wow ure fleet is TINY! try to conquer a hole star with my fleet took me 2/3 hours but then i used it for making a fleet had 263 light frigates 8 capital ships and 295 cruisers

to mod the game to start off with lots of money, metal and crystal go to where you installed the game ( C:\Program Files (x86)\Stardock Games\Sins of a Solar Empire\Galaxy ) open one of the maps in text at the bottom is players set one of there starting values higher ( warning the spawn value is random so after change player 0 you may become a different one so just keep restarting the game till you got the values you wanted )

i think the lag is caused by the engine independentely from your hardware. i had a geforce 7 till this month and didnt check the graphics options since then but with my new HD5850 it still lags like hell. the rest of my hardware is lets say half as powerfull as yours but one might think that should do for a game of that age
