Thank you for this delicious Banana bread recipe. My Husband and I enjoy this so much that I am baking my third this very moment . I can't wait to share with my grandkids. I am calling it anabanana bread. Ms. ana from sa tx.
I just make this recipe with a little twist adding half of teaspoon of vanilla extract and small bag of walnuts, it turn out delicious. My kitchenaid mixer arrived today and this is how I got to used it for the first time. Thanks for the recipe Jason.
I just got a KitchenAid mixer for Christmas, so I decided to give your banana bread a try. Now, keep in mind, I'm just some dude from Boston that's never cooked a thing in his life. After following your recipe to the tee, this banana bread came out AWESOME!!! I've been looking to make something homemade to bring to family events and parties, and I think I've found that perfect thing with your banana bread! Thanks for the recipe!
Thanks a bundle ChefTips, this recipe really helped! Instead of using all purpose flour, I grinded oats(whole grains are always more superior to enriched flours, health wise)(can use whole wheat). And instead of all butter, I also used mostly Neufchatel Cheese (similar to cream cheese) instead of all butter. Both (Neufchatel Cheese and grains) I have noticed added an extra richness and moistness to my baked goods! Thanks again Chef!
this is great bread!! I have used it a few times now, and blogged about it :-) the last time I made it I added some nutmeg and cinnamon, and I liked it a lot. Thanks for the recipe!
Banana Bread is a pain in the arse to make in a Loaf Pan... Sometimes the center does not get cooked. Using that Bundt Pan is a neat idea. My oven doesn't cook evenly I believe..
few days back I added strawberries together with just one banana coz i had run out of then... ha ha. and it was like a strawberry moist bread. Family enjoyed it. :D
Hey chef, can I use one teaspoon of baking powder ( instead of baking soda) and half spoon of baking soda( instead of baking powder)? What is the difference if I use more baking powder and less baking soda with your recipe?
i just made this, but in a muffin tray, and wow, my 1st time making any sort of banana bread, and wow they came out awesome!!! um um um um um um um um not one left over!!!!!!! thanks! made mine with brown sugar as well, all i had!! lol
WOW..just made it with all the sugar I had..which was a little less than 1 cup..it is absolutely delicious..just the way I like it..just sweet enough since I don't like it too sweet..Thanks..the funnel cake is next
I made this recipe 2 cups of whole grain bread flour 1/2 cups of honey 2 eggs 1 tsp of baking soda/powder 1 tsp cinnamon 3 very ripe mashed bananas 1/2 cup of salted sweet butter cream (creamed with honey or sugar) 1 tsp vanilla extract (pure) 4 tablespoons of sour cream So what do you think? Also do the bananas have to be real ripe so the bread won't turn out fluffy?
@ChefTips The first time was the delectable but I'm going to try to make it again to double check it. I just made this up for fun and tried it and it was good. I hope you can test it out yourself too and see what you think has to improve.
Hey Chef, I really love this video and I used your recipe to bake a very wonderful and yummy banana cake. I tried several recipes before, but the one you post here is the best. The banana cake tastes great, the texture is moist and soft, the presentation is good too. I added walnut and cranberry, the taste is wonderful.
Thank you very much for your sharing, and sharing your secret ingredient--sour cream, you are a good chef and wish to see more of your posting and sharing here. Best wishes.

Hi Jason! I moved to the Republic of Georgia and of course banana bread is unheard of overseas. Your banana bread is a big hit in my small Georgian town! The European diplomats like it as well. My friend and I will make some huge batches for the poor refugee kids that we teach and my Romanian friend is spreading the recipe around Bucharest!!! You are going global!
@kshanafelt Wow! What a compliment! I'm so glad you are all enjoying the recipe and that it's being put to good use — especially for the poor refugee kids. Very, very cool!! Cheers, Jason
@ChefTips I've made this 3 times and it is a no fail regardless of what baking pan I use
so ignore my previous inquiry The batch I did in the bundt pan I purchased actually was a little overdone at 1 hr so I assumed my oven temp to be off and baked the mini loaf pans for 40 min and they were perfect
@ChefTips I don't have a bundt pan. What would you suggest timewise for mini loaf pans the recipe will fill 4 mini pans I guess it's about 1 3/4 cup batter each maybe
@Rmaykupjunkie I use Weight Watchers sour cream in anything where I need it and its so low in fat that there's no reason to feel bad about using it. Great recipe, used it a year or so ago and came back today to find it and use it again.
Thank You for posting this recipe. I have come back time and time again to make this recipe and always look for your video! The best recipe that I have tried. I have tried many!
Ok so I just tried out this recipe (but I used 4 small bananas and 2 big ones) and i was able to make 2 pans, one with chocolate chips and WOW this recipe is sooo amazing!! Initially my sister thought the sour cream would make it taste weird but it was soooo moist and soft and VERY delicious! Our family has just found a way to make use of super ripe bananas! THANKS CHEF JASON!!!
Amazing! I doubled the recipe but only used 2 cups of sugar (67% of the amount in the recipe) and it was still plenty sweet. Also, I added frozen blueberries and it was unbelievably delicious. Thanks Chef!
i tried this recipe and let me tell u im in LOVE my mothers recipe is being replaced:) Do u know if i want 2 substitute the sugar to apple sauce how much of the apple sauce should i use?..AAhhh these new years resolutions kick your butt!
@kalisfinest805 Wow! What a compliment! Thanks for sharing. Good luck on your diet. Instead of the apple sauce, I would just splurge on a small slice. :)
made this twice now.tried many banana cakes but this is by far the best.extremely moist and fluffy.made some changes to suit my family's preference, though.i used only a cup of sugar and used yoghurt instead of sour cream and increased baking powder to 1 tsp.i also gently folded in the flour in the end for a softer and fluffier cake
hi chef jason, i was wondering if i can use the egg whites only instead of using the yolk so i can lower the cholesterol level, would it make the banana bread different?
Hello. I have never made this recipe with egg whites. In baking, the white of the egg and the yolk combine to make a nice texture. Using only the whites will work. You will end up with healthier bread that has less texture. If you make this, please let us know how it turns out.
I made this once before, but it's been a while. I'm going to make it again tomorrow. I'm going to do one thing a little different. I'm going to try using vanilla yogurt instead of sour cream. It might come out better, it might come out worse, but I'll never know if I don't experiment. Unless you tried that already. If you did, how did it turn out?
@ChefTips I used vanilla yogurt instead of sour cream. Stay with the sour cream. It didn't come out anywhere near as good as the sour cream one I made the first time. You can't shoot me for trying something different, though. Nothing ventured, nothing gained.
Okay its 3:30 PM and I just popped the pan in the oven... we shall see ( or taste rather) I think the hard part is the wait. Funny part, I was online looking at a knitting videos... then I thought about all the bananas i had to toss out because they were going bad... lol glad I came across your video. I was going to throw out perfectly -good for baking- bananas.. ( I'm thankful for my random thoughts lol )
i've tried quite a few banana bread recipes in the past...so far this one is by far the best of em all ! I'm glad I've found this one , Tnx to You tube and to you chef JH ! This one is now my forever banana bread recipe!!
this is my go to recipe.. follow the recipe exactly and youll have the best banana bread!

made this twice now.tried many banana cakes but this is by far the best.extremely moist and fluffy.made some changes to suit my family's preference, though.i used only a cup of sugar and used yoghurt instead of sour cream and increased baking powder to 1 tsp.i also gently folded in the flour in the end for a softer and fluffier cake

how would this turn out with cream cheese instead of sour cream?

@luis703487
Hello. There are recipes for banana bread that use cream cheese. For this recipe, stick with the sour cream.

hi chef jason, i was wondering if i can use the egg whites only instead of using the yolk so i can lower the cholesterol level, would it make the banana bread different?
gunboykhang 1 year ago
@gunboykhang Go ahead and give it a try. I'm not certain how it will turn out, but it's worth testing!

@gunboykhang
Hello. I have never made this recipe with egg whites. In baking, the white of the egg and the yolk combine to make a nice texture. Using only the whites will work. You will end up with healthier bread that has less texture. If you make this, please let us know how it turns out.
Cheers!

@elpilotoazul Haven't tried it. Please let us know how that works for you!
ChefTips 1 year ago

Will this be too much to fit a bread pan?
livelovelearn421 1 year ago
@livelovelearn421 You would probably need two.
ChefTips 1 year ago
Can I use a bread pan instead or would that be too small?

I made this over at my parents place. THEY LOVED IT. and so did I. ;-) Thanks for sharing this one.
