When Xiao chong accused him of coping other musicians' work, I did find some truth in it. Leehom Wang have pieces that strongly resemble other chinese musicians' work and western musicians' work. For example, his "Step Aside" from Heroes of the Earth and Rapper Jibb's "Chain Hang Low" are pretty much the same song in different languages. Leehom Wang has gone too far to called an original songwriter and a good musician. He doesn't deserve my respect.
@dubulidududu : well...did you know that Chain hang low was released a year AFTER lee hom's heroes of the earth album?
There are many pieces from lee hom that comes from sounds and songs that he heard from ethnic minorities. His "chinked out" style comes from combining such sounds (traditional asian elements) with hip hop.
his originality also comes from the different elements that he incorporates into his music to transform taiwanese pop songs into a different level
@dubulidududu: Jibb's song and Leehom's song are both based on a famous American folk melody called "Turkey in the Straw", well known since the 1820's! All American kids know a popular version of it that goes "do your ears hang low, Can you throw them o'er your shoulder. Like a Continental Soldier. . . " XiaoChong is either extremely uninformed and unprofessional, or a lying hired gun.
