Th song is about the city and was written by Greek refugies in the Greek Island of Mytilini.

it's a shame people can use music to cause bitterness between people. music is what unites us all. greek music would not be what it is without the other ancient cultures of the middle-east and balkans who all influenced eachother back and forth over the years. no one knows what ancient greek music sounded like because nothing of it has survided except for theoretical intervals and scales. this song however is in makam karcigar which is common both to turks and greeks.

Agean music is only a part of turkish music and this kind fo music has been influanced by greek music of course, this is the rule of community which can be faced in every part of world where different cultures live together. I am Greek and my grandparents were from the Greek "Mikra Asia" (if you know that name).

I have to inform you that the music and the song is from Mikra Asia and is more older than you and everyone us are!So, the kind of that music is not Turkish.Additionally, Turkish music is based in the music you hear in this video. I have nothing with Turkish people, but i get really upset when i read such comments! First learn and then comment!

I think you should learn more about the history of Classic Turkish music 'Turk Musikisi' that is dated way back to 10th Century,than you will see that these motifs&instruments are coming from, which of course not the only one among 100s motifs.

PS.I don't have nothing with Greeks either, and not saying 'Greeks stole from Turkish Culture' but you have to admit that they lived together and there is resemblence which is obvious in this video
