  • Speaking of Mozart inspiring other composers, from 4:17 - 4:24 sounds incredibly similar to a section of the song "Scarified" by Paul Gilbert (a modern guitarist with classical influences). Perhaps Paul was intentionally quoting Mozart?

  • Could you please make it all black? It would be much nicer.

  • I recall my astonishment at first hearing this piece - thinking I had already heard all the great piano concertos.

  • Anyone else notice that at 1:34 it sounds awfully too close to Tchaikovsky's 1812 Overture to be a coincidence? I wonder if Tchaikovsky got the theme from this, he LOVED Mozart, with good reason too.

  • @metallicragex The motif you're talking about in Tchaikovsky's 1812 Overture is La Marseillaise, which is France's national anthem, which was inspired by this piece.

  • @TheChopinesque Touche. Well, you have to love all the amazing connections between Classical.

  • this concerto inspired the french Hymne "La marseillaise" according to sources.

actually at 1'35 and 1'42 and 1'50 the measures are equivalent incredible

  • Certified Intergalactic!

  • Listen carefully to 1:15, you'll notice that the 1st violins, 2nd violins, violas, basses and woodwinds are all playing different melodies. It is almost impossible for humans to concentrate on five different melodies at once. Mozart clearly was beyond human.

  • @Am4d3usM0z4rt Oh boy, Mozart worship is alive and well on youtube. Google Robert Newman AND mozart. You may cry.

  • La Marsellaise!

  • es lo masimo este video

  • Magnificent! To listen.. Is to love it

    Merveilleux!! Qui l'ecoute... L'adore!

    Ausgezeichnet! Man muß es lieben!

    Indescritivel! E' impossivel não ama-lo

  • love that 2nd theme intro (1:33)

  • where's the rest of the movement???

  • Certified Intergalactic! Unequalled! Bravissimo Kovacevich, Davis!

  • I've always thought that the three latest Mozart concertos (25-27) exceed the more famous 20-24, not sure I can give a musically theoretical explanation why, other than the simple fact that they sound better to my ear; more emotional, more elegiac, almost as though he sense his career was near its end.

  • I think 20, 23 and 24 are much better than 25 and 26. Perhaps number 27 is at the same level.

  • What's your reasoning for this? I think all of those you mentioned plus 21 are at the highest level.

  • @sosamuera A matter of taste I suppose. I have a predilection for the opening movement of 27 myself.

  • mozartdatabase, you have excellent taste. also the mozart chamber music you posted show this..........

  • Wonderful performance! Love it!

  • I agree with cris041 it's such great piece of Piano Concerto but no foto, that sucks.

  • No image but great musicians !!!!

  • After the incomparable Mozart piano concertos (#20-24) this one is my favorite.

Thank you for posting, Mr. mozartdatabase.
