  • This rendition goes right down to my toes. How beautiful Etta was....

  • Does it get any better? Thanks for your heart and soul Ella!

  • Wow killer song, God given talent...

    m

  • Fantastic interpretation, RIP Etta... simply put... the very Best!!!

  • Gospel even.

  • What a great loss to the World of music with the death of this star--rip Etta

  • Elvis,Etta,Ella....gods got a great choir.

  • @1954771 agreed lol

  • its such a shame no one in my generation know about her wonderful music... not even after her death! rip etta, i will always be a huge fan of urs! if people my age (15) listened more to your music, the world would be such a better place.

  • RIP ETTA JAMES<3

  • RIP ETTA!!

  • rest in peace....u sang this one....

  • RIP baby i adored you, i cried non stop when i heard about ur death.... such a loss! i adore you and i will always do. i am 14, i've been a fan of u since i was 12... u've inspired me in my songwriting and singing, i am a huge fan of yours, there will never be a singer like you, at least in the next 50 years... :(

  • Great video remembering one of the greatest voices to ever sing. I believe Otis Redding owns the male. Often people forget that the voice box is the only instrument we are born with.

  • @irishbear76 I believe Elvis Presley owns the male....just my view.

  • @1954771

When he sang gospel you have one great argument. (The passion he sang with). I would not disagree with your opinion at all. Elvis hada voicebox lof pure gold. as well. Cheers! P.S. My brother-in-law and you would be clapping hands over my head right now. He is a HUGE Elvis fan.

  • @irishbear76 Elvis ,believe it or not only ever got 3 grammys and all were for gosple.

I have been a member of the U.K. Elvis fan club for over 30yrs a fan longer.

Elvis met Mahalia Jackson in 69 on the set of his last film Change of Habit.

She was doing some kind of fund raising and had a number of stars lined up for a gosple show Elvis was very much up for it but the Colonel wasn't and contracts never allowed him to perform.Shame.

  • @1954771

I have been educated on one of the greatest shows never to see :(

Thanks for that, I will pull that one out with my brother-in-law

  • @irishbear76 I bet your brother in law's a sound fellow..good luck :)

  • @1954771

Sound in musical taste but not in mind. ROFL.

  • Ms Etta RIP one great soulful singer!

  • rest in peace, beautiful etta. thank you for your beautiful music.

  • rust in vrede etta, bedankt voor de prachtige songs !!!!

  • RIP Etta James

  • RIP

  • IMHO this is way better than Ella's she brought a real, honest quality to this song, but shes not known for this song... its a shame as I think its her best!! RIP Etta, you were a lady and a legend!!

  • Kiss the stars for us all Etta.

  • GRACIAS POR TODO, ETTA !!! TANK YOU , ETTA !!!

  • RIP, one of the best artists in history.

  • RIP Etta... thanks for making the world a better place!! Thank you for the music!

  • Rest In Peace sweet, sweet Etta!

  • RIP and thank you

  • One of the Greats....RIP Dear Etta

  • An amazing voice... RIP

  • and to all who are saying " she isn't soft enough" this is Blues baby. blues isn't soft...

  • @denpiregrl i totally agree with you this is blues at its best!!

  • @65wolfpack :) Indeed she is...

  • RIP Etta....Riverside has lost a long time resident and one of the great voices in blues. at least she doesn't have to see her family and friends fight over her and her money anymore. At Last...:(

  • Great voice, great female artist!! Will be remembered always.

  • Rest in peace.

  • Rest in peace Etta! another gorgeous voice in heaven :(

  • R.I.P Etta xxx

  • Etta isn't soft...she's real and makes you FEEL it!

  • Amy brought me here!

  • You should hear Linda Ronstadt's version.

  • I love Etta, saw her front and center on the grass at the Long Beach Jazz Festival in the 80's, but this is not my favorite rendition of a fave song. Roberta Flack and Sting did the best job in the movie soundtrack and I can't find it.

  • No offense Etta, but Amy killed that song!!! Nice try though!!! XD

  • @savamounange I agree, also, Kim Burrell could have done this better than Etta if she tried to. Etta's voice is too powerful and rough for this song.

  • @XforeverlongingX Couldn't agree with you more. She's not soft enough on this.

  • DAMN! YOU GO MISS ETTA! YOU GO!

  • Terrific !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • She will always be remembered as one of the great ones......her soulful interpretations and emotional grit are unmatched as far as I'm concerned. This Gershwin classic has been interpreted my many, but few do it justice, such as Etta.

  • Etta excels here. Great interpretation of an old Gershwin classic. Love the piano in this too. Beautiful chord arrangement.

  • Etta rocks this beautifully. This song has its owm power though and just about any version is sweet

  • Personally, I think Asher Book sings this better, but this was a just different style! Both were great! Asher's just makes your heart melt a little bit!

  • Russell Brand brought me here. i love him and he's refferences

  • Remarkably beautiful. love how she sanged it.

  • this plays in my car all the time. it is simply orgasmic when people hear it for the first time. It remains orgasmic to me--too, too much soul!

  • What a remarkable soulful fierce woman. She is truly one of a kind! Great pics btw!!

  • No one sings this like Etta!

  • Today more than ever...Etta is the best

  • Excellent !!! great Etta´s rendition

  • From the album 'Etta James Sings Songs For Lovers"

  • Damn!!! It's been a long time since I've heard this version. Etta was the real deal!! Stellar!

  • as good as it gets

  • pure-raw-soul

no one does it like Etta James

  • KILLER!

  • great!!!!!!!!!

  • youtube.com/watch?v=v7ygULoNgx4 listen to her rendition of this song

  • Etta can sing anything. You should check out her version of Randy Newman's "Sail Away" or her rendition of the old W.C. Handy classic "The St. Louis Blues."

  • yes thank you for the good stuff.

  • holy.... wow. jaw dropped.

  • etta oh my but you are the true queen of the blues and this little song goes all the way to the bank to prove it, i recall you from the fifties and the song named "roll with me henry", ir was deemed so salacious at the time that it was banned from the radio, you may be better known for your great song "at last' but his tune simply is the greatest rendition of an all time goodie

  • Lawd, Thank you SO much jasondean !

Don't know how anybody could ever try to come close to this woman's voice. They can not, I'm sorry-no hell I ain't. Not at all she says; awe-stricken....xoxo -c-c-

  • Etta OWNED this one as far as I'm concerned! She sang it from her own pain and you can feel it. She makes you feel it! If any women out there want to learn how to get soul from their voice...this is the goal to reach for! OR QUIT!

  • Wow!!

Her voice really shook my soul♪

  • etta james herself would love this video!!! I had chills on the last note next to last slide with her looking up!!! very good work 5stars
