When I was stationed in Turkey ('84 - '86), we did IG (Inspector General) inspections from base-to-base flying a King Air 100. Really sweet, and it handled weather big time. T-35 is a cool plane, one of my favorites. Never got to fly in one, but I would have liked to.
Just wanted to clarify to those I am assuming "civilians" that find it impossible to understand the fact that the US Military does indeed contract private firms to fly certain missions. The answer is yes!!! They do and I have been in a couple of them when I flew overseas for deployments!
Nice and sleek but that thing is tight. I had to sit next to the exit hatch to have some leg room. Take off on that thing is nuts felt like it was gonna do a back flip. Awsome experience. Went up in it during an O.R.E. exercise at the 103rd aw.
I got to fly on one of these from RAF Milden Hall to Ramstein in 1999. Our clearance was 42,000 over the North Sea. We shot out of there and climbed like a rocket. Sure beats the C-130 that I normally went on. Go USAF!
Didnt he just explain why the Air Force has Learjets? So, what kind of change do we need dragoon0313? Would you like to deny Air Force personnel and families from recieving medivac services. Has anyone here even flown the 35?
Do people know how fucking stupid they apear when they post idiotic comments about youtube video's?
Well, the mission is certainly important, but this video doesn't explain any of the economics, so it hardly "explains" or justifies the use of the aircraft. A very high number of flight hours is required to create a compelling reason to OWN jets as opposed to simply buying their services.
What is the cost vs. charters, or simply contracting the entire mission to a private company?
As with any business, show me the numbers, then we'll discuss your explanation.
The military contracts MANY of its missions out to private contractors. Air transport, logistics, security (ever hear of a little company called BLACKWATER? (new name now though).
Lol, then ask yourself why we have a bunch of private military companies (PMC's) fighting our wars in Iraq and Afghanistan? Blackwater, Ravenwood and a bunch of the other ones are private companies fulfilling military missions are they not? Who's the moron now? :)

The Army uses the C21A also. It's one of only 3 or 4 fixed wing planes they use now.

No such thing as 42000 ft. Maybe 410, 430 and 450 is the max.

You know he didn't join the Air Force to fly a Lear. I'm sure he wishes he flew fighters.
