Your video is stuck at minute 3:17 in the middle of Obama's speech on how to lower premiums before he became president.

    .

Please fix, I like this video so far.

    .

  • How's this healthcare doing now in 2011? Are we all ready to pay the tax hike that comes due, in what, 2013? Makes way more sense to have heard this in 2009. But still, very good 2012 voting points. NOBAMA!

  • it is the duty of nation to be ensure a socialized health care to all.

  • i dont like the responds from the turks

  • This is why we need single payer health care. like Canada an all of Europe has.

  • I believe and hope that eventually this country will have expanded and improved medicare for all citizens and legal permanent residents which covers 100% of cost of treatment with no coinsurance, co-payments, and no deductibles. It should cover dental care, medical care, mental health/substance abuse care, and prescriptions. Of course we will have raise taxes and/or cut spending to pay for it. After we have tried everything else this may finally come to pass.

  • We need socialized healthcare. Not this B.S

  • Keep up the super job here on your channel, I'm really diggin' the content and looking forward to rating more of your awesome videos. Please stop by so we can stay connected my friend.

    BiggerVisions*com

  • dude your an idiot. healthcare coverage gets paid through taxes now. you get fined by not pating the cadillac tax to pay for healthcare, private insurance companies only get more money if someone chooses to have above standard healthcare.

  • plus a step in the reform makes all insurance companies part of the government

  • ur fuckin hater suck a dick bush an da republicans already messed up da country an now obama had to start from scratch to rebuild it everything is not going to happen right away idiot you just another hater cuz a black man running da white house LMao OBAMMMMMMMMMAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

  • Look up Mike Montagne and his plan for Mathematically Perfected Economy.

  • The Obama camp has acknowledging that Barack Obama lied about his abortion voting record on the born-alive bill.

The New York Sun reported that Obama's campaign has admitted that the senator voted against giving medical care to babies born alive after an abortion attempt, a fact that the campaign originally dismissed as a "smear." The reality behind the Obama rhetoric is that he "worked against efforts" to ban the gruesome practice of leaving babies who survived failed abortions to die.

  • welcome to the obama deception bait and switch ...same old gov scam new face WAKEUP campaignforliberty . com

  • I am ashamed to be a Democrat. More than that, I have come to fear my own party. Hatred and corruption - the roots of fascism - are on the march in America as they have never been before, and leading this march is the Democratic Party. Increasingly, mainstream Democrats are uncomfortable with what we see in our party. We may not have a real name for it, but we know it is dangerous.

  • What it is, is........

your company has to pay for your insurance or penalized.

    However,

if it cost $40,000 to cover you, and $3000 penalty a year to not have you covered, it makes more sense to NOT PAY, and just pay the fines.

  • Hi TheYoungTurks

I have just been watching your video and I must admit it really is very good.

    I really enjoyed watching it.

Already looking forward to more of the same in the future.

    Cheers to your success.

    Mark McCulloch

  • it's not suppose to be " THE ONLY WAY"...USA can afford to give free health care but they chose not to, because the moment they stop it, the politicians will stop recieving their shares..if cuba(3rd world country) can provide free health care, why can't USA??? Canada and France also have free Health care...USA's health care system is corrupted..

  • USA can afford it? The last time I checked they were 100 trillion dollars in debt.

  • Comment removed

  • How does a bankrupt gov't bail out anything?

    Car companies,banks.......etc.

Everything they touch turns to shit!!!

  • Pay a lot of money to the politicians to save a lot more rather than paying millions of insurance owners. Minimize the cost by denying paying for health care and maximize profits by obliging the citizens to buy fraud defective insurance..

  • the same as the "FEDERAL POOL" that they "Me and McCain" enjoy..isn't that the pool which money revolves around the politicians and the insurance companies? the money that people pay to for health insurance in which the health insurance companies pay the politicians to protect them from providing such fraud service to their fellow men?

  • yo chillermiller89, you idiot, it's not the government's responsibility to care for those who are "weak." All men are created equal. People struggle, people survive. I'm POSITIVE many more people are suffering in other countries around the globe. America is one of the greatest countries in the world, the government isn't responsible for every citizen's well-being here. Stop trying to get Obama to spoon-feed you, he's going to make all of America broke as shit with all these tax-increases.

  • I don't understand why this "turk" guy in the video is complaining, he's the one who voted for Obama and also defends his life on him. My message to you, "hahahahahaha, you blind fool! I That's what everyone gets voting for the "messiah."

  • your votes are irrelevant

  • He's videos are relevant...

  • This would have been the easiest way for "them" to redistribute wealth, or steal wealth from all of us.

  • im gunna get screwed on my health care!!!!!! wtf republicans?????

  • ok if you think public health care is stupid tell me how can one ensure that people with less money (but often BIGGER problems) can get proper health care???...

i think it the job of the state/government to care for those who are weak!

  • With the free market. It has lowered costs up until government got involved with the whole process, which skyrocketted the prices in the first place. But yea, nobody talks about that, no, just give them more power, let's see if doing the same thing over and over and over has a different effect this time.

  • there is no free market for operations and the one thing the pharmaindustry is not interested in is lowering prices... i mean this has nothing to do with the free market really. we're not talking about stock or whatsoever....

AND how did government involvment rising prices of medical supply? Explain please.

  • Regulations reduce choice. Choice increase competition. Accountability increases competition, and add a hell of a lot of risk The fact that you take a shit every now and then affects the freemarket, proof is, companies make money from making products to wipe your ass with. Everything uses resources, and everything has a margin of utility. Denying this is denying praxeology. What you fail to see is that you either have the free market, or government involvement (which is nothing but violence)

  • the involvement of the goverment ( i mean public healthcare) doesnt influence the price of medicine, it just makes them accessible to more people.

you're just missing the essence here. anyways the market is dominated by very few huge pharma-copmanies. futhermore how is "choice" reduced? public option or not: you can choose your doctor. in fact in without the public option the choice is even lower, only the rich can choose.

  • I think you might want to look further into it from a freemarket point of view. I tried to look at it the socialist way, and all it did was scare me even more. If you garantee healthcare, more people will access it than planned. Less people will take care of their own health, because the government does it for them. You'll only lower the living standards and you won't realize it because the FDA loves to use bunk statistics. It also forces companies to charge more because of high risk individuals

  • It will also suck immigrants in, just for the freebies. And it's going to push out genius doctors out of the country into less horribly regulated countries. Garanteeing more than the free market does ALWAYS, and i mean ALWAYS cause moral hazard. Government is the monopoly of violence; you can't heal anyone with violence, directly or indirectly. Canada failed and is turning back to private health industries, so is Germany, and others. What's with the pro government fanaticism nowdays?

  • ok so i am german and i can tell you you're wrong. what changes with our new neo-liberal government now is basically just that poor people will have to pay more cause they won't pay in relation to their income anymore but and average...

even if we turn a little towards private insurance more now (not in general anyways) we still have the same system, that nakes health care available to everyone and there's no problem with it, well at least not the problems americans have...

  • They have to be turning private, there's no alternative. Government run healthcare is a fraud and a farce. It begs for scarcity, overexpenses. Without mentionning how the government is NOTHING BUT a monopoly on violence. you'll never make me beleive violence can improve my health. That just does not happen. You'll never make me beleive that not producing, and overpaying for services will bring in ressources, more medication, more services, more health workforce. It's just not reality.

  • Americans are working on laziness!!!

don't wanna get involved just wanna bitch about it.

  • So because they are lazy, you will give them "free" healthcare? How can that possibly make sense... And they are getting involved, the overwhelming majority is refusing it, because like it or not, americans get what the freemarket is about more than any other society. It is precisly why the government attemps to distort reality and try to push the blame that way, because the free market is the opposite of government. Free market is freedom. Goverment is violence. Someday you'll hit rock bottom.

  • @ExquisiteDoom

Free market is great when it comes to products and innovation..... BUT not with health care... fundamentally from the start the free market treats sickness as a profit... WHICH means sick people are discriminated against because there a threat to that profit... WAKE UP and think clearly about what your saying.... Insurance companies HATE SICK PEOPLE! They want to insure all the healthy people to maximize profit. Fundamentally flawed system from the get go.....

  • @funkyflights Well, that's a pretty weak argument there. Because people voluntarilly choose to purchase a safety-net based on future expectations ; in this case health... It doesn't work?

    Here is the alternative to this;

Create a shakedown racket for the government in order to allow the bureaucratic sharks to feast on yet more unecessary spending in the hopes that sick people will somehow magically get better and heal faster, without clogging the system.

  • @ExquisiteDoom

OH they choose to purchase a safety net and the insurance companies CHOOSE to not cover you when you call on it...As a matter of fact why don't you go watch the video that just came out about a baby who just got denied coverage because the insurance company called it a pre-existing condition..THA"TS right 1 day old with heart problems and the family HAS INSURANCE....NOT for themselves because they cant afford it BUT for there kids.... insurance companies DON'T like the sick!!

  • You simply do not care into understanding the meaning of insurance or the mechanics behind it. Insurance is not insurance if you cannot provide the safety-net because people exploit your service ; thus you need limitations. The connection you fail to make is why are the limitations so high, and why the costs so high which are fundamentally based on regulations which come from lobbyism. You're sort of implying that lobbysm will not affect universal healthcare which is denying 220 years of history

  • @ExquisiteDoom

Oh really.... My father sold car insurance for 35 years so I think I understand the concept very clearly....Insurance companies are about profit and they do whatever they can to avoid payouts...Very simple concept so not sure how your making it complicated... There lies the fundamental flaw in health insurance... to maximize profit you have to avoid sick people just like car insurance avoid bad drivers that have to many tickets.... THAT is why health insurance does not belong

  • @funkyflights "Insurance companies are about profit and they do whatever they can to avoid payouts" Agreed. But doing it by alienating clients isn't a very good business model now is it? The best way to cut costs is with prevention. Whereas Social insurance implies no prevention; not improvement, it just means everything is free, a money sink scheme,or in my words, a shakedown racket. That's not going to bring health.

  • @ExquisiteDoom

Prevention does nothing for someone that is already sick...... We all know as individually we should take care of ourselves... BUT sickness can still find you ... I have 2 childhood friends that were MODELS of health that died of cancer... So let's make that clear... SICKNESS can find anyone of us at anytime...

  • @funkyflights "models of health" I know a thing or two regarding nutrition propaganda, turns out the most healthy folks are usually much sicker than one may expect. As for the already sick, i'd like to say if there was not so many "already sick" people in the first place prices would not be so high, second if the AMA did not have the monopoly on the supply of doctors, prices would also be lower. Most of the issues have roots in government involvement.

  • @ExquisiteDoom

The government involvement seems to be the government helping out the corporations.... that's what I see... Medicare for all would save the tax payers a helluva lot of money compared to forcing Americans to buy a private product or be fined!! it's ridiculous... Think of all the wasted money taken outta the pot from insurance companies who only care about profit.... eliminate them for god sake and we will save BILLIONS..... Insurance companies are the cancer to the system

  • @funkyflights Again, explain to me how is free healthcare going to be "free". Are you serious, are you really this naive? How can you save money by making the supply virtually free via price control schemes? Isn't that going to lead to a fundamental blowback on the poorest of families you're trying to help in the first place? I think you're a very corrupt individual thinking in emotional gyrations. You're missing basic supply and demand theories...

  • @ExquisiteDoom

Dude SINGLE PAYER.... look it up.... it's not free but it's reasonable for all American families..... YOU are the one that is completely naive.... Insurance companies DO NOT BELONG in health care.... Auto, Home and life OK... health care HELL NO.... From the very start they avoid sick people... WAKE UP

  • @funkyflights You want magic, but i'm naive? While we're at it, why not nationalize food, food is important too. Perhaps if government distributes our food, we won't need to pay for different sources of food and by your logic prices will go down. Let's simply have two classes, the proleteriat and the bourgeois. Single payer is irrelevant, it's a turd in the punchbowl, you are still subsidised by the government and will sent insurance costs through the roof, you're an idiot.

  • @funkyflights How is subsidising idiocy and irresponsible bureaucrats going to increase the underlying care provided when there is a rigid limit to how much care can be provided at any time; when you have no incentive to improve the conditions in the first place? Why are you such an aggressive idiot? As if someone government was more "people" than the private sector is when all they have to do is demagoguery to get their way. I profoundly dislike dense retards.

  • @ExquisiteDoom

Free market fails in health care... it's inherently flawed because it puts a price tag on illness... sickness is not a product to be sold like a bag of potato chips at the local store... when people like you finally pull your head out of your asses you will realize this..... YOUR THE RETARD.... Single payer for all Americans... let's expand Medicare and insure all Americans! God bless America

  • @funkyflights You said it yourself, prices represent resources. Prices regulate the means of allocating resources. If you don't have this regulation and have a monopoly on the resources, guess what you cannnot CALCULATE yourself because you have nothing to compare to or to compete with. What's going to happen is this; years of waiting in line for the poor, while the very rich will get the top doctors in USA for an affordable price to him. Wish you cared for the poor.

  • Comment removed

  • @ExquisiteDoom

It's not free.... individuals PAY there bill.... 100 percent goes to health care because no middle man takes a HUGE cut of the pie.... wake up... accept your wrong.... and move on ...

  • @funkyflights I'm not wrong, you're an idiot. You're playing right into corporate hands. Employers will pay a share, which means you as an individual will overuse the service as you do not pay the price you should, so rates will skyrocket, this is econ 101, you bloody retard. This is reduce wages, jobs, and increase healthcare costs. This is explained clearly if you REALLY cared for the poor you would know this. You're fucking sleeping.

  • @funkyflights Youtube "Vogter2100 (Part 1) " from fringeelement ; i can't discuss this in detail in 500 character limit boxes. He detonates every one of your premise with delicate precision strikes. But i don't expect you to make this slight bit of effort, cause you're in denial. You were not REASONED into healthcare, thus you can't be reasoned out of this retarded mystical idea.

  • @ExquisiteDoom

A good example of insurance companies ..... It's like you owing your friend 100 dollars ... You go to pay him BUT I'm in- between you and your friend... YOU GIVE me the 100 dollars and I'll give your friend 60 dollars and take 40 off the top... THAT is the same thing insurance companies do to health care... WASTE WASTE WASTE....We need system that is NON profit driven so all the money spent on health care GOES to the doctors where it belongs....

  • @funkyflights Uh no. Not at all. I thought you had a relative in the insurance business, you should be ashamed to be lying your face off about the business when you KNOW SOMEONE who can cut the crap out of your bullshit. If you have no profit it automatically means that you're not creating more value than the resources themselves. Without profit, you're actually WASTING resources and consequently you will fail. Mao tried this non profit stupidity.

  • @ExquisiteDoom

Dude seriously STFU about calling me a liar.... I"m telling the truth.... WE DONT NEED INSURANCE COMPANIES IN HEALTH CARE.... LOL... what's the lie ?? dude make sense at least ... And what do you mean there is no profit because there are no insurance companies ? OF COURSE the doctors and hospitals will still make profit but it will be from a expanded Single payer plan that's NOT FREE.... Dude just admit when your wrong and get over it....

  • @funkyflights You're an aggressively dishonest little cunt persisting into remaining as stupid as you can possibly be. What you're telling me is doctors will make more money because people will pay more money, despite the fact the AMA holds a clear stranglehold on the supply of doctors, and the Pharma cartel holds a strangehold on medication. All you're going to do is give MONEY TO A CARTEL AND A MONOPOLY YOU FUCKING CORPORATE PUPPET. Insurances having no relevance to supply, retard.

  • @ExquisiteDoom

LOL.... name calling always solved debates.... first calling me dishonest shows what a little mental midget you are.... NOTHING I"ve said is dishonest by wanting the insurance companies OFF THE TABLE.... is that to hard for your little fucking pee brain to understand...?? I DON'T WANT THE CORPORATE WHORE INSURANCE COMPANIES ON THE TABLE.... If that makes me a corporate puppet then go get and educations..... BECAUSE you need one....

  • @funkyflights You don't use logic, therefore i can use as many ad hominems as i desire. I could explicate the intricate workings of the insurance system, the AMA, and big Pharma cartel, and tell you precisely where your money ends up; in the pockets of the very CEO's you want off the table, you will still rationalize and hide behind a rug like a little coward. God bless america for brainwashing you like a helpless little sheep. You need "educations", silly.

  • @ExquisiteDoom

I dont use logic because I want the insurance companies OUT of health care....?? THAT"S incredibly LOGICAL!!! The money will not end up in the private sectors hands under the single payer system.... Were not talking about the drug companies are we... Were talking about the INSURANCE COMPANIES.... The drug companies make a product.... the insurance companies MAKE NOTHING!!!!!!! All they do is take money off the top like a dirty middle man... Please use logic ... thanks

  • @funkyflights Please, stop, you're just soiling your self image, have you no shame?

  • @ExquisiteDoom

You just cant accept eliminating the insurance companies can you ? Your like a big wet pussy waiting to get fucked by HMO's ..... lol... Let's just eliminate them from health care man... WHY is that so hard for you to imagine ??

  • @funkyflights I don't care, i take care of my health so i won't be stuck waiting 4 years for a surgery that could be avoided. But you have fallen for the low hanging fruit of corporate interests. You think that somehow insurance companies are responsible for the high prices, without realizing that it is the AMA, and the pharma cartel. Which you are subsidizing with your stupid ass single payer system in the long run. You just can't accept that you support that which you claim to hate.

  • @ExquisiteDoom

If you made sense we could actually debate something.... remove the BIG CORPORATE insurance companies and hospitals will be forced to lower there pricing which will benefit us all.... I"m talking about removing a HUGE corporate monster and your talking MORE CORPORATE monsters... Well removing one is a good start... we can deal with the others later....

  • @ExquisiteDoom

I hate lobbyists and they should all be banned from Washington..... and screw your limitations when your talking about human life.... We can easily have a system that covers all Americans when they get sick.... PERIOD.... If we can spend Trillions having the little people bail out the banks and wall street we can certainly use OUR MONEY for the greater good of American's that are sick. Single payer ... Medicare for all.... PERIOD...

  • @funkyflights "and screw your limitations when your talking about human life" Last time i checked it's never been the job of the insurance company to perform sugery. But i guess it doesn't matter to you that money isn't all there is (see your hypocrisy here?). you fail to see what money represents. this is why you keep rationalizing the healthcare business. you don't see resources as being scarce. You just want magic.

  • @ExquisiteDoom

LOL.... dude .. if your not covered by insurance GOOD LUCK getting your important surgery ..... And if you own a house.... PREPARE to sell it or have a lean put on it IF you need that surgery and you have no insurance.... Say bye bye to your bank account and your life savings....

  • @funkyflights "if your not covered by insurance GOOD LUCK getting your important surgery" Well that's just fear driven hogwash. It's not a point against free market, it's a point against fascism and the state, yet you don't make the connection after i point it out. I guess your economy can take many more trillions of debt before the bond bubble explodes and EVERYONE lives in the streets and have to wait 4 months to get care.

  • @funkyflights Also, think before you act, emotions won't get you anywhere. If you were to ban lobbyists, it would be done with secrecy. The government loves lobbyists, that's how congressmen and senators make their dirty money, why would they ban lobbyism? In other words, government healthcare cannot and will not be positive. though you sure as hell can rationalize to make you feel better.

  • @funkyflights Also, fun fact for you, Cuba does not declare infantile deaths in their statistics if the age is below 2 months. That's a hell of a lot worse than a 1 year old with heart problems. Thanks to government healthcare, you can skew statistics to make it appealing. If you want to use examples of fascism to disprove capitalism you're going to have a hard time because i can find tons of socialist horrors, while you will still conflate fascism with capitalism.

  • @ExquisiteDoom

OH so Cuba is the only example of government run health care ? And it wasn't a 1 year old the insurance companies denied ... IT was a 1 day old child... Surgery was still performed so the child survived but the insurance company will not pay the bill.... so the family has to file bankruptcy or find a way to pay it off.... OUTRAGES system in the good old USA.... The corporate whore...

  • @funkyflights I misread i guess. But i still don't see how this is an argument against free markets, i think you're still unable to differentiate fascism from capitalism. Besides, surgery costs are high exactly because the AMA provides a stranglehold on the market. Because you know, doctors need a ten year education and a high salary to do a basic check-up, otherwise the propaganda is that people would magically die.

  • Middle-class families are looking for more than empty promises. They want to go back to work. And they want the Democrats who run Washington to stop pursuing a big government, big spending agenda that includes a government takeover of health care, stimulus bills, a new national energy tax and taxpayer-funded bailouts. The recent elections in Massachusetts, Virginia, and New Jersey have shown that voters aren't buying this rhetoric, and in November well see voters aren't buying it either.

  • I try not to post on these political videos. I am a regular american citizen who up until recently was one who trusted the government to do the right thing. "BUT" Cenk-why do you trust the democrats to do what's best for us? All of these guys-it's like the WWE. In front of the cameras Blah-Blah-Blah. That all changes as soon as the cameras are off. No matter what happens-the politicians and big business wins-"ALWAYS" Not us. I'm fed up with both sides. Of course they will run ads later....

  • the dems would too.... we have got to wake up in this country. This whole Republican-Democrat thing is a distraction. By the way Cenk(I know you won't read this) the video when you lost it is classic-the best of the web. :-) Now you need to get just as pissed at the Dems. L8

  • SCREW THIS HEALTHCARE REFORM BILL...I'm not for anymore dam FINES from our goverment...WE get fined for so much shit already...

  • I just cant believe this is happening. Its like Alice in Wonderland. If it werent so sad, it really would be hilarious.

  • Don't people realize that this is just forced purchase of health insurance? You still are going to owe the hospital just like you do now after the insurance gets paid, AND now you HAVE to buy health insurance....this helps the HOSPITALS, the DRUG COMPANIES, and the INSURANCE COMPANIES.....not the people!!!! Why don't people realize this???? Sure,he might make them insure the uninsurable, but that will justifiably run up the costs....just watch and see if it passes!!!

  • Are you saying that it is the responsibility of those hard working Americans to pay for the health care of those Americans who refuse to work? Pretty soon it's going to be easier to make money living off of government programs than it will be to work. Then where will we get the money to fund the programs? Welcome to socialism America!!

  • This is what you sound like

Durrrr.... I don't understand how economics work.

Durrrr... I'd rather give the govt money to kill people (death row, the military)

Durrr... I don't understand how socialism works.

Durrr.... I don't understand how healthcare in EVERY OTHER INDUSTRIALIZED NATION works.

    Get a fucking clue

  • Referenduim!

you need a new politcail system.

  • Well, if it doesn't work out and we dont get the public option, I think its pretty obvious that the republicans have fought against it, and I think its been obvious that the administration has tried to get the republicans on board. So in 2012 Obama can say "well, we tried working with the republicans and you can see that we dont have a public option, elect me and I will abandon bipartisanship and just do it." So it might work out. He did promise bipartisanship this time around... Hope it works.

  • could not agree with this video more.

this proposed plan is the worst ive ever heard, and offers no incentives to raise price and no legitimate competition for major insurance companies. I have no clue what he is thinking, or how this could possibly help lower cost or get people care.

  • *no incentives to lower price...

  • no cent, obama "doesnt have it coming", its you cent and other obama sheeple that have an awaking of obama coming. to fact that obama is a false idol actor, no change, just more of the same coporate, banking fascism.

  • Obama works for Wall Street. Credits, credits, credits.

  • Bush proved it - the president can come out & say & do whatever the Hell he feels like because he knows the American people won't do a thing about it. In fact, the more he doesn't listen to the people the more likely he is to have a second term - goooooo Obama!

PS: Why aren't the people FOR health care reform being as rowdy as the ones against? It shouldn't matter if insurance companies are hiring busloads of clowns to go to these meetings; the people for reform should have guns & anger too!

  • lol glad to see you say that. i feel roughly the same cept i feel that bush showed us how bad the president can be, and we will do nothing

obama will show us how great the president can be and do nothing

anyone think the systems broken yet?

Are we so used to fighting over crumbs weve forgotten theres a meal? were so busy fighting over "healthcare reform" when all this gonna do is put us back to 2 steps behind the rest of the first world. what we really need is universal care, simple.

  • um, cuz there isnt anyone that wants Health care reform. Thats kind of the point??

Obama is such a fuckup its laughable.

  • ajax, you piece of shit, please explain in detail how Obama is a fuckup. If you explain well, I'll beastfuck you up your shitty ass to celebrate your findings.

  • Lemme give u a few facts to think about u obama fan. He bailed out his top donations for his campaign. Go look it up! what a great president then 2 HE SAID IM GOING TO TAKE THE TROOPS OUT AND DIDN'T. 3 HE THEN THE FIRST WEEK IN OFFICE TOOK OUT MORE RIGHTS of ours please go look it up and quit being retarded.

  • it's only been a few months. how the hell is he supposed to pull out all those troops when the war has been going for nearly 8 years. be serious...

  • Obama never had any intention of bringing in anything like universal health care. The insurance companies & the pharmaceutical companies pay him for his policies just like they pay the republicans.

Let's all continue to have fun paying insurance companies to NOT cover us when we need it! WHEEEEE!!!

  • Again, The equation still holds:

No cost control mechanism ("Public Option") + "Individual mandate" (A Must) + Fines? = Multi-Hundred-Billion Stimulus/Susidy Bailout Bill for the private health care industry.

Is this "the means justify the end" solution?

  • the fines... IMO are the biggest indication of a strong public option that is about to be unfolded. i think we will finally have true healthcare reform with a serious public option and that everyone knows it... and that all the left wing obama concerns are just there to make sure we all stay on offense.

otherwise he sold out completely. which i dont think is even remotely possible.

  • I can't even save 2500 dollars on my insurance, because I don't pay that much, it's about 75 euro, so +/- 100 dollars a month. I do have a cheap one with little extra's, because I'm 26 years old and have never been to the hospital. But you can get your premium up to 100 euro or so, with worldwide full coverage. Point is, I get 60 euro a month back, because of low income (student) So I pay like 200 Euro A YEAR. Eat that USA. Btw I'm privately insured in Holland.

  • I'm a day late and I haven't seen his "monumental straightforward speech", but I refuse to call Obama a sellout b!%ch until I hear it. If he did say what I fear then we're screwed.

  • Comment removed

  • But Cenk, Sanjay Gupta on CNN says the co-ops could work? Oh wait...you mean he's full of shit - again?

  • Am i understanding it correctly that they would fine people in the middle class if they had no health insurance?

I know under the public option bill you would be required to have health insurance, but would you be fined under that?

  • the majority of americans don't deserve quality health care. they are too busy eating saturated fat, artificial everything, smoking, and doing every drug they can get their grubby hands on.

  • people that argue that they don't want a public option because they don't wanna spend the money need to realize that money is gonna be spent whether we have a public option or not... if the public option is shut down, the money is still gonna go to the private insurances and be passes as "healthcare reform". That would be a big mistake. We cannot compromise with these people that have been nothing but racist to get their point out. We voted for Obama so y should we compromise to them?

  • seems like the best option is single payer, but it's politically unfeasible... I say we start hearings on how horrendous private insurance co.s treat their customers.

  • the problem with the gov't getting too involved is some businesses are smart enough not oppose regulation but instead give plenty of money to the people who right the regulations to make sure they are able to get big pieces of the pie. this is what is happening with the cap and trade bill, companies like GE are supporting it as well as Exxon. Exxon likes it bc it will make their natural gas more competitive. the solution is to break the incestuous relationship of corps with pols

  • i agree with the subject line, and pharma corps will benefit too which is why they have paid 140 MILLION OUT OF THEIR OWN POCKET to support the health care reform. they're hoping to get in on the goodies of reform rather than oppose it kind of like when they benefited from medicare part-D reform. when will you progressives realize that gov't needs to get out of private business except for regulations that keep companies from committing crimes like fraud, false claims, etc

  • Is Obama a "sucker". Did he have no choice but to concede so much? Did those ugly, specious "grass roots" town halls freak him out? Did he try too hard to be pragmatic, professorial, compromising? I want my Obama back... the one I voted for

  • idiot

  • new party

  • The only hope is that Bernie Sanders joins with Republicans to filibuster Baucus-care. Getting no bill is better than getting a horrible bill, even if it means Dems get raped in the 2010 elections and the even worse Republicans take over again. 60 seats in the Senate, a monstrous majority in the House, the White House, and they can't churn out a decent health care bill. Pathetic

  • Democracy in America died a long time ago. Now standing on its beaten corpse is corporatocracy. And yes, that's a word, google it.

  • your right of course obama didnt say that did he , obama never stand up to any power hes all bla bla bla bla

  • if we loose the white house to the right extremists again, then we need a new party.

  • this is before speech im pretty sure hes gonna change his view on obama after this speech

  • Do any of you actually think that anything our government does has anything to do with helping Americans?

Health care reform is another tax and redistribution of wealth upward.

Cap and Trade is another tax and redistribution of wealth upward.

TARP, TARF, and Stimulus Package a direct loan from taxpayers given directly to the SUPERRICH BANKERS.

Now do you still think this is not true DEM=REPUB

    BUSH=REPUB

WE NEED A CONSTITUTIONAL CONGRESS AND NEED TO THROW THEM IN PRISON!!!!!

  • Usually on board with Cenk but not this time. At least I don't think the proposed plans will increase premiums. To the contrary, by forcing generally healthy people, who otherwise risk going without insurance, to buy into the system, you bring cheaper buyers into the market lowering the average costs for providers, and hopefully the savings are passed back to consumers.

  • Obama's plan has no coop, a public option as part of a health exchange, and the same health care exchange that members of congress have access to. At least that is what I gathered from his speech tonite.

  • If this passes, fuck the USA.

  • When has any politician not lied thru is arse in history? The author seems surprised or excited that he caught him lying. That's like being surprised or excited that the light of day showed up in the morning!

P.S. Government = taxation = coercion = violence = chaos and destruction. It is not possible to solve social issues like health care via violence. This is why all government programs always fail at their stated objectives but always succeed in increasing its power.

  • The $3800 fines will go to the private insurance companies? I've never seen a government fine do anything like that, this must be something new. I've only seen gov take the fine and keep it and then you need to go buy insurance on top of that. Please clarify.

  • WTF, you have to have healthcare, that's a bunch of mother fucking bullshit. What the fuck.

  • HOPE?

    NOPE!

unless we have a strong , major 3rd party.

  • I hope the republicans are happy now they are trapped into getting expensive healthcare insurgence

  • its sad that the president have like no power at all

  • so we are fucked anyway ///

  • Is the TYT website down for everyone else? Was hoping to watch the show today.

  • TYT enough with these ads b4 ur video. some of them crash chrome

  • I'm pretty sure the ads are youtube's not TYT's :\

  • Barack wants the kids to be courageous...

But then Barack rolls over & plays dead in front of the Insurance Companies.

    The public gets screwed!

  • good point lol

  • here is the simplest solution. everybody north of the mason dixon line who wants obamacare move to canada and everyone south of the line who wants it move to cuba. fair enough?

  • and everyone who doesn't can go die in a massive fire? sounds good

  • What the fuck! This is fining people if they don't give business to companies! They're literally saying if they don't buy from a certain company you'll be punished by the government. Disgusting.

  • I think it's time to learn Norwegian. In Norway if you live there for five years you automatically become a citizen.

  • Very incisive video.

  • Cenk, I've sent this clip to Obama, I hope you do too. This shit is cruel and harmful.. Everyone should let the President know how she and he feels.

  • I guess no matter what path the government takes, we're pretty much screwed.

My thought: Just pray and hope for a miracle.

  • I dint get it, since when is profit bad, typical marzist. Insurnace co's make an average of 4% ROI. Profit is good folks that is why we have jobs !! Nobody owes u healthcare.

  • public option isnt free....it just isnt loaded with pork for the suits

  • Thats right thats why we should privatize everything like the police, fire department, schools, everything. How dare those dirty goverment idiots try to make something more readily avalible to stop suffering. This PORVES IT IF IT DOSNT MAKE A PROFIT IT CANT BE GOOD.

    (sarcasm if you couldnt tell)

  • well it's pretty obviously that many of the republicans(and even democrats) are hypocrites. I mean they talk about wasteful spending and debt as a problem, but whenever they're in office, they actually enlargen the debt. the difference is unlike(for the most part the democrats) they spend it on weapons and military armaments, while cut spending on thins like medicare, medicaid and welfare programs for the poor. this is the hypocritical and disastrous politics of many in the republican party

  • And the beauty of all it is that it's only 100 billion cheaper then the original plan. Some how these Republican senators have stopped crying about the OMG 1 trillion dollar cost of the public option plan but just love 900 billion dollar cost of the new bill. Serious what the fuck?!

  • As much as I agree with you, 100 billion dollars is hell of a lot of money dude...

  • wow you know, this is the same way cenk was acting right before the elections during around the democratic convention. sayin" oh obama's not forceful enough, and he might not win cause of this" shows he's real good a predictions. whether is has the public option or not, we'll see(i'd personally obivusly want a bill that has that, anyone would) but co-op in contrast to what cenk says, is actually good to. there are many countries that have better health care than america that use co-ops

  • ......Such disgusting news from Obama.

  • Barack will announce tonight that he's a loser with a big caplital L on his forehead.

The INSURANCE COMPANIES & their lobbyists have wipped his ass good & they are the big winner.

Also losing is the American Public which will continue to see overall health care costs go up.

  • cenks laugh inbetween the clip is priceless

    says it all

  • What kind of "Health Care Reform" is this?

No "Public Option" + "Individual Mandate" +Fines = $400BILLION DOLLARS Bailout of the private insurance industry PER YEAR, all paid for by American taxpayers.

  • $4000 fine for not being able to afford health insurance, soda and junk food taxes, carbon taxes to fight so-called man made global warming even though the planet is in a cooling cycle, taxes on farm animal flatulence, mandated GMO seeds and food, government control of ALL water in the US, and more.

all of this ridiculous legislation is being pursued by special interests and corporations that only care about their bottom line and CONgress and the president are their puppets.

  • what is so wrong about half of those legislations... government water is the cheapest and the cleanest there is. Soda and junkfood tax sound logical cause America has a big diabetes and obesity problem. Carbon taxes are even implemented in other countries.
