The best video tutorial for a beginner to learn, very details and I like it very much. At least now I can play a song as a gift to a friend who is leaving for good >_< I wish to learn more songs with simple codes (or you guys call it other word).
Hey - so i am beginner and - well, it is useless for me without knowing what your right hand is doing ... :( ... first it seems so easy but i can't play without knowing what the right hand/fingers should do :(
Use your ears, you don't need strumming patterns let you're ears guide in the process. I'm amaze how confuse people are over such a simple part, I'm glad his not mention the finger-picking part at the beginning, which is probably the best part of the song anyways.
But if you must know its a traditional folk strum is not that hard to do. up,up,down, down,up,up,
@dspalmer99 Everyone gets so hung up on the strumming pattern. As I stated, I have never studied one and never use the same strum pattern every time I play it. I don't even think about the strum, it's just something that comes natural. Hell you can go upstroke, downstroke bla bla and it will sound really rigid. Just learn the chords and get a feel for the song, then the strum will just come. Sorry you found it useless! Cheers George
great tutorial. . . keeping aside your great guitar playing talent. . . can you share some tips with the voice practicing???^___^ i really need help 'cause when i sing,. . . i really think its good . . . but when i record it. . . damn it doesn't sound much like me T__T why is that?? your voice is great too. . . really hope i could sing like that T__T. . .
yeah knowing the strum pattern would be critical, also how you change between the chords. I am a beginner and when I switch chords, there is a brief pause and I somehow can't seem to get rid of it. Would like any help i can get on this problem.
also the lazy c, doesn't sound as good as the real c.
Nice tutorial. As a beginner ,I would have loved to see a few moments of what your right hand is doing. Perhaps in slowmotion once then speeding up. To a beginner it leaves you in mid air when you say I kinda play freestyle. Best wishes.
Hello there. Yes quite a few people are saying they would like to know the strum pattern. Thing is I play it different every time. But I am watching the comments and in my next tutorial I will make sure I include footage of my strumming. Regards George
Hi Rhoda. I really don't use any sorta strum patterns as I kinda play freestyle. Strumming is something that just comes naturally and I find it too rigid to use a strum pattern. I am picking the strings from the bass strings down using a pick. Hope that helps abit, and thanx for stopping by. George Smith
Good instructions! But I cant play the song without the strumming patterns. To me they dont come naturally and I have been playing for a while now.
