It is not only having "the same information" but more importantly what can one do with the information based on how one interprets such information. The mark of a responsible leader is also to "steer" directions/actions towards the target goal when he/she sees a change/deviation on progress or on environmental changes that will affect the execution.
Execution of responsible action is never easy and constant steering will ensure incremental progress (at least eliminate sidetracks).
