  • Ok... So i am somewhat newto rooting and roms, but i successfully rooted my charge and installed this gummy charged 2.1 rom. I was trying to get to know it better and restore my old back up but something went wrong. Now i cant boot passed samsung logo. I can boot. Into recovery but nothing seems to work to get it running on eother saved backup or gummy charged. Any advise?

  • @abuamatullah1 The problem is likely your backup method. Charge is sensitive to backups with many process not working. How did you backup? Did you follow the guide on XDA? All you need to do now is flash whatever you would like via odin or clockwork. If Gummy is your choice use clockwork & flash 2.0 letting it fully start up. Then 2.1. Let me know...

  • ANd I was wanting to up grade to the blue boot up menu like what you have, can you put a link to download that please and also if I get the link do I put the file in odin or do i download it to my phone to get the blue boot up menu? Also if you know any ROM that you know id better than Gummy 2.1 will you post that link to Please?

  • @foxracer457 The bootup that you see here is built into Gummy. If you would like to pick between ROMs, I would suggest going to XDA forums under the Droid Charge Development portion. All are there. Sadly it is limited since most devs have moved on to the Nexus.

  • Hey thank you for all of this! I have flashed my phone and i have the old like yellow and black or orange and black boot up menu and im running Gingerbreak GBE 2.1 on my phone right now.

  • @foxracer457 Excellent and you're welcome.

  • Hey Dave, would this bet the same process when installing other roms?

  • @Ichig06 Yes, I have many ROMs on my SD card that I just switch between. This one had a flaw in 2.0, so you must flash 2.0 and restart your phone. Then flash the 2.1 patch the exact same way. Let me know how it goes. Sorry for the long wait on a reply. I found out Firefox broke my ability to reply to people.

  • will this rom and video work for droid charge running 2.3.6 (used your video to root)

  • @wtoj34 Yes, if you have the needed parts first. Coming from Gummy 1.9 or 2.0 should work. The problem is that is ROM dev team moved on to the Nexus, so it is no longer updated and will set your phone to an older version of Gingerbread. But it is super fast! And the FBI took away our LEGAL file sharing, so for the moment we are out of luck. Try the links and see what happens.

  • @kraisydave yea link does not work :(

  • PLEASE HELP! instead of it coming up in green it comes up in blue and only has a few options :/ (in recovery mod)

  • @kraisydave first off thanks for vid. Ok so I installed gummycharged 2.1 but now my lockscreen doesn't work and my battery life is horrible. Would appreciate some help in doing so or point me in right direction.

  • @esparza40oz Lockscreen was a common issue...turn it on to the one you want in settings and then restart the phone. Should clear it up. If you read in the form they turn it off for some reason. Same with the clock. Battery should not suck... may need a new clean flash of 2.1 starting from 1.9. It should be way better.

  • how do you update the radios? Or does flashing gummy charged 2.1 have the radios built in?

  • @OlivetCollegeCS I cannot add a link here, but you can flash the radios. And no they are not in this version of 2.1. They are recommended, but some have not updated to them. Look on xda forums or rootzwiki for them.

  • @kraisydave Do I just flash them like regular? Using PDA and all... I guess I don't really fully understand how I could flash JUST the radios.

  • @OlivetCollegeCS The radios being update is just software. It happens almost every time you run a new ROM or go from an older system of android to a newer one. Updating them all depends on the file containing the info. Read the post you find the update from on how to. Generally this done through odin just like any ROM.

  • @kraisydave I've done it that way already and it didn't take...but I'll try wat u said about installing 2.1 and then deleting factory reset. after i wipe do you want me to install 2.0 and 2.1 again or just try to run it after wiping? and i flashed it back to vzw eg2 so that I could go through the steps from square 1.

  • @tharealnicolae There is a chance that your download is bad, but I doubt it. This one is hard to install. Normally factory reset does just what it says. I used it and went right into 2.1 without issue...strange huh? Just another idea to get you through this.

  • I can't get passed the boot loop...I take the battery out at the black screen during installation of the gbe 2.0...then i go back to recovery and install 2.1 and reboot....then i get a loop....and yes i downloaded the CWM_Recovery4008 file and everything

  • @tharealnicolae When you have 2.1 installed and get the boot loop did you go into clockwork recovery and wipe the caches?

  • @kraisydave yes I got the boot loop so i went back into recovery and deleted the dalvic cache and the other cache and I got the same thing after restarting

  • @tharealnicolae This version seems to be hard to get it to take once in a while. I would say install 2.0 and wipe. Then move to 2.1 and do the same. If that takes great. If not then install 2.1 and wipe the factory reset in order to start again. Sorry as I know how annoying this can be. What was your setup before you started? Have you taken the OTA updates?

  • dont know if this is normal but I cant lock the phone? the pattern or pw lock does not work :( any ideas?

  • @fruittbooter Lock screens have been a problem for me also. I had to select the lock screen I wanted, power down, pull battery, and then it finally took. I think I did this more than once.

  • @TheHillbilly667 Sorry,,, missed this message. static is a bug in the droid charge for some. I will go over to the forums and look for solutions. I am not sure if it is a software or hardware issue. It could be a warranty if hardware.

  • Ok Dave well more issues have appeared I'm getting static when I'm on the phone the Michelle crackles and then it stops. Then after I better off the phone ill lock the screen and it starts making static noises in my pocket there not even somewhat quite there extremely loud. I used small backup plus, titanium backup for all of it. I've uninstalled antennas and reinstalled them cause I was having issues when I wake up in the morning and having no signal.

  • Ok made my way over to gummycharged 2.1and im haveing some issues when I go in to view battery history I get force close on spare parts do you guys have a fix for that yet? Another thing its taking forever to get texts ive gotten the anttenas and hasnt fixed anything. Its running real slow at times and the screen goes dim and its really slow. Also im not getting alot of time out of my battery like everyone so what am I doing wrong or what do I need to do to fix.

  • @TheHillbilly667 Battery history is broke on this ROM. I will have to look and see if they finally put out a patch. You other issues are a little unique. Did you restore your text from an app? Which one? I have a couple of ideas, but need that info first.

  • I am running gummy charge 2.0 on debloated_deodexed_ep4d. how do i flash a ep1?

  • @Thegamyer You may or may not need the radios. If you do, just download them and flash them via clockwork. I cannot post a link here as youtube doesnt permit it. You can find the download on rootzwiki droid charge forum. Backup first as this has given some trouble.

  • I know this might be a bit late to this thread, but this is what I am doing and I am not having any luck at all.

1.I first do a clean install of a stock rom, 2. I then flash CWM 4.0.1.4 (if I need to use 4.0.0.8 then ok), 3. Then I boot into recovery and go throught the steps presented and clean out the cache and all just for grins, 4. Then I reboot back into recovery and then install Gummycharged 2.0, now when I go into about phone I see that the my baseband version says EP1G and not EP1.

  • **continued**

I made sure I downloaded the correct rom, infact the froyo rom im installing is the same as in the video that shows you how to install gummy charge 2.0.

Finally after I install GC GBE 2.0 and reboot I get stuck at the samsung screen and I can no longer boot into the OS and in the recovery screen will not accept the SD card attached to my phone.

    What am I doing wrong?

    Any help would be awesome

  • @TheDouglicious01 Is the stock ROM rooted? You WILL need the other version of clockwork... 4.0.0.8 and voodoo. Let me know.

  • dave ive got boot loop bad

  • @TheHillbilly667 Where are you at now?

  • All, I will be gone till Monday at which time I can reply for help again..thanks!

  • So I want to update to GummyCharged GBE 2.1, and I currently have GummyCharged FE, but I'm not sure what version. But in the About screen, it shows EG2 under Baseband Version, not EP1.

What do I do about this? Should I be on a different version of GummyCharged FE first, or can I just flash GBE through CWM?

Thanks for all the helpful videos, I've learned alot about rooting and ROMs from them!

  • @codymws I am not sure if EG2 will work or not. You can try it, but you may have to revert back. You can flash the suggest radio of EP1 via odin similar to how you got where you are now. I will dig up the link again or you can look at Rootzwiki Charge Forum as it is there w/ instructions. Other than that you should likely be ready to flash 2.1 just like in the vid. Let me know how it goes. It is a little sticky sometimes...

  • @codymws You are just about all set. You will need to the correct antennas maybe. You can try to just follow all the steps in the video without adding them. After everything is up and running and you run into antenna based connection issue you will know that you need them. I have heard of people on your setup not needing it. All you would have to go is flash the antenna file via odin. You can find the antennas on the Rootzwiki forum under my How To post about 3 down. I cannot post a link here.

  • @kraisydave Okay, thank you! I'll try that then. If it doesn't work, I can always flash the stock ROM in Odin and start over.

  • I followed all of your instructions, but after I do the GummyCarged GBE 2.0 install, it is stuck at the samsung logo

  • @zslion15 Yep, it likely will. That is why they made the 2.1 update. Move on to that and you should be good to go. Let me know.

  • @kraisydave I tried to install 2.1 after 2.0 but even after all of your instructions I'm still stuck at the Samsung screen

  • Comment removed

  • @zslion15 Did you erase all the correct sections while in Clockwork? Try those again let me know. It should fix it up. Also if you get stuck give it 10 minutes. Then if still no luck, pull the battery and try once more. If that still does not work you will need to flash again and maybe re download the file. But I bet the erasing will fix you up. Let me know...

  • @kraisydave Ok I tried all of that and still didn't work. Also after I install 2.0, when I go back into recovery, it says it can't mount the SD card when I try to update to 2.1. I don't know, any other Gingerbread rom works fine except for this one.

  • @zslion15 Are you running this??? It is a fix for boot loop.

    Updates:

If you are having issues with the Samsung boot loop please flash this in odin, wipe data, then install GBE 2.0 again.

    CWM 4.0.0.8 Voodoo

The link is in the show notes... this forum doesn't let me add them here. Go to the 2.1 download and scroll down in the first post. Let me know...

  • @kraisydave yes I'm running CWM 4.0.0.8. I did everything you and the forum said to do. I just don't know how to get it working.

  • Ok thanks again still can't wait for monday.

  • (1.9RC2.3) is mentioned in the download links in the xda forum its a cwm only install

  • @Jonesjc219 Sorry forgot as it has been a bit since I ran 1.9. Just make sure you odin only the odin version of 1.9. After that RC would be fine, but I never did use that update. You can go from the odin version of 1.9 to GummyCharge 2.0 Gingerbread with the update to the 2.1 patch without issue.

  • Bout time. I think I'll root then follow your update on weather or not its worth unrooting. CAN'T WAIT

  • @Jonesjc219 Yeah! I hope it will be cool. I am betting there will be a ton of people with issues tho... This stopped working, this app is no longer there, the phone can no longer see the cell tower. We will see. But I am excited because that will give a full copy for the devs to work with,

  • @kraisydave one more question do I need to do the rc2.3 update for 1.9?

  • @Jonesjc219 If you are talking about the OTA update then no...it will unroot your phone. If not, then point me to the update and I will check it out.

  • I'll let you know how it goes. And I subscribed hope to see new vids

  • @Jonesjc219 Thanks for subscribing... I have a couple of ideas for some vids, but I need to get off my butt. Did you know that an Over The Air update for the Charge is slated for possibly Monday? It looks like we will be getting the official Gingerbread. I was thinking about a vid showing how to get Rooted phones back to being ready for this OTA who want it. It will unroot the phone tho. But soon after devs will fix that up. Thanks again for the subscription.

  • Sounds to easy! I'm a try it first chance I get. Thanks for the quick responds and I owe you a drink.

  • @Jonesjc219 It is! But you may run into some bumps along the way. Just send me a message and I will do what I can. A common problem is to erase the phone and not get the new system to take. Don't fear as it happens often and the phone is not bricked. Just prepare yourself for that. Once you get it down you will be able to jump around to all kinds of ROMs at will. Remember to backup what you can as this will start your phone over as if it was brand new!

  • Use gummy1.9 instead of the .tar and I'm good to move on to 2.1 from that without changing radios or kernels

  • @Jonesjc219 .tar is just the file name extension like .jpeg or .doc. But yes, 1.9 to 2.1 should get you all ready. When you flash 1.9 via odin and your computer you will need to add one little step most likely. If you watch my rooting charge video, right before I say to hit start on odin you need to just place the battery back into the phone. Don't do anything else different but that very little step. If may or may not be needed. If you hit start and get a fail that is likely it.

  • @kraisydave I'm coming from stock never rooted what do I need to do to get gummycharged 2.1 if I download 1.9 via oldin does it autoroot for me and install cwm?? Plz help I've read and watched everything and am more confused then before

  • @Jonesjc219 No worries..you need a lot of pieces to be ready to flash ROMs like Gummy2.1 or Humble which are the top leaders. You need to be rooted, have superuser, voodoo, and clockwork at a minimum. You have to go around and collect up all the versions of these you will need. Or you can just follow my first video. Then do the same as in the video, but use Gummy 1.9 and then you are all set! You will have to visit the market for updates to superuser, but you will be all set to flash what ever.

  • can i flash this rom if my phone is on 2.2.1?

  • @DaddyFreck You can get there, but what radios are you running? And can you be more specific with 2.2.1>like what type of ROM/Root are you running?

  • @kraisydave im running your root and gummycharge FE 2.0 (the one in your previous video.)

  • @DaddyFreck You should be all set then. Just make sure your radios match mine in the video and you are all ready! Let me know how it goes so we can learn from your experience. Some make it right through without issue. I had, like many, had a black screen lockup that you can see was easily fixed on my vid.

  • Nvm got it working! Thanks for The Tut, Great Rom, super fast

  • @echoes15 Great! I was out of touch due to work. How is it going for you? I have been loving it. I went to sleep with a 100% charge and woke with a 95%...great battery life!

  • @kraisydave Do you mean on standby without data? It seems to drain somethings idk if i have a setting on or something?

  • @echoes15 About the battery, no. I had my phone on like normal with wifi connected. I went to sleep without the phone being plugged in. When I got up after about 8 hours the phone only lost 5% of total battery life. You having issues then?

  • @kraisydave The life span always changes lol idk why

  • Comment removed

  • seems to be stuck on samsung boot logo =/

  • @echoes15 Bummer.. the pull battery, then restart and erase dalvik did not work huh? As you can see from my other vids I usually walk people through issues like this. I will help all I can with you, but I will be out of touch till Monday likely due to work. If you cannot get beyond this, just flash the rooting .tar from other vid which will get you up and running till I can reply again or head over to rootzwiki and see if the devs can help in the forums. Till then clockwork dalvik is you bestbet

  • @kraisydave ya formatted phone >.< put stock root back on, debating if i should go to 2.0 again and try lol.

  • @Kraisydave I got it working and its amazing. I cant believe how fast it is. Thank you for all your video.

  • @elaynetate I know right???!! It is a little thing, but I have been amazed simply by the movement between the apps and home page. It is just lightning fast. When I first started the phone the software took, but the build number under the settings was wrong. I restarted the phone and it fixed...just or info.

  • @kraisydave Its me again lol. I followed your video but after I downloaded gummycharge 2.1patch Its flashing the samsung. Should pull battery and try again?

  • @elaynetate No worries... you got through all the steps then.. And once you got 2.1 flashed after 2.0 you got the stuck phone right? It happened to me also. Just pull the battery and replace. Restart the phone an you should be good so long as your phone was ready with all the other requirements like the antennas. Once it fully sets up you really should reboot it again. From there you will have a super phone. Mine has been so very fast!

  • Very nice tutorial man! I suggested this be a sticky in the forums.

  • @garyhicks09 Thanks...more to come so long as time permits.

  • I am on i510.06 v.ee4 and SCH-1510.EE1 baseband, how would i flash to the one i need?

  • @echoes15 Thanks for the questions. Ones like this help me to update the show notes. I will have to look for the download. I would look in rootzwiki and xda developers sites. We need to find you the radios and then you just flash them. Depending on the build they would be flashed via Odin or via Clockwork from within the phone. If you follow my vids from Root, to Odin 1.9 Gummy (no vid as the process is the same), then Clockwork flash Gummy2.0 and you will have the needed software.
