay at the best of times. MK9 has arguably the worst net-code for a fighter EVER. Thus, any point u may have is moot

@Sablicious As much as i agree with the fact that having Shao Kahn playable would be fun, im assuming that he would be locked from online play anyway. If not, i bet that every Shao Kahn's user opponent would quit instantly... Isn that the reason why he isnt playable anyway? He's extremely overpowered. Think about it: nobody wants to be shoulder smashed in the face constantly. I also agree about the balancing problems. They shoul've done something about the special moves, like not being (cont.)

@Alexoverkiller My fav MK? *ponders* Dunno... maybe MKII or something. None of the MKs were great games, just novel gore parades.

It's in fact why the last MKs failed--the novelty of blood and guts has worn off (for those over 15).

As for the bosses being locked for balance integrity; why not simply remove win-loss or rank / leaderboard calculations for boss use? I guarantee scrubs won't whore them then. Or, how about, BALANCING them??

Face it, De Bane is a garbage fight-game designer. Fin.

@Sablicious I have to agree about the tecnical aspect: MK was kinda all about the extreme gore than refined combat. To be honest though, even if the newer one isnt a pinnacle of balancing in fighting games, i think its alot better than the previous ones in everything. But it totaly needs tweeks on balance. About the boss use, i think a good idea would be a general downgrade. Like, longer recover time after specials and less health. On a side note, i want unlockable chars back. Im tired of DLCs.

@Alexoverkiller The one thing you can say about MKvDCU is at least the game innovated. It wasn't a great game, but Klose Kombat, pro moves, environmental interactivity etc made the game interesting, albeit poor and unfinished.

If the MKs had anything going for them, it was their innovative aspects; like the adventure modes, kart racing, weapons etc.  If MK9 had followed suit, say, with a co-op adventure mode and some unlockable mini games, the poor gameplay might have gone unnoticed. (might)

@Sablicious Indeed. MKvDC wasnt great but it had those little things that kept it interesting. I liked especially the enviromental moves. That is kinda what i miss the most in the new one: interactivity with the arenas. I had so much fun in Deception and Armageddon, even if they werent perfect. Also, you know what? I think some of the fatalities in Deception were better than the ones in MK9, lol (the only one that really impressed me was Noob's). Did you liked Shaolin Monks? Loved the coop story

@Alexoverkiller MKSM was great and IMO (and others'), the direction the series should have headed in. An idea buttressed by the sub-par game under scrutiny here.

As far as the Fats in MK9, only Shao Kahn's body rip ad maybe Goro's crush-slam did anything for me (wasted NPCs). Most of the rest just smacked of a dev clean out of ideas with what made them famous in the first place. Just like all the teleporters, the dash attackers, the generic dial-a-combo system, the Wiisy X-ray moves et al.
