I used to call Babbit a little more NBA ready than Hayward now that Gordon has come a long way physically(and I do mean a LONG way) Gordon's all around skills are better....Babbit has yet to have a 19 point game or better if I'm not mistaken....Gordon has played hardly any minutes, but the games when he did play 19,22,34pt games....slow progression, but he will become an animal in this league....Babbit rebounds better but hes a big 3 or a small 4...Gordon does everything else better than Luke.
LaMarcus Aldridge is shinning, he and Roy make everyone on the team act like wallflowers. Babbitt needs to go to another team like Josh McRoberts (Babbitt's better than him). Even Ryan Anderson & Hayward are rotting on their respective team's benches. McRoberts is enjoying minutes at the moment.
@MSotelo503 I wouldn't worry about that yet. Its a little too early to call it a wasted pick. Although the Wesley Matthews pickup makes me think that they may shop babbitt out. I would hang on to him though, he is a very solid player.
@catch40507 The Blazers do it time and time again and sit there rookies. I still think Patty has the skills to become a Arron brooks or a Dragic. Babbit is pretty weak reminds me when he plays like a Adam Morrison Great College player but not a NBA player.
@MSotelo503 If he is going to wind up like Ammo, it will definitely be for different reasons. The guy was one of the best athletes at the NBA Combine with a 37.5 max vert and did 15 reps on bench. I think his biggest problem at the moment is he never gets into games. When you never get in, and then are suddenly stuck into the game, you come in stiff and a lot of guys go and try to do something crazy. And wind up looking dumb.
@catch40507. Yeah he is hands down the best shooters in his draft class but Babbit gots one problem who got drafted to a team with a coach who gives senority and majority minutes even if they dont do well at times.
@catch40507 Don't get me wrong I am a huge Blazer fan but I just got a sour taste about Mcmillian,Broy and Oden. I think we need to move on look at Monty I even jokingly called it I was like what if he becomes one the best coaches. Martell and Bayless will eventually have breakout years.
Luke's game is nasty looks like roy might finally have that constant number 2 scorer. He is like what lamar odom was before he went to the lakers , but with a bigger upside though. looking forward to seeing the less high profile draftees make noise hayward and babbitt i hope they both do great.
Man that move at 2:35 was pure textbook...this dude seems like such a Utah type player, I can't believe they passed on him. Hayward is a similar type guy but Babbitt is just way better.
Welcome to Blazerland, Luke. Hope you're enjoying your 1st day in Portland, today. Tell your handlers to set you up with a apt/condo on the west side of the city. You'll love it.
The final Pritchslap was executed on draft night 2010. When is Minnesota going to learn? Keep any player Portland wants from you. We already got Brandon Roy from them.
@MisterBinx, The answer is never. They have 0 winning seasons without KG. They got lucky with one draft pick. I will say that there is a problem with the lottery because the Timberwolves have yet to have the first pick. Hopefully the wolves get rid of Kahn and hire Pritchard!
@mellowmark1 Yeah Babbit is terrible, but the years we got out of Roy were magical. So Minny still messed up. He might not have been hurt if went there too. So they could of had a superstar type player.
Look at Minny, going to trade the number 2 pick. Bunch of idiots.
Roy being a superstar lead to Portland giving him a huge contract. If Minny kept Roy they'd be in the same boat, owing like 60 mil to a guy who can barely walk. His injuries were a degenerative thing, so it could've happened anywhere. Also Minny may very well keep their pick, but even if they didn't it's a weak draft where the guy projected to fall to them plays a filled position. With all the young talent they have on their roster they need some veteran leadership.
@mellowmark1 You have a good point about Roy, but he did save our franchise. Dude would have been a top 3 player in franchise history. Right after Bill Walton, and maybe 2-3 with Drexler. That's worst case.
I still think the Wolves should take Williams or maybe even Kanter. If it's a weak draft, then they might as well get a solid piece for the future. Kevin Love is a terrible defender. He makes Al Jefferson seem like Dwight Howard. I know Darko is a good shot blocker, but they need more talent
Love is too good not to play 38+ a night even though his defense (while improving) is sub-par. The only way I see the Wolves drafting Williams is if they trade Beasley, otherwise there isn't enough minutes to go around. The Wolves are in a good position, especially after signing Rubio. Maybe you could give them a little credit for building a team filled with young talent and tons of salary cap flexibility.
@grabbity , damn thats funny. When I heard they traded him for a guy that is 3 inches shorter, 2 years older, and basically the same player I could only laugh. They traded him because he can't play defense in a league that no defense is played. It is hard to be a timberwolves fan.
my first time watching this kid kid play, and I swear to god, I feel like I'm watching a more athletic version of Chris Mullin. I'd LOVE to have this kid on the Knicks.
Looks like he could be a good addition for us in Portland. Big body but good shooter that can spread the floor so that Aldrige has more room to work in the post. I hope he can develop into a good 6th or 7th man for us.
Sucks, the Jazz have such a great pick and won't be able to get a good Big man with it like they need. greg Monroe is the man the Jazz need but will go to either the Clippers or detroit so the Jazz will end up getting babbit where he will sit on the bench and do nothing and we will be stuck in limbo. Great player but he won't help us move forward.
Babbitt an incredible talent !! The thing about these highlights is look how easy he gets his space or gets into the middle. That will not happen in the NBA. Hitting that 15 foot jump shot is going to be the key to open the lane up for him. He won't be the best player on the team unlike Nevada so he can just come down and take a 30 foot three pointer. If he adapts his game the sky is the limit. Best thing of all white boy representin, you don't find many in the NBA these days!
I really hope the NEW ORLEANS HORNETS select him,he can play both forward positions and he can shoot and he could possibly take over for peja stojakavic
Impressive! Being 6'8 and being so skilled like that. Nice offensive repertoire, great shooting touch, and this clip was fun to watch due to his exciting style of play. I just hope his confidence will be maintained once he reaches the NBA. I think if he works on lateral quickness, he could become a very good player at the next level.
@checktheavailability Nahhhhhhhhhhh. More like, With the 16th pick, The Portland Trail Blazers select, Luke Babbitt! Which happened. Fuck Utah. GO BLAZERS!
Babbitt looks faster and quicker offensively with some solid defensive skills than what scouting reports are saying about him. He's one of the more intriguing 'lesser' known prospects in this draft with his wide array of skills on both sides of the court. I'm pretty sure he can improve any defensive limitations he may have under the right coach and trainer.

great video, but an even better player. He's as good of an offensive player I saw this season, and he's going to be an absolute steal in the NBA draft.
I was so THRILLED when the Twolves drafted him but then traded him for.....Martel Webster ??!!
Martell Webster only missed the whole year last year and part of this year and dunked the ball when the Twolves needed a three.....damnit Twolves

great video, but an even better player. He's as good of an offensive player I saw this season, and he's going to be an absolute steal in the NBA draft.
