  • Ged should have used his Rickenbacker 4080?12

  • why did they cut out part of the song?

  • The best!!! or the bests??!!!

  • A honeydew a day keeps the Bieber at bay.

  • Neil you need to bring back the Orchestra chimes!

  • The 1 person is Edward V.Halen wishing he could tune Alex's guitar. The greatest band mankind has or will ever know. End of conversation!!!!!

  • A grand total of one person didn't take a clue from an ancient book either!

  • But EASY to pray to...

  • Hard to dance to.

  • Reminds me of the Saratoga show a couple weeks earlier I believe. Couldn't believe they pulled this one out of their bag of tricks... AWESOME!

  • I have been in awe of Alex for 30 years and have seen Rush 16 times.......The comment by xyz321123 is well earned by Alex Lifeson. That template gave us the greatest rock guitarists humanity may ever produce;.......Hendrix,Page;.....Slash may have been the last one pruduced by this mold....Love Rush!!!!!!!!!! GnR re-union? Let us pray!!!!!!

  • @54analsex I know, for I have seen. As much as you may want a GNR reunion, I can honestly tell you that you don't. Axl Rose has long since become fatter and less talented. Don't get me wrong I love GNR, but don't pray for a reunion. I downloaded a show from Rio de Janiero that aired a few weeks ago and I was ready to cry. It's a shame that one of the greatest frontmen in history has lost his talent.

  • This is one of my absolute favorite songs of all time, No joke!

  • EXCELLENT!!!!!

  • 1 Poor soul never dined on honeydew or drank the milk of paradise....

  • Alex is a once in a lifetime guitarist.. God retired that template... Its hanging from heavens rafters...

  • if i were backstage and they played this song, when Geddy sings the lyric (for i have dined on honeydew...) i'd walk out on stage with a glass of milk and a slice of honeydew :D

  • Bump!!!!

  • am i the only one that saw washing machines at 3:34

  • @weird519 They had three dryers on the Vapor Trails tour, with T shirts in all. At the end of the night they threw them into the crowd- the shirts say on the back: "I got this shirt from Dryer #3 on the Vapor Trails tour" etc. Very funny.

  • Pure perfection.........Incredible creativity..........Their live sound still boggles my mind after seeing them 17 times..You haven't lived fully until you've seen a Rush show............I agree;.Hope they bring Xanadu back again.

  • they need to bring this one back out again for Clockwork Angels tour 2012.

  • @ieetemos4breakfast I would probably think so back into the set list., many people are asking about it.

  • The best Rush song ever but they don't play this alive. Home turf maybe...

  • @lukemanify cause if they played the studio version it would be 11:00 minutes long...i have to disagree though, i think 2112 is their best song

  • Whod'a thunk - the greatest rock band ever would be three nerds from Canada.

  • I love 2:05 !!!!!!

  • a grand total of one person tonight will NOT dine on honeydew

  • @torgo4ever thats because they dont deserve it! :)

  • @torgo4ever I don't get it. There was enough to go around....I had honey dew. Did you?

  • you'll be alright...I hate bing a 40year old..""BUT""the good news is rush is still together and you can still see them live....""""""GO BE YOUNG,GO HAVE FUN...

  • Alex Lifeson...one of the most under-rated guitarists of all time!!!!

  • 1:16

    Priceless!

  • fuckin' awesome! Right after Snow Dog!

  • 2:00....GEDDY IN PLUS ONE OF ITS MAGICIANS.

  • During the Exit...Stage Left tour Alex played the part that starts at 2:01 on the 12-string . This time on the six-string. Any idea why? I liked how much more full the 12-string sounded.

  • @roydesoto My first tour was the 'Moving Pictures tour' in '81 and it was really the last tour of the kit you mentioned. As an 11 year old attending my first concert, my vivid recollection more than anything else that night was THAT drum kit. It is still - to my mind - the most impressive intimidating kit I've ever seen. I udnerstand the desire for electronics, but I miss the all acoustic kits.

  • Wow, sounds just like Rush.

  • Makes me sad that Geddy isnt playing the Rickenbacker 4080 for this song...

  • Fucking bad ass! I was at this show and next to pink floyd was one of the best concerts i have ever seen!

  • Im not in the habit of criticising my favourite band, but does this song fit with the washing machines in the background? LOL

  • I think since this is 30th anniversary the washer and dryer is a representation of when they started out in a garage or basement?

  • It doesn't get much better

  • At 1:48 the video freezes for me, it's obviously not the video but..bummer.

  • this is awesome, but whats with the washer and dryer?

  • @kingsovereignty4209 I'm not sure which, but on one tour, Geddy started to plus his bass directly into the sound mixer, instead of into an amp that had a mic that was hooked into the sound mixer, to get a clearer sound, and since he didn't need amps, he tried to find funny ways to take up the additional space, and the washers are filled with RUSH shirts that Geddy and Alex take out and throw into the audience at the end of the show.

  • i wish i was there

  • i wish i could've been there

  • 6:20-6:23 look at alex's hair..........LOL

  • this is really good audio

  • 4/10/11 IM SEEING THEM AT THE MADISON SQUARE GARDEN!

  • @peartisgod2112 Me too seeing them this sunday in MSG - We are from Quebec city! See you there

  • @peartisgod2112 i was supposed to go with my dad for my birthday but i had to go out to eat with my family... i hate being a teenager

  • 4/19/11 CAN'T WAIT!!!

  • Me: RUSH!!!!! OMG

    Random girl: who's rush?

Me: no, more like what is rush...there definitely not human!

  • At MSG 4/10/11 can't wait!

  • Muito bom!

  • awesome, love the look Alex gives Neil

"im waiting its your turn" and then Neil looks as though to say

    "alright with you?nahhhhh!

  • Over 35 years of perfection!!! I love Xanadu!!!

  • And..2:00-2:12 is fukking awesome!!!!!

  • This song is an anthem and festive!!!

  • Ged should bring back his double neck Rick!

  • Who the hell gave this a "thumbs down"?

  • @bikinggreg

Could have only been some Ahole trying to piss us off!!

  • A great production!! Its also great watching all 3 perform like true masters...they are masters..ive been a rush fan for...wow..a long time..im 43 and alex was my first guitar god...the TIGHT musicianship is great.. jackinboulder...its nice to see other rush fans.

  • and they get payed millions to do this.

  • Simon Phillip Becker ist das größte Arschloch auf der ganzen Welt!

  • Rush fans should be in charge of production goods such as DVDs and shows.

  • 1:17

  • @tokeification You should drown in turds!

  • @tokeification YOU!... Shit licking dog fucking ass digging anal humping piece of disgrace should leave this planet right NOW!

  • Geddy's Vioce got deeper since '74. Ha.

  • @chickenttt This is nothing short of hilarious. Everything olivia newton john makes combined doesnt = this song

  • These guys are simply all pro!!

  • to al the people who want Rush inducted into the R'n'R hall of fame - remember this, the criteria for entry seems to be that you are band on a downward slide who lives off of past glories.

Rush seem to be wanting in this respect - as the new track "Caravan" is up there with their best work as was Far cry, whilst Rush continue to produce relevant material they have no chance of making it and this makes me incredibly happy.

Maybe we should start a campaign to ensure they are never nominated!

  • ... And what happens next?

Nice work! Don't be surprised if Mr Neil P kicks your door in though! ;-P

  • Love this song so much. Nice job on the rollthefemers, Probably the best handy am vid on youtube.

  • How could someone not like this, what a moron...he's the only one.

  • 1 person is justin bieber

  • @ashmbbs People are just ignoring these comments now...nobody wants to hear about that cunt

  • Watch this video and wonder to yourself why they aren't in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

  • one person didn't drink the milk of paradise

  • @swelsher LOL!! I read that and almost spit the coffee of paradise all over my screen. :)

  • Great job on the vid guys

Best freaking band under the stars!

  • There is a HUGH difference between this band and all of the others....Three best friends playing for the love of music and each other! No ego's just pure unadulterated passion!

  • excellent sound quality!

  • A Farwell to Kings is one of the finest albums of all. Xanadu, Closer to the Heart, Cygnus X-1? Wow!

  • Wish they didn't skip the second verse :/

  • @Tiemyshoebish yea always wondered that on this video

  • Such an underrated song. Wish they played it on Time Machine

  • how do tehy do it, they write this song in their 20's and its so epic. so f'n good.

this performance is so awesome also, and neil and alex being silly in the begining makes it all that much better

  • Thanks for this. I have the R30 tour DVD and the version of Xanadu on it doesn't capture the performance the way this one does. Superb.

  • This is simply an amazing band with few if any peers in the progressive rock genre

  • It's a real treat comparing this magnificent performance to some of the older ones available on YouTube.

  • I wish that was my laundry being done

  • RUSH FOREVERRRRRRR

  • great fucking band. good editing too.

  • Masters at work!!!!!!!!

  • hahaha love neil in this, jokes around for a second then right back to business

  • Superb video!!!!! I've seen RUSH 6 times and they have never played Xanadu Live. This is a blessing thanks!

  • @ConcertKing1 Learning to play anything of Rush is a remarkable feat. I enjoy both listening and playing their music.

  • RUSH is good breakfast!

  • @elbertsnext Is good with or without milk

  • @elbertsnext Is good with or without milk

  • even the peart-master cracked a smile

  • WHat can be said.... I think there arte enough comments to this tune... Brings me many memories from my youth when stiving for perfectionism..... The outcome isn't clear yet. ;-)

  • Look at all the devoted Rush fans. We are, because we're searching for precision and structure in our lives, a definite trajectory to follow. Rush is the answer, they give us form and function and steer in a straight line without deities and superstition, as a human force. And goddamn, it feels good!

It's more than music. It's positive energy.

  • I just recently showed this video to my niece, who up until that point liked justin bieber & lady gaga. She was blown away; she said "Wow; you mean THIS is what being a musician is about?" She's thrown away her justin beaver & lady gagme CD's, and has borrowed all my Rush CD's.

It's not that kids are stupid when they like worthless acts like those 2 attention whoring posers; it's that they are not exposed to other music & pretty much have that garbage shoved down their throats.

  • An icon of rock! This song is more than 20 years with me, and will always be. I can dream it.

  • Excellent recording and amazing audio (especially low end!)! Awesome!

  • In rock there is Rush, and there is less than Rush.

  • damn geddy's voice is great here!

  • geddy replaced his amps with washing maches....epic =)

  • i never saw a live rush video that was less than perfect- but then again they are perfect performers....super computers in human form

  • clothes dryers LOLwhen i saw them he had chicken rotisseries. but sadly they did not play this awesome song.

  • So once upon a time someone tried to tell me Rush would be better without Geddy as a vocalist. I cussed them and we do not speak anymore.

  • Thank you so much for posting this, I LOVE them!!!

  • @ 1:58 Geddy: "Ladies and gentlemen, please excuse my bandmates' juvenile behavior. I'm the most professional person on this stage--and I'm the one who replaced my amplifiers with clothes dryers!"

  • @yoadrie and a snack vending machine :P

  • WOW. I'm always impressed by Rush, but this goes one step farther. One of the things I really like about this video is the joy they seem to get from the playing this song, and the playful interplay between Alex & Neil. That, and the fact that their musical talent is OFF THE CHARTS. I still can't believe it's only 3 guys making a sound this thick & heavy...

  • Rush............words are not good enough......we mortals are in awe of them. My favorite band ever always.......the end.

  • LOL! Alex: "I wonder if I have time to take a nap..." Neal: "Paitence, grasshopper, I'll be with you in a minute--" LOL!!!!

  • RollTheFemers I've played this about ten times and never get tired of watching it. When you watch the original video from the 70's they are really intense and serious. Now years later there playing is more relaxed plus there's so much joy in it.

    Thanks for posting.

  • Rush never fail to impress, amaze, inspire.... As good or better now than they've ever been, darn them....

2 Weeks to the Garden State Arts Center show!

  • Classic rock is an endurance contest- Pink Floyd, Zeppelin, Foghat, Nazareth, Grateful Dead, Ten Years After, Triumph, and many more have all self destructed. Blue Oyster Cult, Nazareth, Steppenwolf are shadows of their former selves. Aerosmith hangs on by a thread. Rush is one of the few that have retained their powers and original lineup. They harken back to a time when there were MANY great rock bands releasing awesome LP's in succession all at the same time- the 1970's-not ever again.

  • @tunnelportterror Well said... I love the bands you mentioned, but there's something quite magical to being able to go see a band I remember listening to while I was still playing with legos! Actually, I still play with legos, but that's beside the point... it's awesome to see the same three guys still playing arenas, and playing just as well as they did 30 years ago.

  • Love the part @ 1:09 with Lerxst and Neil screwing around!

  • Wow! that's one of the most impressive displays in all of rock an roll. Also, this is an awesome video. It's not somebody who simply brought in a camcorder. This is a slick video production trying to look like a bootleg but is much better. Was a dvd of this for sale?

  • @dl1027 It was shot by three guys with camcorders in the audience and then mixed later to incorporate all three angles into the final production which you see here. It is not for sale, rather it is freely traded among fans.

  • @RollTheFemers how did they such good sound quality?

  • @RollTheFemers Well, it's a nice job none the less!

  • @RollTheFemers - Yeah, dudes within the bands tour company most likely. You can tell. Those are vastly superior sound quality cameras. That is some serious shit there. They just wanted to put some of this epic show out there most likely.

  • @RollTheFemers how could fans in the audience record this if the drum solo was recorded using birds eye view? just wondering

  • @dl1027 yeah it was my dad had the R30 box set it had signed picks from geddy and alex

  • 2:01-2:46= best chords by alex ever

  • Xanadu is the most dynamic Rush song they have ever recorded. It begins mystical, moves to "the epic riff", gets a little melow and also rocks your nads!! My all time, #1 fav Rush song EVER!! No bout a doubt it!!!!!!!

  • This is the ONLY band that I can say I L O V E. The new dvd is highly! recommended.

  • Rush must hold the record for the most literary references of any rock band. Samuel Taylor Coleridge, Shakespeare, Hemingway, Oscar Wilde, Tolkien, Homer, Ayn Rand, et al.

  • Thank you for posting this fucking KICK ASS video. Noone comnpares to Rush. Is this from someone's personal video camera? The sound and video are damn good. Or maybe it's just that Rush is damn good. Thanks again.

  • 1:17 rofl

  • i just freakin love that riff

  • @kissfan004 That means your seeing them tonight! Lucky DOG!!!

  • 2:03 Needs more cowbell =P. J/k Rush for life!

  • god on drums

  • August 22nd baby. CAN'T FUCKING WAIT.

  • Greatest band to ever live. Can't WAIT to go see them in Atlanta.

  • Isso é som o resto é resto

  • Most underrated guitarist maybe ever. A magician on that GS.

  • They still got it ...even after all these years. Just amazing!

  • f icking awesome!!

  • If only they'd not abbreviated it.

If only Alex used the necks at the right times.

And if only Geddy had used the Taurus pedals for the bass at the end. ;)

It's a great rendition, but I can't say it matches up to the live versions of the past.

  • @ArsenicTheLegend 10-11 minutes is a pretty long song during a concert and i guess alex just felt more comfortable with the good old 6 string neck. about the pedals, i dont know

  • i think i would cry if i went to te concert in atanta this september and he didn't do the keyboard.

  • ROLL THE FEMURS LOL! roll the bones. anyone catch that?

  • @darkwing543 aahhhhh curse you i was going to point that out and sound smart but you just stole my thunder. grumble...

  • Truly amazing!! Can't wait to see them this summer on the Time Machine Tour!

  • I LOVE THIS SONG! One of my favorite from Rush - I can't have a favorite from Rush because I like too many of them! The best post-Beatles band ever!

  • One reason Rush is still selling out shows every time they tour is because the bands today just don't have the creativity, skills and uniqueness that these guys have. Enough already with the "boy bands" and "dancing lip syncers"... Let's see some more real talent like RUSH!!

  • Now this is one of the best live performances of this i have seen. If only it was as good as the exit..stage left version (doubleneck bass!!) but thats waaay back in the day. I hope they do it at least this good on their time machine tour this summer, which they will prolly do it over 9000

  • This is was progressif rock was meant to be.

  • 2 necked guitar baby! Roll the Bones!

  • these guys are gods

  • Rush, Pink Floyd, has writin the best tunes of any band. One song does'nt sound like the other, as in most bands. And most of their songs are complex. You better know more than a few cords and have a great drummer to cover their mateirial. Rush and Pink Floyd are the best i have ever seen. They write songs with meaning. Not senseles garbage like most bands of the day. They are the true gods of rock. Bob Seger is another great one also.

  • I've always said the best bands write/record no two songs that sound the same.........

  • Man It's too bad Geddy's voice was really off in this video, because other than that it was perfect.

  • @iTzNoxy What're you talking about, "voice was really off"? I think Geddy's voice is exceptionally better than expected performing this song 26 years later.. :)

  • You really should go see them in concert....you'd have a different opinion.....Geddy's voice is not "off"......

  • Indoors

  • i think they sound better out, but hey personal opinion

  • Does Rush sound better outdoor show or indoor?

  • Is Rush playing at next years' Super Bowl?
