head teachers really do suck. our nearly cancelled music altogether at my school! they got rid of German for a DT lesson hardly anybody even took and even though music is still a GCSE option all of the cuts made it hard to get new stuff like instruments and new music sheets. in choir we have to sing older stuff. :(
School administrators are generally unsuccessful, substandard teachers who go on to get administrative degrees after the students bully them out of the classroom. They then get their revenge by treating the good teachers like shit, allowing kids to get away with murder while taking sides with parents against teachers, and earning scandalous amounts of money (thinking they actually earn it). Reality: there is plenty money in the school system. It just goes to the wrong places.
This reminds me of a conversation I had with my former middle school principal who was convinced that it would not be a problem to have two different band groups rehearse in the same room at the same time and that it should be no problem for me to supervise both of them at once. She couldn't understand why I objected.
Where does he live that he earns an average of $51K/yr, but he still must work three jobs to make his mortgage payment. He needs to get his elitist teacher's head out of the cloud and move to a neighborhood he can actually afford. And he's complaining that he has to come in on Tuesday mornings. It must be nice. My college educated husband works 12 hr/day six days a week and he makes less than the average teacher. We pay 75% of our health insurance and we don't have dental insurance.
This is excellent! I was asked to supervise playtimes when I was a drum tutor at a private school LOL!!! It was quite fun, but looking back on it I think they were taking the P I double S.
These videos are just TOO real to be funny, I'm afraid. That's why many of us professional performers and top musicians don't want to teach in schools anymore. Until we stand up and say "NO! This is not acceptable", this won't change. I know these are meant to be funny, but for many of us that have been through it, it's just sad and all too real! Full marks for presenting our side of being a music tutor in a school to the rest of the world. This series should be syndicated on FOX!
@THEFCJO Hey, we all have to make choices in life. Work is work, if you can find a job that pays well, has plenty of resourses and everyone is nice to you, then your extremely *%^&ing lucky. However, if you chose to be a teacher or a pro musician, then you must except the limitations of these professions. Whats not acceptable is demanding a different outcome when you rely on the funding of others to support you. If you don't like the job , don't do it, but keep your hands outta my pocket.

This is sadly true - when he mentions he has to go work at his third job on his holidays off.
